The bug report I submitted says "Attached to a defect". Can this please be explained? If it is a defect, is it slated for correction? Are there any workarounds to help those of us out who are suffering with this issue? CCP, we are paying customers. Please just acknowledge the issue and give us some hope of it being fixed. For the love of God! Please fix this FPS issue. I haven't played in 2 weeks because everytime I undock I get 8fps and combat is worse, it's a slideshow that doesn't start for 20 seconds anyway. CCP please post an official something or other saying what is going on. Give us some freakin reassurance that you are researching the issue.

Has been fine for almost 2 years until the latest patch which now gives random crashes and freezes up often near stargates.

I find Sma Zakalw's post interesting (about support for new client enhancements later this year being added into this patch) ... that's something I hadn't considered until now. Planetary interaction could wreak havoc for volumetric rendering code and drop fps pretty bad, especially if not implemented right. Not sure if there is any basis to this particular problem, but now I'm a bit curious to see what will happen when the code rollouts for all the ambulation, etc, stuff takes place. Most of the things I do in game are sitting in station... but man does it suck to venture out in space with 4 fps lol [meanwhile, still waiting patiently for fix...] |

well my patience is gone. as a pvper losing ships at 5 fps is worse than losing them at 30.
so ccp i filed another petition for a ship reimbursment. when that get refused....cya.

I was having this problem with one of my laptops. Upgraded to latest drivers and everything works fine...usually.
I believe the last time I updated drivers was somewhere after Dragon Code, or maybe it was shortly after Revelations 1. Either way, it's been a long time and I can't really remember.. That driver update was because one of those 2 patches caused the jump lines on my starmap to disappear! I can get them to reappear by moving so far out as to make seeing them pointless, while putting the map in 3d mode, tilting it upside down, and staying near the center of the map. ...I'm serious, I actually have to do that...
At any rate, the map is no longer showing jump lines again since driver update I did following Boost Patch!
I also said everything works fine, usually... Well, sometimes when I'm in space and looking around at objects and things, the framerate will just crap out for no reason until I jump or dock. It usually seems that maybe I'm moving the camera around too quickly or perhaps there are more objects in the direction of the sun than the machine likes or something... I'm not really sure, it just seems entirely random.
One thing I am really happy about, though, is the fact that I can now change systems, have new ships appear on grid, launch drones, lock targets, or check someone's details without the machine freaking out and locking up for 20-40 seconds at a time while it reams my drive as it has since Trinity.

Hmm well I got finnished installing my new system and graphics card yesterday and gave EvE (classic client) a spin to see what sort of improvement id get, well 90-120fps compared to my old post 'boost' patch 5-15fps was quite a smile maker. However I did notice my card was basicly expelling air that could melt faces from the back vent. Looking at Rivatuners hardware monitor, there was a odd trend...
While docked inside a station my GPU usage was 100% (with temperatures to match that 70+ degrees), undocked and flying around the GPU usage was more in the 50-70% range and the temps where a hell of a lot lower (45-50 degrees).
Why does being docked basicly uber use your graphics card and basicly attempt to fry the thing and being outside not?... on classic client to boot.
My Vid cards a Sapphire HD3870 and ive set the fan speed to a constant 50% with rivatuner since that cards known to have a borked fan control bios that keeps it set at 25%. - The Boot.ini Incident glances off your EvE Install causing no real damage! - |

I guess writing a letter and posting it might result in an actual anwer from CCP faster than waiting for them to respond on their own game-forum. I'm really wondering why CCP haven't learned how much solid communication is worth to their customer base.
(and yes, only 10 fps here as well for the last few weeks. just unplayable.)

Very good - I have a machine on which Eve is unplayable now. Also there is this issue with having 2 clients running on the same machine - Impossible since last patch because they both crash after a while... :( CCP Please give us casual players a Skill-Queue !

However, it's still a tawdry response and encapsulates how CCP have handled themselves appalingly during the course of this thread. I actually get the impression that they have something of a disdain towards their player base.

Edited by: Dapper Danny on 30/03/2008 05:59:33 Edited by: Dapper Danny on 30/03/2008 05:58:01 Its interesting but after noticing a 100% gpu usage and temp increases while just sitting docked in a station ive looked at other parts of EvE and heres an odd one to be sure...
When sitting on the login screen which isnt much more than a few 2d images or so with a simple 3d scene, my gpu in less than half a second (according to rivatuner) goes being 35 degrees on the desktop to almost 60 degrees on the login screen... in less than half a second!. Also the GPU usage meter reads 88-90% GPU being used... for a login screen?.
My question is, Why is it using so much?... while this isnt a great comparison example, ive been playing Unreal 2 the last few days which is a realy old game these days but I never played it on any real good settings when I bought it since my old vid card was ancient and so I thought id give it a spin with my new vid card I got a week ago. Now even in the biggest fire fight, with all settings at maximum (along with 8x aa) the GPU usage never broke past the upper 70% mark, and the temp never real broke past 45 degrees. This is with my GPU fan set at 50% speed.
Why is my HD3870 vid card basicly breaking its butt rendering a simple login screen?. Anyone else got similar results?... something has to be seriously wrong with that. Good that they've acknowledged it and are fixing it. - The Boot.ini Incident glances off your EvE Install causing no real damage! - |

Hi all: I don't know if this will help anyone else, but it *seemed* to work for me. I was doing a full reinstall of XP, and was having major FPS issues with Eve after the patch...but when I installed the .Net update, it seemed to solve it.
Link to MS download page (22.4mb): Linky
As I say, I don't know whether this will work for anyone else: I certainly hope so, 'cos it annoyed the sh1t outta me. :)

Very interesting workaround for described feature. 1) Start DXDIAG utility 2) Run Test Direct 3D (only one enough)
After that texture reloaded and game unfreezes.

i play 2 clients always, and i noticed on my pentium dual core than before each client used 50% of cpu...well 49% now they dont use 50% of cpu each, they share 50% of cpu both, i mean if one is 19% the other is 31%, they never go beyond 50% use both added, also got a severe preformance hit, im not playing anymore

Run eve on a single core and not both. Split them up between the two different cores. Should be the fix you need.
