Using
Windows Xp
7900GTO
3gig of ram
Core duo 1.86 (fail I know)
I'm pretty sure you need an 8-series nvidia card to get HDR+AA. You may, however, be able to get AA working by itself. Have a look here. ...

Doesn't seem to work for me...
8880 Ultra. I did everything there, HDR works but AA is non-existent. The edges are ridiculously jagged.
Is this thread outdated maybe?

Why?? It doesn't work for most people... I have never ever been able to get it to work with my 8800 GTX and reading around it seems a lot of people have the problem.
The problem needs to be fixed by CCP... |

I would agree that it'd be nice if some sort of AA option was available in the menus in-game. However, I can confirm using nHancer with the hexadecimal AA compatibility hack works on my GTX 280, Forceware 177.41.
Remember that it only works in full screen mode. |

I've tried everything in this thread. I simply cannot get AA and HDR working on my EVGA 9800GX2. And I'm curious as to why this might be. From reading in this thread, there's a bunch of nvidia cards out there that have the ability to force AA and HDR. Mine can't.
I'll have to use Google to dig deeper for an answer and hopefully a solution to this problem.

For me, I had to remove Nhancer from my system. It was causing random crashes & lockups
I'm guessing it's because I'm running Vista 64 (and we all know what happens when software tries doing something it shouldn't on there). Used to get the occasional crash on XP pro but not as bad as with Vista (I'm running a dual boot so have had the added luxury of testing both)!!
And that was tested with: (old GFX - XP Pro & VIsta 64) 8800GTX
(New GFX - XP Pro & Vista 64) GTX 260 (x2) in either stand alone config or SLI
Also tried the above cards on the other 2 house pc's which have just the one O/S installed (one has vista 64, the other XP Pro) And identical results!!
I do recall reading somewhere on the Nvidia site of issues trying to enable AA & HDR simultaneously with certain cards.. guessing they still haven't resolved it yet

WARNING
Be VERY careful when using nHancer.. I too didnt really see any harm in simply changing the AA compatability settings, they are even listed as a "safe" setting to change, if i remember correctly.
But after playing with the premium gfx for a month or so, i found out about nHancer, so i downloaded it, and tried it out. Granted it worked well to get AA + HDR in eve via the Oblivion compatability code.
However the framerate drop was big, so some dudes on the forums recommended to switch to another compatability code, which would reduce the drastic drop in fps. I had already tried about 3 others, with no effect, but the fourth one i tried had drastic consequences.
My entire graphics card just died as soon as i started up the game again, bam. Screen went black, monitor led-light flashing, totally dead, forced to buy a new one for Ç150. So again, be very careful, apparantly those tweaks are NOT harmless, and could very well completely pwn your graphics card, dont mess with nHancer unless you are prepared to buy a new graphics card. Piece of **** application, indeed :)

Didnt work for me at first either, but you gotta turn off HDR ingame, then turn it back on, then switch the advanced setting "Interval" thingy to "interval default", then back at "interval immediate" if u want, THEN it will work.
It seems like eve needs to re-set some settings before it'll work. ------------------------- This post represents my entire corp's views and opinions. Not.. ;( |

Well, I just wan't to point out that this doesn't prove that nHancer is the application at fault. This might as well have happened anyway. I mean electronics do fail. Might be something simple as bad ventilation in your box. Heat is often the sinner when it comes to electronics dieing.

I have an issue with Nhancer, and it may be my computer, or it may be one of my settings, or possibly it is just how it works...
I have Nhancer working fine most times and it looks great, much better than without, no jagged edges, but then sometimes, especially when I warp into a grid with many other players on it, or something when I jump systems, I lose the affect of Nhancer, I have tons of jagged edges again.
So what I must do it minimize Eve, and right click on the Nhancer icon and activate my "Eve Profile" manually and then tab back into Eve and it is fine again, until the next time it happens, and it happens enough to be a big pain in the ass.
Anyone know how to fix this issue?

