A couple of problems have come up with your company that have me... annoyed.
First, allow me to say that I came from the world of WoW, so my expectations weren't too high to start with when I decided to try EVE. However, I am a business owner of 35 years, so I get to claim some knowledge on the subject of customer satisfaction, retention, and trust.
Let's talk about this update. Before we start on the realm of possibilities for tier-1 support, I have read each and every message in this thread (what else did I have to do, given that I can't get into EVE?!) For the record, the TWO machines I've attempted patch deployment on are exactly the same, and each is running Win 7, 64-bit, on a 12-core Xeon platform, 32 GB, 15k RAID array. The machines run flawlessly (well, except for that part where I'm running Windows, of course). At least I can switch over to the Mac side of life and the world is much better. I've rebooted, purged cache, ensure there are no EVE-related operations running after reboot, and updated the EVE Online Repair Tool. An hour later, I'm still sitting exactly HERE:
(3/7) Downloading recipes: Initializing .
Of course, wouldn't you know it, I just threw $200 US to y'all for PLEX this afternoon, in anticipation of the new release. Oh, that reminds me - that's the OTHER ITEM ON MY LIST.
So, I make an on-line purchase through eveonline for 6 PLEX, but somehow y'all thought it would be amusing to charge me TWICE for the same transaction -- at $100+ per transaction... From two different countries. My freekin' bank called to alert me of fraudulent charges on my card... Seriously, WTF?
No disrespect intended (okay, well, maybe a little) but I noted some oddities with the interface under the prior "working" release, but figured that EVE was a moderately new product and needed some time to mature. The little "bug" with double-charging my credit card I racked up to the immaturity of the project and figured I'd sort it out tomorrow. Then, working through this update crap (and crap it is), I discover that the EVE has been around since 2003.
REALLY? Nearly 10 years down the road and you're having significant problems like these? Wow. (Did I just say that? Out loud?)
Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I figure that since I've been a pretty good supporter of EVE, give that I've dropped you around $350 in the first 30 days of play, you might actually want to communicate with me -- and the rest of your clients -- with a few honest answers and prompt resolution.
In closing, there's a certain odd twist of fate to be had here. I disciplined one of my staff today with 2 weeks suspension because he still hadn't learned the lesson of sandboxing development processes, executing proper testing protocols, and ensuring a roll-back scheme in the event of catastrophic failure. Now he's going to have a great excuse: "The guys at CCP get away with it!" |

Yes pls fix the sounds.
I was going to record some stuff for youtube, but it is not great advertisement for CCP if the world sees EVE with all the sounds messed up.

Haha, this is hillarious. After literally text-screaming at them that repair.exe doesn't work and mocking them for their first line technical support nonsense I wake up today and the latest piece of advice is? Reboot, run repair.exe! lol We're being trolled guys.

REPAIR.EXE DOESN'T WORK!
Please roll the patch back or give us the files we need. I asked this last night and it's shocking to see that nearly 24 hours since the patch was rolled out there are still several thousand players unable to log in. For whatever reason there is a serious issue with Windows 7 Ultimate X64 users, one which was brought to your attention which you ignored. Did you not see the low amount of people online last night? You need to roll the patch back so you can do more testing on it. Stop dicking about asking us to reboot and get it fixed. |

I still cannot access the EvE game; the update process freezes up at (6/7), and i subsequently lose all network connection:
(6/7) Downloading patch: initializing ...
Output folder: C:\DOCUME~1\HANSWY~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\nsz4.tmp Extract: Microsoft.VC90.CRT.manifest... 100% Extract: library.zip... 100% Extract: localization.xml... 100% Extract: msvcm90.dll... 100% Extract: msvcp90.dll... 100% Extract: msvcr90.dll... 100% Extract: patch_helper.exe... 100% Extract: patch_win.exe... 100% Execute: C:\DOCUME~1\HANSWY~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\nsz4.tmp\patch_win.exe "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE" 262294
I have to reboot at this stage.
Running the repair.exe tool does NOT work either: it freezes up at (3/7), and i again lose all network connection. Rebooting is the only way out.
I run a solid dual core win XP, with a very recent NVIDIA grapics card. RAM a-plenty.
Please resolve this issue asap.

Down-loaded update yesterday and though everything was OK, a friend said he found game play a little slow but all in all I had no problems.
But everything is not OK now, every-time I load up eve, it downloads or loads-up the 7 patch files ( sorry not tecky ) now and then I get the eulu thing and all my settings have been reset.
I've not really had any big issues in the past with EVE, but in my opinion this is a big one.

