The Orca will give better mining bonus at lev 1 because the ship type bonus over no bonus for the command ship. Also keep in mind. they have not said how many command mods it can run at once. The command ship and the Rorqual can run three before needing a command processor. From the looks of it the Orca will only be able to run 1. So to run more command mods in the high slot you will need to use up the few mid slots on the command processors.
To me this is a sad thing. I hope they allow it to run 3 command mods, like the Rorqual and command ship before needing the command processor.

Things I've seen with the orca.
77.9km3 with T1 cargo rigs Freighters can't pull from its corp hangar 400,000m3 ship hangar allows 2 mackinaws to fit.
only 25mbit for drones, I would think this big ass thing could at least get some mediums.
Still playing with the rest.. |

Strip miners require a specific attribute on the ship (99% reduction to requirements). The stats for the Orca don't have that listed, so no go on the strip miners.
Several people on the other thread suggested Mining Director I be a pre-req instead of Mining Foreman.

It's not that bad though it could be better. It carries 120+k m3. 90k m3 in cargo and 30k m3 in corporate hangar. And it has a modest ship maintenance bay too. Would be nice if the base cargohold were expanded to 40k so you could have 120+k m3 cargohold with mods. That seems a reasonable adjustment.

It's designed for empire use, so it might not be that much of an issue, since medium drones are getting nerfed against small targets and empire belts only spawn frigate rats.
I noticed that there doesn't appear to be a limit on what type of ships it can haul in its maint bay. So we'll be able to haul non-industrial ships around empire? That would be nice.

Just remember folks, this may not be the final product that will hit TQ. I think there are going to be a few tweeks that come down the pike on this before it goes live.
So far, I think they'll play around with cargo capacity, and maybe CPU/powergrid. But it still remains to be seen. |

Cargohold midway between an indy and a freighter, for medium loads(90k expanded apparently) -- check!

Able to carry rigged ships -- check!
Able to fit ships in space -- check!

Agreed, this would be very awesome and open up a lot of interesting possibilities, especially for solo or small corp play.

Same here. I put 2 assembled Hulks in the Maintenance bay and 8 packaged hulks in the corp hangar. 5 T2 Hammer IIs in the Drone bay.
Hi - Laser Optimization and 2 Small Tractors Mid - 4x Large Shield extender IIs Lo - 2x T2 Cargo Expanders
Rigs: 3x T1 Cargo
Then I flew away to hisec. 
Oh! I think it can only use 1 Command mod at a time without that Command Link thingy.

Personally, I really don't care about the mining bonus, I am happy with the basic bonus from the foreman skill. I much prefer that the ship is competitive in another area, and leave the special mining modules for the Rorqual. |

Screw that. REally, I would prefer transport ships rather than mining barge skills, and could say goodbye to the mining foreman links (which need mining director anyway). I have no plans to much extra mining in it, although it would be amusing to give it 5 lite mining drones in 1.0 and see how long it takes to fill the hold =) |
