India and China will eat your midle class alive, and all you will be left with is the richest 10% and a huge lower class doing crime, drugs while dying from aids.

Perhaps.... it is time then for change. It seems to me that American politics is done by the 2 parties with no competition, and that many people hate this system of the elite. I beleive that situation is essentialy a reworked version of the old monarchial system, instead of peasents their are now labourers for their Lord CEO. Perhaps time for an injection of reality to the fat arses of the ruling class of America, get some politicians without any connections to any industries and loyalty only to the people. A British minister was almost sacked for having shares worth ú30k, I hear that G.W.B is fairly integrated into the Texan oil industry for instance, try and make a change yourself perhaps by standing in politics, they could use more people like yourself from this foreighn perspective I have.

Who cares. Maybe some of the rich will stop moving to Canada in order to gain relative wealth, opening up immigration to those of us who want to move to Canada to get out of the fascist state that the USA is quickly becoming.
And before you argue that the US isn't becoming a fascist state: defend this.

As a conservative citizen of the United States, whos' family was involved with the space program and 2 world wars, I can say, without any doubt at all, that this staement is one of the most true, least forgiving things I have seen in a long time. I am glad to see that I ma not the only one who thinks this way, and extraordinarily sad, to see my Republic fall apart slowly becuase of it.

And the same goes for this. Bush is a talking head, nothing more, he can't do anything without congressional approval. The entire government, republican and democrat has failed us all.

It's not going to happen... We would have to revolt and start killing politicians... I'm all for that tbfh...
The only other option would be for everyone in the entire country to stop paying taxes, which means all the corporations would have to start paying their employees under the table (impossible in todays day and age).. If everyone did this at once, we would get their attention...
I honestly think we need to start assassinating politicians...

The USA is supposed to back off, stay out of our lives, and give us the freedom to prosper or fail. That is what a free society does. Freedom to succeed is also the fredom to make mistakes.

Last time that happened the American civil war erupted. The Union didn't want to lose those states and so chose war to get them back.

Government entitlement programs are a horrible idea. Name one Entitlement Program that's good, and I'll tell you 10 reasons it's not. It promotes reliance on the government which leads to a dependant, lazy populous. What kind of person would you be today if mommy and daddy spoon fed you for the rest of your life. You're sick? aww don't worry about it I'll help you. You're retiring? aww I'll give you other people's money. You'd be Paris Hilton. Man does best when he is forced to compete, not to be fed from a government teat.
Why do you think we have such a huge immigration problem in the US? Not only are there many job opportunities, but they get to benefit from our entitlement programs. If the government wants to insure we have retirement options then have us save our own money, do not give us other people's money (maybe don't take it away in the 1st place). Social Security is an ancient system that was meant to aid people in the Great Depression. We need to phase this out immediately, we're digging such a large hole for ourselves.
Instead of the populous getting off it's butt it relies on this government to spoon feed us. The federal government was created for one major purpose to defend us abroad. The government has taken on so many duties that it cannot fulfill it's primary goal.
The Federal Government was never meant to tax our whole income, it's such an un-american idea. The IRS is the biggest fraud in American history, along with the formation of the Federal Reserve. Forget the war on terror, what happened to the War on Taxes? Do you realize your income taxes are used to pay back interest from the government borrowing money from the federal reserve (doesn't need to exist in the 1st place)? If we went back to a standard, the Federal Reserve could be abolished tomorrow (hyperbole), and the income tax amendment could be repealed.
Also why does the federal government even take on ideas of social change? It's ********, government shouldn't dictate society change. The Government already has a great set of guidelines to abide by "All men are created equal..." Why does the word abortion come up on a national level? That's obviously a state concern. Death Penalty is a state decision, Marriage laws are a state decision. Why am I hearing this stuff out of presidential candidates mouth, you should not force blanket laws across the nation as it offends people, and perpetuates the issue as opposed with society itself being forced to handle it.
Take Racism for example, was it the government that changed the bigotry in society or was it people like Martin Luther King? Societal issues must be dealth with within the society.
Well that will conclude my rant for now :).

