Saw this in the patchnotes:
Quote: Several improvements have been made to logging, both server and client side in order to provide a safer playing experience and a better development environment. 3rd party tools that utilize the client logs will no longer provide useful out-of-game intel. This change will not affect 3rd party programs who use the EVE API (EVEMon, EFT etc)
Will this affect bacon?
If so.. Yeay!! \o/

Bacon being brought into the light forced ccp into taking action against it. YSSj for 'exploiters' that built their own 'bacons' and kept it secret except to corp/alliances. I salute the BACON project as a success.

People can use the program to give them audio signal whenever a hostile enters local. Some macroers also use it to trigger "warp to SS cloak" thingy.

Edited by: NightmareX on 06/06/2008 23:43:36 Oh, it was about time to get it fixed .
Now, the next thing you CCP need to fix, IS THE DAMN FORUM. Oh had to press the Edit button 4-5 times to be able to edit the damn reply.
Oh btw, Lord Evangelian, i'll guess you haven't seen my 10 pages long topic about the BACON thing?. The topic was locked some weeks ago though. But you could see why things like BACON is BAD, BAAAAAAAAD for the game there.

This is the most competent thing I've seen a RK member write.
BoB, Goons & whatnot had been using stuff like this for ages, BACON was the reason all of them are now nerfed. Can only be thankful of the creators for that. ___________________

They should have thrown in a week of ban hammer to users of BACON imo. Make is so the next time a program is made, people will be not so eager to use it without consequences.

I dunno I'm no programmer, I figure there is a sneaky way to do pretty much anything if you really want to though.

Well I don't see CCP telling anyone that they aren't allowed to use it. So it still is an 'approved' program.
And lets be honest here, I don't see any way for CCP to prevent people running whatever programs they want on their own computers. Any method they try to use to detect a program will just be bypassed, along with risks of it throwing false positives. Much easier to just allow the program while you work out ways to disable it.
