how quickly the masses complain without seeking first a resolution.
PeterVonThal is quite right, thank you for pointing this out.
To elaborate, No Moons are not 'broken' from your overview or scanner, but 'fixed'
Let me explain. Your overview settings and tabs are now directly tied to your directional scanner as they were previously meant to be. By applying Tab presets and selecting the appropriate tab, you can very easily find any and all moons. Also, changing to a tab that has moons shown will re-establish them on your screen about you.
If you want the easiest solution, disable 'use active overview settings'.
Please attempt to solve the problem or ask for help before flaming CCP for making the game.
Attatched please find an image I uploaded just so that you could see that they are indeed functional. http://www.imagehosting.com/show.php/1626794_moons.jpg.html --

Edited by: Siigari Kitawa on 13/03/2008 06:56:17 Okay I just logged in to test this.
Alt-Z does not work.
Additionally, I was not able to set the shortcut to only "alt" as it forced me to select a key.
CCP, simply BS is coming out of your patches that is nerfing PVP completely.
I'm gonna have to start calling this WOW-Online.

Shut up. It was an unnecessary change. Read the word "unnecessary" a few times and let it sink in.
ONE key, ALL celestials, HAPPY pvpers.
Not mouse clicking. Not moving your mouse. Not having to touch your mouse.
PRESSING A KEY.

Originally by: Peter VonThal Moon icons work for me. I think you are experiencing the new Overview Bracket feature that filters the icons you see in space. When you create overview settings and tabs now, you can also filter which icons show up in space to have a cleaner view.
If you make a new tab, right click it, change bracket settings > show all brackets, you should get moons and all the other icons in space. You can refine it further by making and loading custom bracket filters.
I'm sorry, your post shows actual understanding of the update and its new features instead of just whining about things changing and not being able to adapt. This is not allowed. Please remove the offensive post and commence whining instead.

Alt+z is working for me, although it does show all celestial objects (including stacks) and not just moons... don't know how it worked before tbh. ______________________________

If it isnt broken, dont fix it.
Fine, i see that CCP wanted the bracket system, it does have some positive sides. But for the love of god, dont change default settings. It makes baby jesus cry.
Also, the box on the center of the ship, which is used for system scanning, is still missing as far as im aware. Thats the biggest blow to PVP'ers, not the fact moons arent default.

One button, all celestials, happy eve pvpers.
Set your overview up properly, click one tab, see all celestials and don't have to hold down ALT anymore. Once people adapt, they will be happy. This way makes more sense and is more elegant, IMO.

Have you ever been in a system with a fully set up POS at every moon and scanned like that, or busy highsec system?
The point is that you have to go through and make different settings that probably won't 'stick' just like overview settings get lost occasionally... so instead of one key to rule them all, you get four different crappy overview settings just to scan for someone in a system ------------

Please don't be rude to someone for trying to help. Conversely, if you feel the need to be rude at someone due to CCP enabling the overview and scanner to be correctly tied together as a single unit, please keep it to yourself.
As for your 'one key' then yes, you can only use the default tab and never use any of the advanced features, and your 'one key' method will remain functional. --

Listen, I don't want to have to move my mouse around when I have 10 seconds to find a target before he warps away.
PVP is not leisurely in EVE. It is fast-paced and you gotta think boom-boom-boom. If I have to move my mouse to click something instead of letting me just hold down a key and move my mouse freely that takes away precious moments that I am going to need to find a target.
I think you'll find the itty bitty overview tab buttons are a lot harder to hit in a hurry than your alt key is.

This is my only problem with it.
It's like trying to right click and select something to warp to when you need to GTFO instead of just clicking something in space and hitting "warp to" on the selected item display. (Saving pods in lowsec anyone ) ------------

I don't think you get it though, and I'm not being rude. You are pandering to CCP when everybody was perfectly happy with the way things were and it really burns my biscuits.
CCP glosses stuff over then breaks other important features. It's a serious and chronic problem that most people recognize. Just letting it slide is exactly what we as the EVE players should NOT do because when we do that, we are saying that we are okay with the gradual decline of certain features we hold in high regard or even take for granted. I never had to think about it. I just did it.
Changing things which take away tactile response (pressing alt is a lot easier than moving your mouse to a 2cm button on your screen) makes the game more difficult to play. And while some people may not admit it, it is true. I have always had grief towards CCP for changing things that weren't broken and this is one of those things that everybody ALWAYS does and they removed it.
They're breaking the game by removing features that we use day in and day out. That is my problem. No offense.

So your complaint is not that the alt key doesn't work, it's that your 'boom boom boom' requires set-up to work properly. hmm. you might want to make a topic about that rather then flame people trying to help on this one.
I would advise it go in the roleplaying section, under 'pvp sound effects'. --

Read the title of the thread. This is a thread complaining about the removal of it, not the so-called fix they implemented.
Also, about the "elegance," I don't want elegance I want functionality. Elegance is second to function in my opinion.
Furthermore, alt-z does not perform the same function as the original alt-only key provided. So they have broken a feature of the game that many use on like a 10 minute basis.

I'll definitely agree with you there. This game's UI is a real hassle to manipulate and needs more hotkeys badly. ______________________________

I was really hoping that someone would have posted a solution by the time I woke up. Unfortunately, a large part of the threads seems to be between PVPers who understand the problem and non-PVPers who do not.
Maybe IÆm just completely clueless and inept, but as it stands now, I do not know of any way to have a moonÆs icon appear in the 3D world. It doesnÆt matter whether I have all brackets showing and if moons are visible on my overview. They do not show up in 3D space which is a major frustration for PVP and scanning down moons at POSs.
If someone knows how to make the small sprite for every moon show up in 3D space the way it used to, IÆd really appreciate hearing how to do this. Saying ôjust configure the overviewö doesnÆt help and from what IÆve seen, doesnÆt work at all.
