It's not on the list of things to be fixed. Have you bugreported it?

Tammaria,
The post that they are pointing everyone to here: http://myeve.eve-online.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1793&tid=1, doesn't say a thing about going to the C:\Program Data\CCP folder in Vista. At leaset not in a way that is easy for non-power users to understand.

I pay CCP for this game - not for me to have to dig around in my system to delete folders and stuff that your programers are paid for.
This is costing me valuable time.

Well done CCP, well done.

Check out Step 3 of my post on page 7 of this thread. It'll lay out the other directory you need to go to.
Would a dev please update the notes on the page they are point everyone to for fixing this problem for Vista to reflect the correct directory???
Um, the DEV post points exactly to that directory. What makes your post different?
Quote: Go into the following directory, and delete the contents: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP Vista: C:\Program Data\CCP Mac: /Users//Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/All Users/Application Data/CCP Linux: /.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data
Where does it say any of that?
Quote: Windows (XP and Vista):
Press START and select Run on Windows XP, in Vista, press START and paste the link into "Start search" ( which is directly above the START button " Easiest is to use the Windows button on your keyboard + R ( works on both Vista and XP ). Copy "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\CCP" ( without the " ) into the address bar of the window that opened and Press Enter Remove the folder called "EVE". Start the game and log in.
You would think that the link would be noted as well, if we were to paste it into something.

The CCP offered fix isn't working for me either, even when i enable hidden files. Time for CCP to stop hiring progammers straight out of community colleges and get some skilled people working for them. Guess i shall wait for the patch tomorrow to fix all this.

jesus christ
another patch, another screwup, another couple of hours wasted trying to fix someone else's error. I only have 2 or three hours a night to enjoy myself. I'm not enjoying myself anymore in Eve when I can't even log on.
I just have to shake my head at my own stupidity at paying for this level of incompetence. Well, I'll be jumping ship as soon as another internet spaceships game comes up... I've had enough of CCPs inadequacies.
GG CCP. You sure showed the naysayers!

Dear CCP,,
The last few patches have proven to be rather dodgy, and has upset a lot of people. As a freelance coder i know that glitches CAN appear when u patch a program, but for the sake of all code,,, I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHY YOU HAD SINGULARITY AND MULTIPLICITY!!!!
If you're low on staff that can do debugging and testing on the code before you implement it, i have a notion that there are quite a few wellversed people on the forums that whouldn't mind working with you to do that (either fulltime or freelance), my self included.
Said shortly,, you've made a "golden egg" with eve, don't waste it like that (please,, first MMORPG i really love).
Best regards,
Ooyama.

Originally by: Fix for error Incompatible (Protocol) after Trinity 1.0.2 Patch
Due to an unforeseen side-effect of the attempt at compiled code patching back in January it appears that the newly patched Trinity 1.0.2 client was still using the downloaded compiled.code from the hotfix in January, and thus the machonet version number did not match. If you are getting the error "Incompatible (Protocol)" when trying to connect to Tranquility post Trinity 1.0.2 patch, it is because of this previous patch. To alleviate the problem you need to do one of the following:
Step by Step Guide
Windows (XP and Vista):
[list=1]Press START and select Run on Windows XP, in Vista, press START and paste the link into "Start search" ( which is directly above the START button " Easiest is to use the Windows button on your keyboard + R ( works on both Vista and XP ). In XP Copy ô%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\CCPö ( without the ô ) into the address bar of the window that opened and Press Enter.
I don't have any ccp-stuff at that location, yes I have show hidden on etc.

But noooo, ccp has to have a downtime of 3 whole hours rather than just 2? Why does it take so long to apply such a small and silly patch that should have worked in the first place, dammnit?
Edit: numerous spelling mistakes

Because it's not your own little calculator application?... I'd think things dealing with people loggin on is rather serious and they want it secure and working and what not?
Anyways, just wanted to say that I really love this game and really think CCP are great for having made it in the first place, and for keeping it running as well as it does. The majority of the time it's up 23/7...
I for one could not have done it better.. and 2 extra hours of DT is fine and good... Almost as if I could have done things like.. I don't know, gone outside!?
*goes back to play Homeworld while waiting, that going outside bit was a joke*

What gets on my mammary glands about the past 24 hours is not the inconvenience to paying customers, the fact that it's the paying customers who were supplying a fix before the "powers that be" got their finger out, or that the patch to fix a patch ended up turning a molehill into a mountain (the latter 2 issues are quite hilarious in an ironic sort of way).
Nope, what bugs me is the fact that CCP have consistently failed over 4 years and numerous problematic patches to show any (or only minor) remorse for the inconvenience caused. What appears to happen when an issue arises is everyone at CCP ducking behind the parapet, and when a representative does eventually post a response little if any regret or remorse on their part is perceived. I refer to the present situation as a case in point, although there have been many others panning out the same way. A simple "We're sorry folks - we messed up, and apologise for any inconvenience caused" (preferably as soon as the problem is identified) would go a long way to placating a potentially irate customer base.
I respectfully suggest that someone at CCP train Customer Relations, Communication, Fast Talk, and (Forum) Diplomacy to level 5 - his/her primary responsibility being to man the parapets wearing an asbestos suit (especially on patch days about 30 seconds after the server was originally scheduled to go live ).
You would be astounded at how far a little humility on your part would keep the vast majority of the population on your side when things go t1ts up.
