Probably not quite so pretty until the next graphical update, but you get the added bonus of EVE already existing.

looks good but will it be playable?
the eve graphics update will slaughter that game before it comes out because at the moment thats the only strong point going for it
any new games will have more bugs than eve and in that time eve can adjust itself to counter any other games strong points

Wow, that is totally a cool looking game. Let's hope development goes well for them. I can't wait to try the beta when it comes around.

Not too shabby. The scale is not yet realistic, but the execution looks quite neat.
I suggest we dispatch a group of EVE Yarrr pirates  to pirate that engine, then give it to the Devs to test their maybe planned Reverse Engineer game feature on it, and if it succeeds, CCP can employ the same technlogoy

I don't want to have EVE handling like a bastard child of X-Wing and Descent.

That does look very nice. Though it seems to be aimed at a very specific non-EVE audience. Real-time flight-sim style combat. I could go for that, but getting slaughtered by experienced players would suck. And sticking to PvE... well I dunno.

They already had to ban a whole bunch of EVE zealots who came around to mock the game (at the forums, ofc) because apparently market has no place for another space MMO.

Thats Infinity: Quest for Earth, not eve. So obviously EVE wont look like that.. Duh?
Its like showing a video of Crysis and asking if Mass Effect will look like that. No it wont, but it will still look perhaps exactly equally awesome :)

Ofcourse I wouldn't want EVE to play like this but you're forgetting that that footage is from the Client Prototype test. FYI that's even before alpha or beta, so expect things to get much much MUCH better from here on. I've played quite a bit on the prototype client and the funnest part is the physics around it. In the prototype you can only fly small fast ships or and two slightly heavier ships. The handeling of these ships is pretty darn cool and takes some time to master their flight. But being able to pull off manouveurs you only see in movies (like the classic "turn around and fly backwards while shoothing the guy at your 6") makes it all worth it.
I can't wait for the next client to come out so I can test some of their new goodies.
Oh and Akita, this is by far not the bastard child of X-Wing or Descent, this is going to be the next version of Elite, the game that made CCP want to create EVE-Online.

This look good, as mentioned before this is not for EVE...but it would be good if CCP could implement this design within the new EVE engine/patch.
Thing is though, that CAN NOT be Earth as Saturn is too close. Although, it could be Tiamat, a watery planet with some land, 5 times bigger than Earth and its close to Saturn...but then Tiamat got blown up 2,000 years ago LOL.
The stations look nice and crispy, I noticed that the planets altitude from land to space is a bit too short aswell.
The should go ahead with this, but..for a different game other than EVE..why the hell is it here? :)

Seriously, its a FPS which is NOT what EvE is about. It might entice all the twitch players/WoW kiddies to go somewhere else and bring some tactics back to Eve though....

I love the EVE the way it is, but I wouldnt mind having individual pilots inside each fighter and they would be playing a fps style combat while the rest of us do it the old fashion eve-way! ^^

However which one takes more skill, ctrl-clicking a box on the screen, hitting approach and pushing F1 to F8 or throwing an Immelmann in zero-G while avoiding flak/something similar from own support ships?
Seriously this is apples vs oranges. Infinity has already been specced to be something completely different than EVE and it will clearly cater another category of users. What really matters is overall execution.

I'm sure they have banned many EVE players from their site. All they seem to do is mock EVE and the people who play it, that forum exudes arrogance on a scale even this one doesn't know. Yeah, give me a shout when they go gold and have 30,000 online.
