Having just discovered that I accidentally escrowed my Widowmaker BPo (cheap loss, but still a loss to recover), I'd like to petition for a a change in the icons for BPc's, to differentiate them from BPo's - possibly just change the blue background to another color, yellow red or purple perhaps, so that it's easier to both find the BPo's, and to prevent ppl (like myself) from making stupid mistakes.
Just sign below if you like the idea - we might see a dev comment if we're lucky :-)

This has been raised before countless times, and we all agree it would be really nice in our day to day activities.
But with the way things are going I believe we will see some other needless change of the icons instead, like the ship icons from last patch.

A very good idea which has come up before but not even a whisper that it might be in the works. Would definitely make managing research and sale of BPs a lot easier and less confusing.

Aye, there was a whisper in a CSM, way back yonder, that tags like the tech2 tags you see may be introduced for the purpose of seeing the difference between BPO, BPC's and 0-run BPC's

Agreed. Make it green instead of blue or sign it like the Tech II items with a symbol in the corner.
I already once sold a valuable BPO in escrow instead of the BPC because they looked the same  . |

I'll add my vote for a different icon to differentiate BPo's from BPc's.
It's hard to sort them! And I always get worried I might sell off a BPo by accident...

Have to agree.
Fortuanetly haven't made the miostake yet/had chance to but I can guarantee I will at some point! The grey idea for Zero runs would also be nice, but I wouldn't say essential...After all thats one of the benefits of being able to inspect merchandise isn't it?

This is a subject which keeps coming around. To me it seems such alot of sence that the bpo, bpc and the used bpc should all be indicated in some way. It would stop all sorts of trouble in the long term.

It's probably not going to happen.
I remember a bug petition I made (feedback/improvement kind) a long while back (way before castor patch) to change icons of BPO en BPC (for example putting a red C in top left corner or something).
Since it still has not been done (what kind of work would it be at all!), I do not expect it to come around any time soon(tm).

CCP why won't you do it, it's not like it's hard, you dont even need to make new icons, just hue/saturate them with the colorize option turned on in photoshop, a child could do it.

But other colours are fine as long as the BPOs/BPCs are recognisably different.
An icon change might be an idea, too, for those who are colour blind.

Almost lost 3 BS Bpo's due to this today.

Copies are fundamentally different, why do they have the same damn picture? They can do it with corners or colour I'm not fussed.
Add my signature to the list, my factory in Korama went mad and lost my widowmaker bpo and I spent ages checking deeply inferior copies via assets before not finding it. The vanishing BP bug needs to vanish soon.

Well, it's gratifying to see all the signatures on my thread - I do check back every day or so, hoping to see an Eve logo, or at least a purple signature to show that SOMEBODY has decided to acknowledge our request with as much as a "ya, we know ya want it, hold yer horses!"....this thread has been in the top 5 threads of the Factories forum for three solid weeks - long enough I'd think for a Dev or Polaris to see it (granted, they're probably incredibly busy trying to fix the cluster problems)

ANYTHING would be better than the current color scheme of blue across the board.
Changing colors will hopefully get rid of at least SOME of the scams in the escrow system, hopefully leading to less clutter.

Consider this **SIGNED** and hopefully this post will continue to be bumped to the top of the list. Color coding would be simple to implement and I see no reason for it not to be.

can't remember where i read it, i'll try to find it later. but the DEV's actually commented on this and from the impression i got that the DEV's either did not want to make the change, or they said the coding would be a nightmare and won't tackle it for a while...

Well it does help to keep BPO's separate from BPC's either through the use of corp hangars or some other technique but I do agree there needs to be a difference in the way the icons look. Also make the icons look different for the number of runs left, maybe put the number of runs on the icon itself so I don't gotta look at the attributes all the time to see which ones I might want to use. |

Can you tell which is the copy?
Answer - None, as they're all originals in that pic (and this pic is a week or so old, there's another 10+ in there now) .. but you've no way whatsoever to find out which is original and which is not without going into every one indivudually..

Having played the 'find the original in the pile of copies' game on several occasions, I'd have to concur make them different colors.
As far as copies with 0 runs remaining, please SHRED THEM. Don't waste time by changing their color. Scrap them. Destroy them. There is no good reason to keep them around cluttering things up and tempting scammers to do something with them. I haven't fallen prey to a scammer doing this myself, but have heard of others doing so.

Perhaps some form of change in shape or corner marking etc would be better, are colour blind people not affected by some of the suggested colours?
Anyway, what I currently do is have 3 secure containers renamed "BPO's", "BPC's" and "0-run BP's" and make sure i stock them in there. Now I know it is a pain to keep opening them to look but it is the easiest solution for me at the moment.

The intent being to make it easier to keep track of your own bpo's/bpc's in hangars, can's etc with lot's of bp's.
If it makes it harder for scammers to practice their ill deeds, so be it. But that was not the outset for the idea.

Having some sort of indicator would make things so much easier. I don't care if its a different colour or just a small overlay over one corner like the Tech II marker, just so we can distinguish between the BPOs and BPCs. Not even bothered about highlighting 0-run BPCs, I always check the details anyway when I buy.

To Dezzib0y, who mentioned scammers - try finding your BPOs after you have run off 50 copies each of several ammo BPs, and have 200+ near-identical blue BPs in your hangar with 4 BPOs amongst them...

maybe a watermark on bpc or bpo icon, but yes it should be obvious, maybe adding a select by type option on right click, select all BPC, BPO etc

The basic upshot of the conversation was "it's harder than you'd think, as BPO's and BPC's share the same internal item ID number" and "we'll address it sometime after shiva launches"
I've essentially given up on seeing a fix for it - personally I'd like to see BPO's and BPC's get different ID numbers, so that they can have different pics, which seems to be the easiest way to do it. The difficulty in that would be parsing and updating the assets of everybody on the entire server, along with modifying all the escrows that are presently active.
