Ok guys, so after some reconsiderations, I've come to this solo-piracy setup for my Raven. Tell me what you think about it. What would you change?

Mid 3x Compulsive Multispectral ECM I 1x X-Large Shield Booster II 1x Prototype 1 Sensor Booster 1x Warp Disruptor II
Low 2x Warp Core Stabilizer I 1x 'Pandemonium' I Ballistic Enhancement 2x Type-E Power Core Modification: Shield Flux

How current was this information?
Are you aware of the penalties for fitting a WCS, let alone two?
With two WCS you won't be able to lock anything, they will simply warp away, everything up to and including ships you probably won't be able to kill anyway.

first things first: bs's arent very good solo ships!
even a t1 fitted interceptor can keep you pinned till his big buddys arive, and no, stabs arent going to save you from more than 1 ship
and with 2 stabs its going to take a lot of time to target something, giving prey long enough to escape is a bad thing.....

Edited by: AnKahn on 17/01/2008 22:13:46 Edited by: AnKahn on 17/01/2008 22:10:00 I'll give you a lot of credit. If you keep this amount of persistance you will eventually prevail.
The problem is mostly with the ship you have chosen to solo PvP in.
Try a Myrm. First learn to armor tank, it is one of the easiest things to skill up. Then get scout drones to tech II, that takes 10 days or so. Train Gallente.
Set up Myrm with dual rep armor tank. If you cant shoot guns fill the highs with neuts and nos (altho I heard neuts were nerfed somehow, which would suck cause CCP told us "there's still nuets" when they atomic nerfed NOS). Mids with cap injector and tackling stuff (2X web, wd, MWD). Please dont make fun of my Myrm set up ideas cause I have no clues on the details except 1)armor tank so mids free to tackle 2) drone damage (sorry you guys lost the 5 ogres thing but mediums do OK with the bonus I think) and 3)highs either more damage or cap warfare. AND it's much faster than Caldari.
So you have tank, gank (bleeder anyway), tackle, and some speed.
Your FoF stab Ewar Raven you have very little of any.
Someone once said they set up ships to do one thing very well. Your ship lacks focus.
Edit. spelling, word choice. Edit2 few more typos

Lee, most of the posters here are trolls. To be honest, your setup is so stupid that I was tempted to troll and tell you it's good. However, I'll assume you're just a clueless newbie who needs a little direction.
#1) 95%+ of PvP occurs at short range. Ditch the cruise launchers for torps. Also, you may want to fit a target painter to help your torps deal full damage.
#2) NOS is pretty useless for big ships in PvP unless you really know what you're doing. I'd fit a heavy energy neutralizer to chase off nano-ships.
#3) You cannot get to your target, you cannot pin your target in place, therefore, any enemy who cannot beat you will simply run. Fit an MWD (MicroWarpDrive) and stasis webifier.
#4) ECM sucks on non-specialized boats. Ditch it.
#5) You have no resist modules at all. An Amarr boat will cut through your shields like a hot knife through butter... heck, even a Minmatar boat. Admittedly, though, a solo Raven usually is low on midslots for shield resist mods.
#6) That sensor booster isn't that necessary, and it takes a precious tanking slot. Out with it.
#7) That XL booster won't run long without a cap injector. Either downgrade to Large or fit an injector.
#8) Warp core stabilizers cut your locking range and locking time horrendously (not to mention take precious slots). Out with them.
#9) Shield fluxes are horrible, and there is no reason to ever use them. If you want shield recharge, use shield power relays. However, this is a Raven, which is almost always active shield tanked. This means power diagnostics or cap fluxes for additional cap recharge. Passive shield regen is only a tiny part of your tank.
#10) There is no reason why you shouldn't be fitting 3 ballistic control systems for major gank.
#11) You have a drone bay. Use it.
#12) You most likely have neither the skills nor experience to fly a battleship competently in PvP. Go back to frigates/cruisers and learn how PvP works and train up the support skills before hopping back in the big bad boys.
Overall, your Raven setup is a slow, low-DPS, short-on-capacitor, poorly tanked hunk of junk which sacrifices tanking slots for a laughable attempt at Ewar and is only barely able to tackle. Any competent cruiser pilot could kill your ship with laughable ease.
This is a more typical setup (some compromises may have to be made).
6x torp launchers (Arbalest is probably getting cheaper) 0-2x heavy energy neutralizers
100MN Microwarpdrive Warp disruptor Stasis webifier Target painter XL shield booster Heavy capacitor booster (this is the cap injector)
3x Ballistic Control System 1x Damage Control (unit) Power diagnostic system/co-processor/wildcard ------------------- I nerfed my own sig To amuse you, here is my Retriever ever since its first Trinity deployment. RIP. * * * * ** * * * ** * * * * * *** * ** ** |

Osiris... This isn't the first time Lee has posted his raven PvP setup. He just doesn't get it.
The last one had WCS, and everyone told him. This post is still here.
There is only one way this guy is going to learn... a baptism of fire. The best we can do is make sure he survives at least long enough to see how he is getting so badly owned. Go for the tank.

