Anyway...Haven't tried Winex lately. Any luck? The big problem with the white screens is the DX9 shaders AFAIK. WineX doesn't support them yet.
TomB, if there was a way to disable some of the advanced DX9 stuff in the prefs.ini file, that's go a very long way to letting us run EVE in Linux.
Ok, this interested me greatly, is this a REAL SS, or is something pulling our collective leg?

I've been playing eve with linux since last year.
You need Cedega 4.3, which i'm using on Debian unstable, Kernel 2.6.10 with NVidia drivers.
It's working well enough for a carebear like me 
PvP would not be as good as with windows, because eve is 50%-60% slower with linux.
I get crashes when i'm near Minmatar gates or stations, but why should i go there anyway... 
Perhaps when you zoom all the way out it could work, i didn't test that tough.

ive got eve running under cedega well enough to do combat in and without it crashing, still have mouse pointer issues though. I fixed them once accidentally and then went and fiddled with more settings to get performance up and whatever i did broke them again. i really wish i remember what i did - ill keep fiddling.
gentoo amd64 with cedega 4.3 btw and a geforce 6600gt (so nvidia drivers - pretty win with linux support)

i never could understand linux users when it came too working it for gamming.
any os that is open source for all too mess with is just a hackers dream.
linux is only good for the office/servers.
i could see no real use for it too the home user.
the only good i see with that os, is it uses less resources and will run better on weaker pc's, if you can get software too work with it.
thou, i am no pro with it.

Because they are enthusiasts who like to tinker. Like people who overclock hardware or install intercoolers and nitrous kits on their cars.
It's also a challenge. They like to solve hard problems. I have found these very useful employees.

Further, NSA choose Linux for SELinux, their secure port with mandatory access control built into the kernel. NSA was forced to give it up by the MS lobby. (Don't even start with the tinfoil hat, all of the code has been audited)

Incorrect. Linux is open source. UNIX is a commercial product.
Similarly, net/free/open/dragonfly BSDs are open source, straight BSD and OS X are both commercial BSD-based products.
