agreed...
Very depressing.. if a Q3 release is true, then that means another 3-4 month wait AT MINIMUM...
CCP would do its self a great PR favour by simply indicating to the subscribers some idea of when it is coming..
and by the way CCP (honestly) soon tm isnt funny anymore.... -= Ninja, Ninja, Cloaky, Cloaky =- 'Sadly the days of the suicide kestrel are gone' |

This will really put a knot in your socks....
What if CCP is running on a FISCAL YEAR that's actually MONTHS behind the calendar year. They could still be in their Q1 of 2004 if they just started a new fiscal year at the beginning of april... MUAH!

Bloody hell, I didnt know that much new stuff was coming!
Considering the list of stuff in there, I think Q3 would be a good estimate, but I havent been on test or chaos at all lately so wuddahell do I know?

Didn't P.Smurfy mention that the 'internal deadline' for Shiva was May 25th? Not that it couldn't be delayed for a major bug, of course. ---------- [ 2004.05.06 05:12:04 ] (combat) Your 250mm Railgun I perfectly strikes Guristas Invader, wrecking for 155.7 damage. |

Edited by: Carmen Priano on 14/05/2004 19:07:33 Q3 just means in the third quarter, not necessarily at the end of said quarter. Given that May is month 5 and the second quarter ends at the end of June, month 6, this means we could see the release anywhere from July 1st to September 30th. Of course, this is if CCP confirms the Q3 release date -- they could very well say that they gave a very conservative estimate to the news company but hope to have an initial release in early June, for instance. ;)
So! Anyone from CCP care t'confirm the feature list and give a confirmation of some general time we can hope for this all? ;)

I'm just curious, but why is this being called E3 info?
I just checked the E3 exhibitor map and then double checked the one online and CCP isn't listed anywhere. Anyone know which hall they're in? Kentia? Concourse? South? West?

Well as was said Q3 could be as soon as July, not as soon as I'd have hoped for but if thats what we're gonna get with Shiva then it looks like it's gonna be well worth the wait. Anyway if CCP are smart, they'll purposely be conservative with the release date anyway, we might even see Shiva appear in June.

I hate when they call it expansion pack. EVE doesn't have those, that's one of the reasons why EVE kicks the ass of all the other major MMORPG's.

Ciao, Aronis!
PS: GREAT stuff in the article! Since I'll anyway stay with EVE till they turn the AC in the server room off, just take your time and make sure everything works decently when it gets introduced.

Hope you're ready to wait a bit longer than that. There's a list just as long of content that was supposed to be in Castor that we still haven't seen.
short example:
Tech2 weapons Mobile Refineries Player-based Cloaking(not JIP) salvage/repair/rogue drones
There's tons more stuff if you go back and read the CSMs and Dev chats leading up to Castor's release. Stuff we've never seen since Castor. Alot of it changed to be in Shiva. Makes a person wonder how much of the Shiva-promised stuff will make it's way to Kali's list.
In other words, don't base your hopes on what CCP is listing as Shiva's content.

It should be 'insta' content though, I doubt that the planetary rings, comets, system wide asteroid belts and the like, will be released through research agents ___

The expansion sounds great, like the stuff other games usually make you pay extra money for. But I am worried about how all the space environment stuff -- comets, meteor showers, etc. -- are going to affect framerates. As it is now, my fps takes a nosedive whenever one of those puffy dust clouds comes into view, and I have a high-end system.

Yeah, those and the other celestial bodies seem really cool. I hope those ice fields, debris fields and such will affect your ship, maybe damage it a little bit... or perhaps some gas clouds or nebulas that disable sensors leading into, out of, or within the nebula and make it hard to lock.
The main thing that I'm excited about are the scenarios and 'dungeon' type things, and also the new NPCs. There is something they say about 'empire operations', that sounds interesting, too. Might be actual empire fleets roaming around. I hope they improve NPC intelligence, concord in particular...
