One simple, plain reason why eve has failed as an MMO: a single lag spike means the loss of weeks and weeks of work and effort.
I can not play this game anymore, I worked for so long to be able to sit in a nighthawk, then to buy one, then all the skills for the fittings needed training then to buy them, then to disconnect on the first mission i ever did on it and come back in a pod, CCP refusing to refund because their incompetent technicians failed to find a fault on their end.
So playing way more than I enjoyed, I managed to buy a second one. I disconnected during 'intercept the saboteurs' (blood raiders) on the second gate after warping in, and came back, again, in a pod. Both nighthawks combined with full t2 fittings and cap control circuits cost me over 500million isk - both combined made me 200mil with a lot of effort.
CCP once again refuses to give my ship back.
When I lose at a game, I accept it. When someone else loses at a game and I pay for their incompetence, I stop playing.
Thanks for nothing (save for your incompetence).

EDIT: LOL at the nighthawks, 200 million can afford you 2 ravens that will be able to do the missions much faster. ---------------------------------

The problem is probably at your end, not CCP's. Call up your ISP and demand your ship back.
Besides, 500mil is a drop in the pool. Some players spend that every hour.

Ive lost Billions of ISK and not complained on forums etc!!!
Try switching off Bittorrent or limewire or X-Tube if you use it lol!!! That should reduce lag 10 fold!!! Also try reducing your client graphics to a lower set!! ----- "Kneel before your god" --Apophis -Stargate SG-1 |

With that many DCs, it's probably on your end.
At any rate: how come you just didn't passive tank everything? It's not a *active* Nighthawk, is it? Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

ROFL i think we all know most of the time its the fit inside the station that wins the battle!!! If i remember rightly CCP Wrangler said that himself!!!
So it could be the fitting too!! Try using a Raven or something!! FTW!!! ----- "Kneel before your god" --Apophis -Stargate SG-1 |

actually i lost a battleship a few weeks ago in a mission due to lag spike
i filed a petition and got it back within a day, apparently logs were showing that indeed there was some server-side lag involved in me getting killed
if there is a lag spike due to something going on on your side, with your client, computer, internet, of course CCP's logs won't show anything
in future when a bad instance like this happens to you, be a smart person and try not to repeat the exact same actions that led to you dying

Oh noes you lost a ship. As others have said the rule in EVE is don't fly what you cannot afford to lose. If you still can't see why this aspect of the game actually makes EVE great rather than a failure then it's not the game for you.
I'd ask for your stuff but you've already lost it.

You spend a silly amount of isk on a NH and lose it to disconnect, don't get it reimbursed so you go and buy another and lose it to disconnect.
Seems you didn't learn anything the 1st time.
Blame your internet connection/own stupidity not CCP.
Good Bye.

Disconnects could be very annoying, especially if your in PvP or scrammed in mission. If you fly expensive ship, like Nighthawk, be sure to have permaboost tank fitted. And if system is laggy, activate your hardeners and boosters/reppers BEFORE warpin at mission spot.

I regularly disconnect doing lvl 4 missions in my TII fitted Dominix and I have yet to lose it. If your ship is getting popped in the time it takes to log on again then it's not CCP that is at fault, it's you, or your ship, or your skills or your fitting.

The only thing I can add to the OP's post is that he should have spent time thinking about where he was missioning. Regardless of how good his connection is, he will encounter lag if he's flying missions during peak time in Motsu. |

You went through all that work to get a nighthawk and didn't fit a t2 passive tank? Come on, the nh has the best survival rate of any ship in terms of lagdeath that way. ---- Infiniband can do more than just prevent lag |

It's been stated before and here we go again.
Most disconnects are, afaik, NOT CCPs fault. I've experienced varying results on different ISPs and connections (some 6+ different ones). At home I can leave the client running from DT to DT without a single disconnect. Other ISPs and connectiontypes (like cellphones) disconnects frequently (once every hour or so) even though the connection appears to be stable for other applications (like IE). It's usually (when analyzed with f.e. wireshark) a latency spike that has nothing to do with the TQ servers but instead something that's happening within the ISP network.
There's only one sig that matters... and that's Radius. |

If you can find yourself this annoyed about losing 500m in game, even to a disconnect, then Eve really isn't the game for you.
I mean hell, it's not uncommon for a single pilot to lose billions in one engagement.
My advice if you're so easily enraged by loss is to go play something a little less harsh on your mind.

It is why they made Marauders, a massive chunk of your investment is covered by insurance and you need nothing better than T2 mods to do any mission.

How about you play World Of Warcraft!!! You can die and still lose nothing of your equipment!!! So basically you can continue working up the rich list!!
However in eve, if you focus all your assets in 1 area then you are closer to being the bum of the galaxy!! That said.... i own more than 50 ships myself... 4 capital ships, few bs, and a good few smaller ships and a hell load of modules etc so im good!!! I recently moved my assets to 0.0 and had to withdrawwhith my alliance resulting in me losting about 20% of my stock.... who cares!! ----- "Kneel before your god" --Apophis -Stargate SG-1 |

Lol i probably would.... if i did i would still need to see his exact skill sheet so that i know its worth it! I often give ships away to people and skillbooks too!! I remember 2 -3 months ago when i gave Capital Industrial Skillbook away and threw a fully fitted Rorqual w/bps at the pilot i gave the book to!!!
Admittedly he used the book but he also used the Rorqual for a while and he gave the Rorqual back to me with the fits etc
I could have easily spent the 450 mill for the skillbook on some kind of capital beams or just insured another ship lol! ----- "Kneel before your god" --Apophis -Stargate SG-1 |
