Just a curiosity , but why can every other race change a significant portion of their damage output to something other than their racial damage and Amarr cannot?

Also, khanid ships use missiles - plenty of damage selection.
Furthermore, some of the caldari ships are also limited to kinetic damage in order to do their full bonused dps.

Because CCP reduced everyone resists to their damage and if they changed the damage type now they would have to reduce another damage type and possibly boost some other rave by mistake?
If you want a good mystery try this one Why is the Helios the only cov ops with only 2 high slots?

Errr ... you do of course realize that typically most Gallente ships have about twice the drones space as Amarr ships. And please don't hand me the drones don't count BS. Hands down the Domi is the most popular Gallente battleships. I can't even imagine what would have happened had the marauder class Gallente battleship had been a Domi.

As to the ... reduction ... I'll just say this. 50% of all EM damage is resisted outright. Granted that used to be 60% with Min having 70% ... it's still an awful lot of resist. Don't get me wrong ... I'm glad it was changed, though I still think Amarr needs more changes. |

When I see amarr ships in pvp videos they are normally the ones handing peoples arses to them.

This is seriously one of the best things about flying Amarr.
That, and the fact that you get pulse lasers with Scorch.

(Not quite, but it's almost like that.)
Also EM is actually a pretty good damage type now, especially on tanked and t2 ships.
And Heavy Pulse Laser II or Focused Medium Pulse Laser II + Scorch M = Hello nanoship, how's that 0% em resist shield buffer working out for you oh hey nevermind you've already been melted out of the sky.
TO answer your original question: This is not a feature that Amarr needs.
Of course you can also just go with the Khanid ships and do it anyway. Helloooooooo Sacrilege. __________________________________

Pffft, didn't want that face anyway - useless overrated things.
Lasers pretty much ignore shields - I mean I know they are there but I so rarely get to see that third bar on the HUD. The armour EM resistance tweak/nerf/boost has made pure laser boats (read: with gun bonus') absolute beasts in combat.

i love all of my amarr ships:
nano ships run like girls when i load scorch to my FMP :D
most proper armor tanked ships have EM lowest :D
most t2 ships have amarr lowest tanked damage type.

Very old complaint that is easily answered, particularly after the EM base resist nerf. Hell, even before the sacrilege became an extremely good hac (khanid switch.)
Look at their drone bays. 
Amarr are sweet - and always have been. That said, please buff the pilgrim :(

I'll never ever whine for anything about Amarr >.< if anything we need a solid Roleplay Religion that will unite us on a common goal to rebuild and expand our lost glory of the Empire and crush pitiful humans that don't have the right to exist. amarr ships are proberly tanked can last along time. there firepower is endless if proberly balanced. the drone bay even if its small can still hold a full wing of drones abbadon can hold 5 light and 5 medium without trouble _____________________________________________ yawnnnnn |

i fly amarr also and i must say there very awsome in the right hands ...the only problem with amarr and why people say they suck bla bla bla and more bla bla is cuz they requier a lot of training to get them into a point where u kick ass ..when gallente are easy to fly you just train sum blasters a mega and voilla ...oh yeah and the drones u already have since gallente is based on drones ^^ and as for that armor buff ...ccp didnt only boosted amarr ..by switching basic armor resist to 50 ..they boosted minmatar also ..they switched the explosive shield resist to 50 for there t2 ammo to be more efective ..and 1 last thing to say ..amarr kicks ass no doubt

Why not? Every other race has their disadvantages, that is the Amarr disadvantage. What other disadvantage would you like Amarr had instead?

What Lasers use Cap? 
After the EM Nerf EM has stoped sucking against most of the EANM/Plate T1 Ships if you are not in a BS. In PVE it is still not that bad, once you have good Skills you slap on more Heat Sinks and forget about it.

you are an idiot, try having 0% explosive resist.. that's what gallenteans have, amarr has the best armor tanks in game with virtually no weaknesses.

The bottom line is that lenses have such high base damage out of the box that amarr ships almost have a "hidden" extra damage bonus (or first bonus for the ships that lack one at all ). Yes, armor EM resist sucks, but we also have the highest damage weapons in the game.
Another thing to consider. People put kinetic hardeners on their ships. And thermic, sometimes, and explosive. I don't know I've ever met someone that goes out to PVP specifically tanked out for EM. Once you account for the "rainbow" modules like EAMNs alongside the speced hardeners, EM is quite often (one of the) lowest resist on the ship. My favourite Hurricane gig (and others, too, apparently, because it's quite close to a number of celebrated Battle Clinic gigs) has lower EM resist than Kinetic, and terrible thermic resist. In which case, an Amarr ship will cut through me like butter.

I didn't say that faction and T2 crystals didn't break. Hey, guess what, barrage and RF EMP are expensive (and bulky), but you don't see me *****ing about it!
