If you are getting the error "Incompatible (Protocol)" when trying to connect to Tranquility post Trinity 1.0.2 patch, it is because of this previous patch. To alleviate the problem please visit this news article for further instructions.
Originally by: Fix for error Incompatible (Protocol) after Trinity 1.0.2 Patch
Due to an unforeseen side-effect of the attempt at compiled code patching back in January it appears that the newly patched Trinity 1.0.2 client was still using the downloaded compiled.code from the hotfix in January, and thus the machonet version number did not match. If you are getting the error "Incompatible (Protocol)" when trying to connect to Tranquility post Trinity 1.0.2 patch, it is because of this previous patch. To alleviate the problem you need to do one of the following:
- Go into the following directory, and delete the contents:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP Vista: C:\ProgramData\CCP Mac: /Users//Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/All Users/Application Data/CCP Linux: /.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data
- If you using a shortcut to launch Eve, you can simply change the case of the link, for example change C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE to C:\program files\ccp\eve

Please make sure you have "Hidden files and folders" checked to display.
You can see this by using the drop down menu and selecting "Tools", then "Folder Options", "View" and finally check "Show hidden files and folders"

Edited by: anomalousresult on 19/02/2008 15:39:44 In xp to see the files open up windows explorer and it's under Tools>Folder Options
It is recommended that you put them back to hidden afterwards to save you deleting stuff you need etc.
Edit: Beaten. Dang. Reiteration can't hurt though.

That's a really bad idea to have users enable that setting. A really, really bad idea....

How about a patch that doesn't destroy our computers or force us to fix it ourselves? Is that too much to ask?

So why does deleting a folder the software shouldn't even be referencing work? I was under the impression that if I used the "/END/LUA:OFF" switches to keep all my settings seperate, it would revert to keeping all the data in a local folder rather than a common one?

As said, the patch on Jan 17th was crappy and touched parts of the system it should not.