A word for users using 8xx series cards (8800 GT etc)
I recently updated my graphics drivers to compensate for poor GTA IV performance. This had the effect of causing major CPU load when I was zoomed in on a ship. I later learned that the antialiasing I was using (Supersampling 32x) was no longer supported by Forceware 8xx drivers. Changing this to Coversage Sample 16x solved the issue (16xQ still gave some slowdown). I still think that the latest foreware drivers are a wee bit fuzzy with the AA, but I would recomend usings of 8 series cards look at knocking down the antialiasing if they ever get any strange heavy cpu load/lag.

Applications can't cause hardware failures unless there is an inherrant weakness in the hardware its being run on. The card failed while you were using Nhancer, likely becasue the AA/AF you used increased the load on it and caused a weakness to be exposed. It SHOULD work fine you just got a bad card. ---------------------------------

You're wrong there.. Badly written apps can cause hardware failures. Which is why most software that attempts to change what the hardware is supposed to do comes with a disclaimer.
e.g. You use software to increase the clock frequency of your gfx card.. card burns out! software caused the failure by overriding the default card settings. So was the gfx card to blame ? NOPE - software was.
Same when using N-Hancer - it forces the card to run at values that are not default. Whilst some of the settings are of use (usually due to bad game design), you use the software at your own risk.

Software can cause hardware failure, but only when you are trying to overvolt, overclock or modify bios, otherwise I call bull****. nhancer was not the fault of his video card to fail, it just pushed his card to the max and the card failed. The card would have died all the same if he ran heavy GPU stress tests or GPU intensive games with high AA-AS-HDR-Res settings.

Well, glad to see NUBS are abound every where. YES idiots, software CAN and DOES damage hardware. Especially when that software is DESIGNED to tweak the hardware functions. Stressing a card beyond its designed limits IS a software issue, not a hardware weakness. If they wanted the card to function in that way, the default tools would most likely allow it. But if the default tools do not allow a certain function, it is on YOUR ASS if it fails the hardware.

Actually he is right and you are the nubblet. Only software that is designed to tweak the hardware functions (Freq., Vcore, BIOS) can directly damage you hardware. And there is a huge warning on all of this applications that they can do that. If your card died running eve with nhancer it means it had a design flaw (insufficient cooling of memory modules is the no. 1 issue, core shutdowns when overheated, memories does not). Nhancer only modifies the settings of D3D and OpenGL rendering via game profiles, it has nothing to do with the hardware control.

Hi everyone - I'm new to EVE Online and of course I'd like it to look the best way possible. But I can't seem to get nHance do work. Am I doing anything wrong?
This is my hardware:
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
- 4.096 MB DDR2 RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280
These are my nHancer settings: Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.
I choose Tool>Activate Profile>Eve Online and nothing happens to the graphics of the game... what am I doing wrong?
By the way, I'm using Windows Vista 64-bit, dunno if that's relevant but I've had issues with that before, so I thought I'd just mention it.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Untick the dx10 AA compatiblity and set the normal AA compat to 0xf0000045 as described in the start of this thread. It should work fine then.
Also trilinear optimalization is disabled when texture filtering is set to high quality. And you might want to disable v-sync since you aren not gonna get high frame rates anyway with 4x4 supersampling (3x3 will run pretty smooth though, so I recommend you set it to that if you run into perfomance issues) _

The dropdown menue of my nHancer (version 2.4.5) doesn't provide any "0xf0000045". I can only choose from the following options:
- 00000000: general compatibility
- 00000005: AA & HDR
- 00000018: HL2 engine (A)
- 00000044: AA & HDR
- 00000045: AA & HDR
- 00000145: AA & HDR
- 00000200: Splinter Cell 4
- 00000244: Vanguard
- 0000f0c1: STALKER
- 20000000: EA Strategy Games
- 200100c5: Oblivion
- 40000000: AA & HDR
- 40000018: HL2 Engine (B)
- 80000000: SplinterCell: CT
Since Laetaveinn said, he uses "AAComap: 45", I thought "00000045: AA & HDR" is the one to choose? And what about the CPU Multi Core support? When I switch it on, the "Not all settings in this profile can be activated automatically in Direct3D games. Use it for an OpenGL game only or activate it manually!" message appears. What should I do about that?
