On the other hand, I had a "talk" with a guy in one channel. It all started very innocent. As I usually do, I linked there the news about null PVE and stuff. Most of the time ppl dont have the time to read the long dev blogs or are bad at english so it helps them when someone explains them the stuff in the chat. Now hes a goon, before he was in Amarr FW and in Provi to earn money for plex. He was very happy with these chances, until he discovered the null wh nerfs. That was the trigger ...
He stared to be like, CCP cant force us to fly 40 jumps through gates and stuff. So I explained that maybe CCP wants them to fight locally, with neighbours. It was a bad idea, it was like putting gas into flames ... So now I know that because I'm in WH I cant see how the null space is empty, how player leave and stuff. So I ended it like adapt or go, play another game and switched to another chat. I dunno if all ppl in null are like that now, or its just as usuall the Czech ppl are complaining about Everything ... I stopped reading our cz/sk forum because all the complaining ... LIke I dont like many changes to EVE, but dont cry about them, I adapt or I will look for something else. |

Just came from a protracted argument over the most silly thing in Out of Character chan. Kinda semi-RPing, as I do, mentioned that I was chilling in my ship's lounge while the crew handled the piloting. Easy, 'cause it's just afk cloaking.
Welp, that didn't sit well with someone because apparently in Lore you cannot leave your pod while in ship. This person said something a little snarky to me, I said something a little snarky back and this silliness escalated into a full blown argument with other people chiming in with links and lore stuff showing how it may be possible to leave your pod, etc.
In the end I think we both took a breath, stepped away. A short while later we both apologized for being stupid. Both of us having had bad weeks it seems and a very short fuse.
Though it is the second time this week (and the only 2 times in 5 years of RP here) that I've had someone get upset at me because something me/my characters mention goes against some lore. Other time was a few days ago when Erica mentioned in Summit the time she tried to kill herself, shooting her clone in the head. She woke up again, when one of her "backup" clones was woken, though with a loss of some memory. This is Soft-cloning, a 'thing' used heavily by many RPers (the majority in fact) to explain how we continue living on even if killed outside the pod (which happens a lot in the RP community).
Well ... this person's character went apeshit at Erica, accusing her of being a liar and this, and that. Then blocked her/me and the other character I was talking too because they too used the soft cloning concept. I was a little stunned by this reaction, and they continued to rant and carry on in the OOC channel about it, despite being linked numerous lore sources supporting the soft cloning concept. 
Some folks really are sticklers for precise adhesion to published lore and nothing else.
Me, I actually know very little about Lore and don't read or follow it very much. While I like to think my RP itself is very high quality when I'm seriously RPing, I keep the framework casual and loose. It's about fun, afterall, so long as it's simply believable and reasonable.
