Man its been 3 months and I"m still a complete noob this sucks. I want to fly a battleship efficiently but I still lack the skills. I have trained my learning skills and even have +3 implants but still training takes soo long.
I wish I could grind skills to finish in a few days instead of waiting a month.

True, but I agree somewhat. I think the skill training is juuuuust a bit too long. I think that's one reason EVE subscription is "low" (not that 30+k on a single server is "low"). Personally, I'd like to see training take about 75-80% of the time it currently takes. I'm sure people will flame me, but I think a little faster training would get more ppeople in the game. OTOH, this is basically a PvP game, so maybe there's a method to the madness. :)

That's right murky baller! I must agree with you on skill training, i relly sucks. The consept is good, but i would take 30 yo 40% from the training times away. I want to fly a carrier before the year ends, not after 20 years of playing (20 years because carrier is last thing i train).

I've been playing for almost a year, and I still frequently fly Rifters (and have fun doing it).

Bzzt. Sorry, but your answer is incorrect. Thanks for playing though. You can catch up. Specialize. There is only so much SP you can gain to improve a specific task. What the older players have over newer players is versatility. ---

Also you won't be long in this game when you can actually play a very meaningful role in small gang to fleet ops. The frigate tackle, no tackle no kill, is a great and very challenging role that new pilots can learn the skills for and take even longer to master.

Yes, but EVE is a game that doesn't provide instant gratification.

lol. This comment makes me laugh. They're both games.
However, they're very different game.
There is a mentality some players in Eve have that I think comes from playing games like WoW, games where you level up and get better all the time. They play Eve, and they want to constantly go for the next big thing, the next "level" so to speak. They don't think there's any point in flying frigates (even tech 2 frigates) unless you're a newbie.
Thanks to the change that happened right around when I first started playing, new characters now start with 800k sp instead of 30k something. Within a couple of days you can be flying cruisers. Within a couple of weeks you can be flying battleships. So now (with this mentality mentioned above), why would you ever be flying anything less than battleships except for those first few weeks, right?
Well, except you can't fit them well, you can't fly them well, you don't know what you're doing and you can't afford replacing them when you lose them... Ooopss... Dissappointment.
The thing about Eve though is that almost all ships are important and useful. Especially when it comes to tech 2 ships. Which would you say is better between a covert ops ship, an Interdictor and a Command ship? You can't compare like that. They are all useful ships in a fleet, even though there's a price and an sp difference. There is no "leveling" in that sense. You can spend your entire "Eve life" only flying small ships, and do very well at it.
Now, if someone just really wants to specialize in battleships, that's another story. Yes, it is going to take more time, but a lot of the skills you need for battleships are also useful for smaller ships and you can be flying them in the meantime. As an added bonus, you get to learn to play the game without losing loads of ISK all the time.

Keep in mind flying something effectively also involves your own damn experience, not just your SP. I was in a battleship at 3 months. Got into fleet battles about a month later, didnt even lose that BS for another 3-4 months when i got ganked ratting.
Quit *****ing and go learn :P
Be satisfied with what you have as well.. the higher end stuff might seem fun, but they can also be a pain in the ass (namely getting the money for them, and losing them). _____

What sets Eve apart is its slower, more tactical approach to improving yourself.
This is a game where you must wait for things you want.
When you finally get it, it feels all the better.