The situation appears to get WORSE and WORSE
I have tried all methods of installig the update . This proved impossible
I then deinstalled all i could find Client related on my Computer ( because the fault messages told me somehow something EVE related was running on my PC ) and started the tedious timeconsuming process of re-installing a fresh Clien
Inittially this also did NOT WORK .. but some time during the night SUDDENLY .. a fresh install appeared to becom possible.. OK... so i started that
Around 10 oclock this morning it appeared that the download had succeeded
What happened
My computer crashed .. n asked me to REBOOT ( or remove a Boot disk..if such was present ... which was not the case
I then had to reboot ... spam the F8 .. choose from which Hardrive to install my operating system and at least suceeded in opening my computer
I will probably have to reconfigure my BIOS to remove WHATEVER the EVE CLIENT DOWNLOAD has made of changes on my Compute
Anyway .. I can now see .. that i have the Client in my computer :
Location : c:\programefiles\CCP\EVE ... and then a lot of different files in that directory ... amongst this a Launcher .. but NO repair too
I can also find the CLIENT in this location
c:\Users \ Appdata \ CCP\EVE\downloads ... which contains 2 files with a lot of descriptive characters ending with 1 of 2 and 2 of
BUT my CCP CLIENT still does not work
I find it almosty unbelievable that CCP thinks they can charge MONEY for such INCOMPETENCE
I have petitioned my problems ... but as usual ..any answer will take many days .. if not weeks to ariv
Having played for many years .. I seriously consider to STOP playing EVE
Not only does it take quite a lot of time i sensibly could use for other purposes and tasks ...in REAL LIFE
but the current WASTE of MY TIME and ENERGY really is making me QUESTION if i can afford to continu
to spend time on this game... REAL LIFE is SHORT
CCP is an abreviation of CROWD CONTROL PRODUCTIONS ... a name i find somwhat insulting but evt true
In old Rome the used " Bread n Plays" for 'Crowd control .. Eve online may not be much more than that
But when the CROWD in ROME became dissatisfied with " the Bread n Games " the KILLED the Emperor
... and it may be time to get back to REAL LIFE and not spend it on some kind of PHANTASY WORLD ... like EVE is . |

When the fix? Not a workaround....
Thanks.

Agreed, i did all that my self and now im getting /error application 16 bit when ever i try and eve applications or launcher applicationg, however i was trying things out and if u go to C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin and run the application called ExeFile the game will open normally at least it did for me and then i downloaded another small patch and was able to play the game, and currently im still getting error 16 bit application and other errors along with the repair saying it had errors and things like that but hopefully they will resolve these issues fast and, hopefully this will work for some other people out there.
ONCE AGAIN TRY C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin ExeFile application see if your game will open |

Even with the update mentioned here http://community.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4928&tid=1 i still get the error
i did: 1. reboot computer 2. Navigate to the EVE client install folder. 3. Run the Repair tool until it finshes 4. when the repair tool finishes (it seems like it all works fine), and after i click "close", i get an popup window with title "errors occured" and in it : "See the logfile 'c:\users\.....\appData\Local\Temp\nsf...\repair.exe.log' for details."
that file contains this: Exception in thread Thread-2: Traceback (most recent call last): File "threading.pyc", line 530, in __bootstrap_inner File "threading.pyc", line 483, in run File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 117, in DownloadPart File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 136, in _DownloadPart File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 762, in callback FileSyncError: data corruption
No handlers could be found for logger "zsync"
5. i press the ok on erro message 6. run eve.exe from same folder 7. get another window with title: "Unsupported 16-bit Application" with content: "The program or feature "\??\D:\games\CCP\EVE\launcher\launcher.exe" cannot start or run due to the incompatibility with 64-bit versions of windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit windows compatible version is available." 8. when i press ok everything closes, as in i can't start the client with this method.
I can however start the client by running d:\games\ccp\eve\bin\ExeFile.exe. And once the client is started it all apears to run just fine.
my computer specs are: os: windows 7 ultimate (Service pack1) Processor: inter core 2 duo E6750 RAM: 4Gb GPU: Nvidia geforce 8800 GTS (runinng two screens at 1680x1050) EVE client is set to play on only one screen with (1680x1050 resolution) |

Thanks for the reply, but yes i can get into the client using "the workaround" as i explained in first post. However the repair tool and the launcher are still broken. I guess/hope CCP still wants to fix this even if we can get in the game using the workaround. |

How long until you finally roll back the patch and admit defeat? Am I going to go another day without being able to play while you continually ask me to reboot and run repair.exe? |
