Age may be more, but acting your age isn't. Community: WoW. This is simply due to A: Less elitism. B: Less cliques. EVE ingame is very channel based. I guess you can play you're saving a damsel in distress in a Gnoll cave or something, unless you consider the Horde-Alliance roleplay. Maybe I just don't get roleplay On a RP server in WoW, you RP all the time as it's enforced(slightly) that everything you talk should be in character. Only exception is guild/trade channel. You are, in effect, playing a role all the time and with plenty of tools to do so. Want to host a beer kegger? Can do. For example. In EVE, you roleplay in chat, and even then, you need a roleplaying chat. And RP events are pretty much dead, which was only a step down from a zombie state. Also yes, doing 700+ different quests without single repeat(unless you fail) adds to the roleplay as you're not saving the same damsel, from same cave, for the same guy, for the n-teenth time. I played WoW a couple of years back and I do recall that I roleplayed myself right through 1/3 the ogre population of Azeroth, 1/4 of all trolls and god knows what else on my quests. At that point I rather came to the conclusion I must have become the greatest hero in the history of anything. But then so was everyone else. The math just didn't add up and all seemed rather rediculous. Personally the only thing that stood WoW out for me was the expansion of a storyline I had enjoyed when I played Warcraft II. I personally think that comparisons of EVE and WoW are a tad unfair as they are entirely different in concept, other than being MMPORGs, might as well compare a car racing game and a flight sim. Also, when people suggest that the WOW community is better than EVE's, maybe you should actually try talking to the hordes of 12 year olds who play only so that they can be like "OMG I'M L337 WITH EP1C ITEMZZZ!!!!" and be free from any actual risk (other than a small repair bill if they die, and a walk back to their corpse).

Everyone has a different basis for their criteria for what is best and how this compares. For me the construction and marketing aspects of a game are massively weighted. This means EVE wins utterly for me. No other game comes even close. Burning Peas () failed miserably despite a valiant effort. for other folk PVP is important and they want to immerse themselves in killing others. Some folk like mining (Lord knows why, but glad they do). it seems for you RP plays a major element. I know I am not gonna sway your opinion, however there is more to RP in EVE than you might think. RP in EVE does not necessarily require running around shouting in character to all and sundry. Being part of a sand box game, most every action you take is building or tearing down the world of eve and affecting other players. The role you choose the moment you enter shapes the world around you. I am a casual RPer and the joy of EVE is that I can feel like I am contributing without trying vainly to put on some affectation to make me sound erm... this character is Khanid i think too many accounts. My point being that from the moment I log in, I feel I am RPing and the joy of that, is I haven't had to make a concerted mental effort to do so. Maybe I should rephrase to lazy RPer.

Personally i think EVE is better, but i don't think it's better as a MMORPG Sorry if I came across a bit overzealous initially (I've only just woken up), but the point I'm trying to make is that EVE is a niche game, and that's what makes it great. WOW is better in some respects, but for me it could never be fun. I don't care about killing NPCs or pretending to be a character in the game. I play games for the social interaction and the ability to actually affect other people in game, either by working towards a common goal as part of a corp, or by blowing them up. Yes you can help each other in WOW, but unless you're on a PvP server, you can't actually hinder anyone. Scamming is banned, PvP is meaningless even on a PvP server, and corporate espionage just doesn't exist. Without the risk and reward involved in interacting with people, the social aspect of the game is meaningless, and little more than a costly version of IRC chat. Anyway, I'm happy to welcome new people into EVE, just as long as they don't expect the game to change just because it isn't what they initially expected. EVE is great because of what it is, and while small change is beneficial, a significant portion of people who play WOW would require the whole essence of the game to be reworked if they were to enjoy it. The two games, while sharing the same genre, are completely different, both in their design and their main audience. And yes, I am still a bit bitter that currently the main method of getting changes made to the game is to come crying on the forums and spamming until it is changed.

The lack of free movement was a huge points killer for me in Eve. LOTRO however has everything WOW has + much more (the playable insturments and player made music system takes that cake!). Wow's latest patch included achievments, guess witch game they got that from (lotro!) lol.

I'd say the "average" player is in his/her 20's. If you want to find something which tends to divide the kid vs adult population, a bigger factor would be whether the game is free to play. Pay to play games tend to have less idiots in them, or possibly less "12 year olds".

You can't do harder quests, you can't get decent gear and once you hit the endgame, there's pretty much nothing you can do. I can, however, go months in eve without even talking to another player, if I so choose

Then again you do not need to care about how silly it looks as no1 is gonna see it in that case anyway. On a Serious note. You can Roleplay Solo in eve much easier and imo better than in a game like WoW. Some ppl play a Pirate, some ppl play a trader, some ppl play some alliance tool or whatever. This just looks to me a much more than roleplaying then hitting the same mobs again and again. "Look at me the mighty dwarf slayer muahaha!!" To the better looking environment which was mentioned in here. I just say lol. WoW absolutly has no atmosphere. It looks like a funny little cartoon. And you dont really want to compare something like the flora in eve with wow since it does not really make much sense. Unless you wanna see grass growing on roids or ships and stations. To get to the point. I voted for eve and would vote for eve everytime again.
