PvP is in a sad state right now, with everyone logging off to avoid any kind of PvP they know they wont definitely win. Let me start from the beginning:
Advanced Logistics is scouting the trade routes around L4X-1V because we heard of pirate activity, being a logistics company we thought it would be a good idea to try to remove the pirates ourselves before contacting mercenaries.
We set out to the last known location of these pirates, and low and behold.. the pirates themselves are attempting to move freighters. We offered them a very generous hauling rate previously and they offended us by not responding, so we decided to play with their escort.
This was a bad idea. They out-gunned us heavily and had some EW, which we did not have. Additionally, our ships were not very well tanked.. and they had a pair of gank battleships. We jumped in, had a bit of a scuffle and decided to bail, losing two Deimos in the process.
Now we were really upset, what was just meant as a prank on our competitors had just turned into a blood feud. We went back to our empire base and gathered up the biggest ships we could find. We were ready to roll. Our scout pilot spent the entire 5-10 minutes it took us to refit and roll out in new ships bubbling the enemy gang, including the enemy freighters. We could taste the revenge.
10 minutes later our fleet arrived at the gate to the system where the enemy gang was being held up. We were discussing the best way to attack them when all of a sudden, most of the enemy gang warped off to random objects and had started to safe and log.
From there the pressure was on our covert ops pilot to probe out as many ships as he could, we had two of the three freighters bubbled in safes, but they disappeared some-how after a short while (even though their rapier had webbed them <15m before).
However, the evening was not a complete waste of time. The enemy Armageddon, Abaddon and Myrmidon did not manage to shake their PvP timer so they will all log back into a clone-vat. Just annoying we did not get the total-hell-death we deserved.
Statistics (1st engagement): Deimos (lost) + Deimos (lost) + Scimitar + Sabre + Sabre vs Abaddon, Armageddon, Falcon, Myrmidon, Eos, Rapier
Statistics (2nd engagement): Sleipnir, Astarte, Astarte, Ishtar, Falcon, Sabre vs Abaddon (lost), Armageddon (lost), Falcon, Myrmidon (lost), Eos, Rapier

Freighters are a bit 'funky' when they log out. There is a known bug where the ship is often 'there', but you cannot target it, and it simply disappears. I believe it's something to do with the freighter agility, the server 'thinks' it's in warp (hence you cannot target it), but because they manoeuvre like stuck pigs they are actually still 'aligning' and hence, in some netherworld between the two....
Very very frustrating...

That's not funky, it's just that they take so long to warp ... and if you tackle them, they will disappear without warping off (but not log on at the same spot).
I wish CCP would fix stuff like the "WTZ, jump, log off" tactic for 100% safe travel in 0.0 (with no dictors/bubbles present) that has been abused by freighters countless times.

Eh? I haven't ever logged to avoid death. I think it is crap to do it and i have said openly in many threads that they should add a aggro timer when you jump through gates of x minutes (5 at least, die loggers die). I had a really bad connection about 3-5 months ago because my filter was old but apart from that, i'm not too sure what you are getting at.

Maybe they should reconsider the game they play if they need to play an online game offline. The way some folks smash at ctrl q you would think it was a real world loss and not some internet pixels.

Perhaps I was implying that you're pretty dumb to be surprised by this.
You failed to trap them, and that's entirely your fault. I know you're good, but you missed this time, you're just bitter about it, and thought it was worth a CAOD post. Only in Eve are there people who think space ships cannot evade others in space; no nebulas or stars to hide behind when you missed to warp scramble them.

Oh boo hoo how terrible they used game mechanics to escape. CCP doesnt consider logging an exploit and therefor it isnt. Excuse me if i dont take my hat off to someone who thinks its more sensible to loose the frieghter than save it. No wonder BoBs pulling back in the war.

I really dont blame the people playing. I mean, if you offer mostly any person in this world a quick and easy war around a problem in the face of undoubted failure, they will take it immediately. Thats how we have evolved tbh....
CCP need to fix this, you simply shouldnt be able to save a ship by not being in the game anymore. I dont care if its scrambled before, after or during logging off, the ship shouldnt disappear at all, even if its taking you 4 and a half hours to kill it.
But lets be fair, your saying its a sad state of affairs right now, its not, its always been this way, for aslong as I can remember people have logged off to avoid death.

This fleet of yours took too long to assemble, we did wait for 45 minutes and then we left, we didn't log in space to avoid you, we went back the way we came.
We could of had a good fight with what numbers we had:
Abaddon + Armageddon + Eos + Falcon + Rapier + Myrmidon vs Sleipnir + Astarte + Astarte + Ishtar + Falcon + Sabre
I'm definately not very well learned in PvP, but I think the fight could have gone decently for you. If I were in your shoes, I would have made my priorities something like this:
1. Web the two Astartes, keep them at range. 2. Pound on anything that moves towards you. 3. Kill Astartes.
Pretty simple, your Rapier was fairly unlikely to get jammed, given that you had a Falcon of your own to jam ours - and escort Rapiers should have ECCM so they defiantely get a lock on their Freighter to web them to safety..
Too bad that did not occur to you, or an interesting and challenging fight would have been enjoyed by both parties, instead you opted to log off and die whilst screaming for help on the alliance TeamSpeak..

You know what would have made me think you had left the system? If you had used the stargate instead of warping to a planet in the middle of no where and dropping from local.

A) That comment wasnt directed at you it was directed to the BOB guy. Read more carefully.
B) You attacked freighters with a small group of ships defending it. If the frieghters wernt in play on any other occasion you would loose. You guys should stick to your logistics since your obviously better at that then everyone else but leave the pvp to peeps who can snag the ships they are going for rather than fail and whine about it.

Read what more carefully? You were implying it is more sensible to log the freighters off than to risk losing them whilst logged on, weren't you?

We attacked a small group of ships that happened to be escorting freighters. We had no idea in the first engagement that you had freighters, we just thought you were trying to move your "small group" deep into 0.0 to camp our supply lines.

Hmm ok well it obviously was sensible logging em off since they all survived and your now all upset and whining about it.
The fact that you werent clever enough to spot what was going on doesnt change the fact that it was the right move. Dont Really know why we would be camping your supply lines since you dont have any space.
err... lets see what else. oh yeah you failed at rebuttle that there were frieghters in play with your very clever comment. If the freighters wernt your intended target then maybe you should look for combat fleets to engage for pvp rather then escort an party. Point is your not really in a position to talk about pvp since you missed the oppertunity and we dont see people on coad commending advanced logistics for their uber pvpness and probably for good reason.
This thread fails... you fail. enough from me. reply to that if you must but your comming off a bit lame. This is hardly a worthy thread even if it is the most action youve seen for 6 months.

Yeah, I wasn't clever enough to see people warp off and leave local, then bring in a covert ops and immediately start scanning for people.. oh wait.
Originally by: Gyle Dont Really know why we would be camping your supply lines since you dont have any space.
We are employed by people who do hold space, for our competitive rates we are granted permission to sell modules and munitions. So yes, it is a supply line for us.

We just figured you guys would fight as hard for yours as we would fight for ours. I knew it was not realistic to kill the freighters if they logged off, I just did not expect the escort fleet to log off, hence the post.

Please, enough from you. Plenty of other people have seen fit to read it, reply to it and a few have even logged on to Ventrilo and had a good chuckle about it...
As for us not seeing a lot of action, well, of course. We are usually too busy moving things, but lately with the jump freighters being in development business has been rather slow. Can you blame us for getting bored in low-sec?
