All this class action lawsuit *******s is ridiculous. READ the EULA before you start spouting your reactionary internet anomininity induced rubbish.
I've posted on these foums time and time again that if you can show me a MMORPG that even comes close to what Eve in its entirety is then I may consider being dismayed. Managing a couple of thousand elves in a linear environment with the same 100 items being use by 90% of said elves with little or no variation is not the same as running a non-linear "sandbox" virtual world with up to 40,000 players at one time.
Get your facts straight, stop talking out of your backside and don't waste precious seconds of my life with your captain capslock cruise control idiot monkey rants.
why dont you just suck their ****

Originally by: Sporolichimisu Reformatting my hard drive and reinstalling Eve didn't make one bit of a difference. I noticed that in the Oueletta system, my fps went back to 42-50 fps for some strange reason (just like pre-patch in EVERY system). Jump one system over to Jufvitte, it's back to under 10 fps. Makes no sense whatsoever.
How many planets and moons in each?
I see Oueletta has barely any but Jufvitte is really packed.
I have the exact same issue in Brundakur and Alf as extreme examples. I wrote a forum post about it but I can't find the thing anymore.
The more planets and moons in a system, the slower the game gets, that's my experience, and it's *directly proportional to the number of planets and moons*. It's just a shame systems with low numbers of planets and moons are so uncommon in the game...

Edited by: Durao on 21/03/2008 15:12:22 I submitted a second bug report with logs and dxdiag files. This time I flew from Penirgman in Amarr space (decent fps) to Ashab (really poor fps). Penirgman had 142 in local compared with Ashab's 101. The two systems are adjacent to each other.
Why is the one with less people also less fps than the other? I don't know. Also, even in decent fps systems, it is still lower than prior to the boost patch. I can't really report that with the bug report and logs, though. I just know based on my ability to play the game before and after the patch.
I hope we can get this solved. I love my Eve.
The logs are very important. If you submit a bug report about this, please do it with a log file attached. |

I'm noticing the same thing, now that you mention it. Maybe CCP will notice this and investigate the matter further.

Yep, the more moons in a system, the more drastic of a fps drop. Systems with 2-3 moons, no fps issues.

For those of you using laptops with the NVidia GeForce Go 5200 graphics card 64mb, I stumbled onto a solution that boosted me from .5 fps to 9fps. I went to the NVidia website to download the latest drivers. They have a bundle that is as current as of 2007. Unfortunately, after downloading and installing, it says it cannot find the necessary hardware. What I did was I went through the device manager, selected my graphics card, and went to "Update Driver" Then I selected "install from a list...", I clicked on "don't search", then to "have disk" then specified the drive (c:/nvidia/win2k/169.21/english) hit "ok" then selected my model from the list that appears. Then followed the prompts and rebooted my system. The change for me was incredible. The graphics are beautiful in station (50fps) and manageable in space (7-14 fps) There is an NVidia manager that lets you real techies tweak your system. Me, I just let my mouse hover over the various options and selected performance over quality everytime. I hope this helps everyone. For CCP, just wire me a reasonable reward for helping you keep your paying customers.

The number of moons in system seems to be true for me as well. Will try the driver thing posted above (I run a 5200FX), and will post results later.

Updating the driver didn't improve fps for me.
But you are right with the moons, imho. It really seems to be the indicator for laggy systems or perfectly running ones. In a system with like 3 moons I practically have no lag at all.

This really varies between systems, some systems such as Irjunen I get full FPS, jump out and then back to 10FPS.

Just to add my 2 cents to this thread.
Bought a laptop yesterday, was expecting to be at least play eve on the lowest settings. It has an integrated card, Intel Duo 2 @1.66Ghz. 2Gb of Ram.
So fair enough it has an integrated card, but I am able to run half life 2 @ 20-50fps depending on what is going on, which is fairly decent.
In Eve I get around 10-15fps, with the classic client, lowest settings. Its just not playable like this. I have another rig at home, can play the game fine, but there I have a dedicated graphics card. Forget the name but its a new Radeon card.... Game runs fine. Ram is only 1024mb though, with a AMD 2800+.
I removed Vista and installed XP, game runs as stated above. With vista it was running at around 5fps...... nightmare. Someone mentioned way back on page 1 or 2 that maybe people with powerful rigs have had a drop in performance, but just don't notice it as their rigs can still cope. With a lower spec machine though, it really hits the performance.

I have posted in the Windows section about this, but thought I'd post here too to make it clear to CCP and anyone that reads this forum that there IS a problem. Before the patch I was able to run two premium clients simultaneously in windowed mode. Now, I can run one classic client fine, but the second I try and undock with the second, the FPS plummets to 1-2 FPS and the space turns white. Now I accept that there will be bugs with patches, but the thing that really bothers me is the complete silence from CCP. Sure, I'll file a bug report, but it would be nice to hear from ANYONE that you know that there's a problem and that you're working as hard as you can to fix it. That's all. Because right now all I've heard is silence and it's making me wonder if those of us that are having this problem are just too small a number for you to care about. I don't want to think that, but you're not giving me many options right now. I had my accounts set to go on year-long pay periods, but with this experience I'm switching them back to monthly as there's no point in paying for a broken game if I'm not 100% positive that anyone gives a damn about fixing it. That is all.

I am having this same issue, but only on the Mac client. My mac used to get 70fps, but now I get 15-20fps. Same hardware, no other changes. I very rarely OS X, as I'm a Windows person. The Windows client however runs perfectly (over 100 fps) both before and after the patch.

I have something like this
My FPS will decide to randomly drop to 10 or so, and nothing changes it. After a while, it comes back up to 40.
I believe this is related to loading the 3d stuff. I remember when the engine was first released, it loaded things very slowly. It seems to have gotten faster, except that it gets stuck on one unimportant thing. The low FPS behavior is similar to that of loading.
Some object doesn't want to load properly, and the engine freezes up until it can load it, which in some cases it can't. -----sig-starts-here------

I think most people get on the test server to "test" new ship setups and to PvP.
Oh yeah, FIX THE FPS.

I *finally* received a reply (other than the auto-reply emails) from a GM at CCP about the FPS drop issue. But all it said was "This is a known problem that the developers are aware of.".... No mention of any estimate on fixing it, of if they even are currently working on it tho.

I have just gone on test server and can confirm, in fact, that my fps is great on test server (totally playable), and tranquility remains unplayable. Whatever's going on in the test server needs to be transferred to tranquility. I suggest others try and see if it is better for them on test as well.

One thing i am curious about with most folks having problems is knowing the your cpu models, your ram setups, and the hdd's size and speeds ( besides de graphics card ) :P
Apart from having the alt-tab issue i have had no problems loading the client. _____________________________________ I pay beer for new sig.

CCP. Please give us an update on the FPS issue. You are not winning any awards for customer service here. it may be true the devs are too busy to reply, but you have a customer service department the exists for this very thing. Are they all AFK? The frustration of your customer base is growing daily.