In this day and age that wouldn't happen. In Northern Ireland it was terrorism on a huge scale.... But after sitting down and talking there is actual progress. I would say that the repercussions of the US degrading into a civil war would destroy it as it is now dependant on a global econemy that would pull out should such a thing happen. If New York became the 28th state of the EU I can't see many complaints this side of the pond.

We shouldn't have gitmo. We shouldn't even be in the middle east. We should have stuck to our guiding principles, that said. "Trade with all nations, alliances with none". Military interventionism is the worst thing that ever happened to us. We fight preventative wars now. That very concept was invented by people like Adolf ******. It's ludacris. We have been meddeling in middle eastern politics for the past 50 years. Enough is enough. we need to come home, we need to pull the military out of europe out of the middle east, and protect our own border. We spend over a trillion dollars a year maintaining the empire of ours, and it will, wether you like it or not, come crashing down on us. And the US will be the one begging for foriagn aid.
People need to wake up and realize this. Or soon we will wake up with an over streched military, and a depression.

The US are it's citizens. We are the United States, while it is not a direct democracy it is a republic. We elect representatives to perform our will. When asking what the US does for it's citizens, you're just asking what are we doing for ourselves. While this should be the case, currently it's not :(.
I have to have Social Security that I don't want. I have to pay for people's food stamps which while I don't mind doing, I'd rather just give directly to my local food shelter, etc. If a democrat gets elected I'll get health care that I don't want either. I pay for elderly people's medicine at an increased cost due to incompetent legislature. In fact I'd say the only think I want from government is for them to make sure I don't see a mushroom cloud over the horizon someday. Hell, I live in NY, and DC, so I hope I'm not Ground Zero.
All these social programs are doing is destroying Charital organizations. Who built all the great universities? Government? no Charity. Years ago how did hospitals function? how did they expand? Charity.
The American people are re-knowned for their charitable donations in the past. After these programs it has all but destroyed that endeavor.
The principles on which this nation was founded upon are slowly being dismantled.

He speaks the truth. Parralels can be drawn with the collapse of the Roman Empire on overstretched resources, and while the Cold War was a real reason for the US to deploy abroad that I can see and respect, she should withdraw to her own territory and defend herself. If the US wants to operate in the middle east - just declare Israel a state and be done with it, most of the middle east woulden't be motivated to attack the US if it would stop acting like their leaders say it will.....

Which is why I'm voting for Ron Paul, wether or not he gets the party nod, I don't care. I'll write him in If I have too. I'm not going to waste one more vote on a corporate shill. And 2 years later, I'll only going to vote for canidates for congress that follow a strict constitutional doctrine. I've had it with the republicrats. They're all the same. And if the american people ever came out of the daze they are in, and we loaded congress with contitutionalists and libertarians, we could withdrawl, we could get rid of the fed, and we could focus our energies on improving our selves and our way of life. I just hope that people understand that, and wake up in time. Otherwise we'll be in the middle east forever, and the middle class will be destroyed. It's already fading away now.

Well.... if I remember right the French Republic ordered the US to withdraw from their territory after the Cold war. I think the same is happening in Okinawa but surely the US will withdraw from it's allies countries should they request it....

I studied hard in high school to get a 92% average in the hopes that I could get a scholarship to pay for college. Because I was a white male student with a house over my head, ho help for me.
I worked 24-32 hours a week at a transmission shop/oil change garage while going to the University at Buffalo for Mechanical Engineering as a fulltime student. I now make ~90k a year. My parents never made more than 40k a year combined. Neither went to college.
All the members of my family are way more successful than my parents were, due to how we were raised, taught the value of hard work, etc...
Not a rags to riches story, but a bare minimum effort story. If all Americans can't imporve on what their parents started them out with, they are not trying hard enough IMO...

Yep. I agree. I wish we could just tear it all down and start over. Get rid of all these government subsidies. Give the power back to the states and local governments. The federal government has become too large, to intrusive, and way out of control. And all of it is our fault, we let all this crap happen.

A very nice success story then. I just wanted to point out that though the concept of entitlement is a big problem in this country nowadays, not everyone has the same opportunities. The chances of anyone being able to educate themselves and escape from places like East Saint Louis are pretty slim (you can look up some statistics regarding the city, but to summarize, it's not a good place to be).