WCS and Cargo expanders would be really good, because they are relatively cheap modules.

Thanks for the time and the explanations Acoco, and for the stupid f-uck with its cargo expander ****: screw you man! I'm a noob and ask for some experienced people to just help me a little. Here is the copy paste of a recent piracy guide i found surfing:
"Ok, on to the actual loadouts. First, if you want to be successful and maintain a kill to death ratio like 9-1, then you must use at minimum two warp core stabs on your battleship at all times(to get away from gank squads). You must also always have at least one sensor booster and one warp disruptor fitted to your ship at all time and always turned on so you can catch your prey easily. Drones are very important, always bring medium drones (unless you have a ship that uses nos or energy neuts, in which case you can slow down frigs and cruisers enough to use heavy drones on them). Also, always insure your battleship fully and always use standard equipment (unless you can afford tech 2 or named but even then you still donĘt need it). Here are my setups for the four best all around pirating ships in the game(they happen to be battleships).
Raven ū Lock down your target with the multispec target jammers then do what you want with him.
High: 6 Cruise Launchers, 2 medium or heavy Nos Med: 1 warp disruptor, 1 sensor booster, 4 multispec jammers Low: medium armor rep, 2 warp core stabs, 2 ballistic controls or even more warp core stabs, you can never have too many."
So it's all bull**** right?

That would have worked about 5 patches ago. Since that setup (presumably) nos have been nerfed, jammers have been nerfed, and stabs have been nerfed.
And damage controls introduced, which are in all ways more use than a MAR. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

Not everything on the internet about EVE is true. The advice given to you in this thread is good and you should take heed. But you probably won't and you'll get owned trying to pirate a rifter when you're in a raven.

Yadda yadda yadda
Lee, you have NO right to complain about people here. You have already asked for help in another thread, and there where plenty of useful comments in there.
I can see from you're loadout that you took VERY little of that advice, so don't complain about people who are doing the best thing in a bad situation... laughing about it!
You seem to think that a multispectral jammer is an IWIN button... it ISN'T. Its clear that you don't understand how ewar works, so go and read up about it first... the multispectral EATS cap for breakfast, lunch and a three course meal for dinner. What does it get you?
Most multispectrals have around a 2.4 (a GOOD one). More than one doesn't improve your chances... Against another battleship, you will have around a 1 in 18 chance of forcing a lock... and you want kill ratios of 9-1??? as was said, this attempt at ewar is laughable, and thats what people are doing...
The quote you have is clearly from a source that wasn't exactly expert and is out of date. Either that or just plain wrong/a joke.
Now... many times on this and your other thread people have tried to tell you to get into something smaller, and practice, so you understand the mechanics and the importance of these modules... go and DO it. Ask for some help for a cruiser or a BC setup, and you might get taken seriously!
Honestly... read the new player guides, stickies etc first before you go near a pirate specific thread. READ THE EWAR GUIDE. Get the eve fitting tool, and learn how to use that. Its a GREAT way of figuring out what you can and can't do.

Edited by: pandymen on 18/01/2008 01:40:20 Lee,
I will say this one more time so you do not post another setup with ECM jammers/warp core stabs.
That guide you have was from before 2005. Back then, ECM's weren't nerfed yet and neither were warp core stabs. Now in 2008, ecm is much less effective and is only justifiably used on a specialized ecm boat (blackbird, rook, falcon, scorpion). Warp core stabs are just a horrible idea.
Since you apparently have realized why someone said warp core stabs are only good with cargo expanders...he was referring to the fact that warp core stabs should only used on haulers...where you would also have cargo expanders fitted.
I enjoy pvping in my raven; however, for solo pvp, you need a different setup than most of the ones posted here. Simply put...you can't shield tank it...in fact, I don't armor tank it either.
6x siege launcher 2x heavy neutralizer
1x heavy cap booster 1x web 1x scram 1x mwd 2x sensor damp
2x nanos 2x overdrive injectors 1x cap flux (the one that nerfs shield boosting ability) (or use 1 dmg control)
Most people will look at this and be like eh? But honestly, with that flimsy shield tank..or even a flimsier armor tank, you can't survive against any other race's battleship. Heck, you'll be lucky to survive against most hacs.
Your best bet is to put in the sensor damps to force them closer and make a ship that can actually catch them and neut their tank to hell while dealing out torp dmg.....
If you need to have a tank to feel safe...hull tank it. That's your only chance. And yes, I know they nerfed damps...but do you realize how few ppl bother fitting range scripts? Quite a few ships are going around w/o sensor boosters or at least without any extended range. So those 2 damps still do quite a bit.
