I'll just say it again here:
The "Mining Drone - Improved UNUSED" was never unused. These drones dropped consistently from convoys in 2003 (typically 4-8 at a time) and were erroneously renamed at some point before Revelations expansion. They are absolutely meant to exist and should never have gotten the "UNUSED" tag.

We don't have any of the information on blueprint research, so any returned blueprints will have "default" values (which I don't see as a huge problem for something that's primarily a collectors' item). Does this mean, that any restored Mimir Blueprint will suddenly have 40 new runs on them - thus introducing more ships... being the number of Mimir's in-game is limited to a set amount. /c
IMHO this is a FASCINATING mistake. Should be interesting to watch the results (how many Mimir's are made, etc) after the restoration.

Okay, If you want to know.
This deletion fiasco is genuinely upsetting to me as it undoes the 9 years of work I put into gathering the very rarest of rare items. Upsetting to the point of wondering whether I should continue investing my time in EVE. (cue "can I have your stuff" responses).
I'm firmly believe items should be left alone unless they break the balance of the game. A bunch of drones, implants and other crap that has no measurable effect on the game? Why delete it if they give people joy?
Perhaps it is not the "intended" way of playing the game, but for a game that is supposed to be a sandbox, being a collector is as valid a career as any other player's, and in the end we're all playing the game for fun.
I have items that are literally several orders of magnitude more rare and obscure than any of the stuff that was wiped, and even some (harmless!) stuff that is not meant to be in the game, and I fear for those treasures now. Regardless of how they entered the game (accidental or intentional), they are a part of the game's rich history for better and for worse. They do not harm the game in any way, and are great conversation starters.
Deleting player owned items = Deleting the game's legacy. Don't do it, CCP.

This is beyond lame. Looks like some other old stuff like rare mining drones have gone poof too!
My corp has a museum hangar in which we are trying to collect one of everything in Eve. Stuff like the mines and the BPOs for the miners were always enjoyed by the members, especially those new to Eve.
PLEASE PLEASE put these things back for us!!!

Exactly this. I can understand deleting an item called "GM TEST TOOL DOOMSDAY" or something, but if its not game-breaking, remove the ability for more to be added but do NOT delete the ones that are already in existence.
People pay billions for these items, and then you just deleted them for no real cause.
It also hurts the player's trust in their assets. It makes us feel like any of our stuff can just be disappeared at any time. I feel for people like Entity who've spent years collecting this stuff, and now his goal in the game is directly threatened by this |

They do not harm the game in any way, and are great conversation starters. Deleting player owned items = Deleting the game's legacy. Don't do it, CCP. No... I totally get that. While a nub in relative terms... I've been trying to collect every ship and drone myself. It is NOT easy. These items are very expensive and I couldn't even afford the "cash value" of my ships in RL if I wanted to. What really burns me up is that we make this huge effort to aquire these items and than CCP just jacks them. Excellence my ass. I've been hoping for them to get better and I thought they had turned a corner at crucible but it looks like Grayscale is back to being awesome. If CCP screwed up they could take responsibility for it and just let you keep the items or give you something of equal value in game... but like with that Enigma those pirates captured the other week (and I'm not saying a mining drone is anything like that), CCP just tosses them a PLEX and says go F*** yourself. It really does make you wonder if it's worth the effort if you are never allowed to achieve anything... or if the policy at CCP is to turn a blind eye willfully ignorant incompetence... well then that might be as bad or worse.

Dear CCP - I know that you want to erase past mistakes, but please realize that many people have become attached to these past mistakes. If the items are harmless, then leave them in the game. Why not work with CCP and let them know exactly what you lost and try to assist them in their quest to clear out the database, that way you might get your stuff back faster and you'll be helping rather than just posting rubbish on the forums. |

You clearly missed the point. Restoring the items is good, but doesn't help much restoring trust in that CCP isn't going to silently baleet player assets in the future. And last I checked the whole point of forums is to voice ones opinion and concerns. Of course I fully acknowledge it's CCP's game to do with as they pl..... oh wait :lolincarna:
But fair enough, one guy's legitimate grievance is another guy's whining I guess. yay, forums.

Did you not read the Greyscale's post? He said much of the deletion stems from actual cleaning up of the database. Only when several of the collectors pointed out the legitimacy of having those items kept, that he relented and decided to "re-release" those items back to the players.
Also he pointed out that some of the items will still be unavailable including the UNUSED, which still DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE considering the fact that there is a unique history attached to it and they dropped through a legitimate means.
Please read Greyscale's posting before calling us "whiners." We have reasons for our dissatisfaction. I am also furious that I've spent more than 3 Billions on those missing drones and CCP decided to remove those just for the sake of "cleaning up" the database. |

If it was a mistake I don't think anyone would eve comment beyond bringing it to CCPs attention. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm p***** off because Greyscale intentionally deleted these items because players "weren't supposed to" have them because they weren't "supposed to" be in the game... yet these items were obtained through normal game mechanics that were in game for years! Entity has been playing since 2003! If he has some weird ass drones no one else has I would say f*** yah that's cool and I'd pay a premium for them. They have value, and represent eve history. It's not about making a mistake. It's about being incompetent and not thinking about what you are doing before you do it. Some of us spend a lot of time and brain cells trying to accrue this stuff... this isn't a nerf. Essentially it's like CCP coming out and saying "oh, we changed our mind... caps were a bad idea. We're removing them from the game" and than compensating you nothing. Think some people would rage? The question then becomes... why buy anything? Why try to amass any kind of wealth or collect stuff if CCP Greyscale is just going to take it away when he gets bored from having nothing to fix in this otherwise flawless game?

Simply deleting these from the game is a crappy thing to do, and to be honest shows a limited understanding of your players and the sandbox nature of the game.
In Eve, where a player makes his own story, many people become collectors of rare items. You (CCP) just broke that.

The thing that makes those items cool is just their history within the context of eve and their rarity, which gives them value. Anyone with their head in the game would know that.
No, but Entity and others have so much ISK they could buy up every plex on the market for an extended period of time. Sure, market forces would naturally drive the prices down again, but can you imagine the hue and cry if people wake up tomorrow and Plexes are suddenly 600 or 700 M each?
