Quote: More environmental damage.
I want whole systems that eat rookie ships for breakfast just from constant damage ((meteors, gas, radiation, gravimetric shear, just something you have to tank just to fly around in it (good place for npc pirates and the like))- not just in plexes.
I want to see a black hole with a billboard 60au from it that says "If you warp near that black hole, you will die." At which point I will proceed to warp to it and die. I would be very pleased.
Be fun to mine ice from a fast moving comet (I think they thought about implementing this).
Stars should do damage, be cool to warp your battleship there to tank the star and have it kill any nano ships that tried to follow you in, and especially toast any ceptors/dictors which might try to tackle you there.
There should be some solar systems with so much gas/dust that you can't see a darn thing, just a dim glow from the sun. A system like this would automatically lower your sensor range, lock range, scan range, and sensor strength; to rediculously low levels. Part of this wish is already in the game in the form of several module effects.

Originally by: Azure Skyclad A better combat system. See PotBS for an example. Fire Arcs, local damage and component damage which affects a ships ability to operate.
A fuel and maintenance mechanic for all ships, not just capitals.
Warp drives which need to recharge before warping again. Warp scramblers etc affect this charging process and modules to counter scramblers and/or shorten the recharge process.
I doubt most of these will appear in Eve as it stands though. Eve 2 maybe?
I wouldn't mind a star fleet battles type damage system.
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts.

Some sort of new POS/SOV warfare mechanic. Change it to, uh, something fun. I know CCP have acknowledged the problem, but given their speed developing things I'd say 5+ years would be realistic :)
Also, complete overhaul of Titans.

new type of "levelling up" to run in parallel with skillbooks, for the sake of argument called "Experience" , which is only gained through gameplay experience and is earned by being active in the said "Experience"

Noooooo....any kind of "gain more skill via using the skill" could never be implemented as it could actually be FUN.
This is EVE, a PVP game, we don't want fun.

Subsystem targeting and damage repair. Walking on planets (though I challenge you to find one suitable or Earth-Like. There are a few, but it's harder than you think.) Atmospheric flight, building colonies, WARS, etc. It opens whole other worlds to the game, literally! An end to RMT and macro players!

Edited by: Thargat on 29/10/2008 11:46:36 Edited by: Thargat on 29/10/2008 11:39:04 Jeebus, some of the best ideas discussed during the years all concentrated on 3 pages so far. AWESOME. =) Though there's some crappy ones here too. ;p
My 0.2 isk: 1* Warp scattering. Increase the warpscattering from 1500 to 15 000 or more (would make instas null and void). Something would have to be done with stations though (to prevent bumping). Skills could be added that lowered the ammount of warpscattering down to 10k and gangwarp would use the SQ/WC/FCs warpskills.
2* Limited planetary interaction, give us planets to govern. UI doesn't need to be more fancy than POSs, but actual Stations achored at a planet would give more options and some flashy graphics through the station windows (pure immersion).
3* Less Lag (this would have been point 1 but I know how hard it is to monitor and fine tune very large and complex systems so I'm a bit chill about it).
4* Better UI. First and foremost a UI that doesn't lag just cus the server to client communication is doing so. Secondly it should be more customizable.
5* Prefabed ships. By removing the option to fit different modules to a ship but instead build it (with guns and all) from start sihould enable more hardcore fits (like a megathron with 8 guns but no option to remove or replace them. Would be a pain in the ass DB problem to solve tho.
6* Special environments. People have already put the finger on the spot in this thread, but yeah. DIVERSE star systems with local and system wide phenomenon, like broken up planets and gigantic asteroidfields with collition and/or constant kinetic damage and so forth.
Personally I'm hoping for a large (10x10 grid) deadspace area to wich you cannot warp to OR from. Hide something exotic (like a massive conquerable station in the midst with lots of production slots and some good high end moons) in the middle. Have some asteroidfields (advantage to close range), gasclouds (with limited visibility, good for blasters, bad for lasers, snipers and cloakers ie. No cloak). Small fast ships could harass and lead the way, large missile volleys from 250km would actually work and battles could be drawn out and epic.
There's only one sig that matters... and that's Radius. |

Biological ships. Alongside existing ships but they age. Breeders grow them and sell them too their own designs. When they get old they slow down but become more intellegent (more damage (precision) but less tracking on weapons etc and eventually die of old age if not killed

I'd love to see players in npc or noob corps unable to undock in tech 2 or capital ships.
I think that would solve a lot of the macro problems, the untouchable except for suicide ganking players, and provide a real opportunity to disrupt alliance supply lines.
It would be easy enough to rp into the game and if you really want to fly a hulk instead of a covetor, then spend the 1 mill and start your very own 1 man corp.

Originally by: Phasics After everything that has already been mentioned on the drawing boards or in development has been implemented or looked at and discarded what is the one new feature you'd most like EVE to bring to the table.
and no lag doesn't count
After everything has been implemented and lag is fixed EVE, you've sorted out all the things that is the number one, and two, and three, etc.. on top of priority list. The rest is just added features, eye candy, etc.
EVE is pretty good as it is. Number one prio is lag, screw what you say I'm voting lag. :P There's a couple of existing balance- and bugfixes that needs to be done.
What I would've been saying is "give a customizeable UI (with more features)", or sort POS/Sov warfare, but Zulupark already said they're working on that so.. uhm.. fix lag?

Improved audio. Not just fresh samples but more immersion and actual situational awareness. ****pits and bridges aren't silent in RL and nor should they be in Eve. This is an *AWESOME* idea. I'm sure it would need some tweaking, but hell yeah! Makes standings matter for so much more and opens up an absolute *ton* of design space!
Seriously, you should go pester the crap out of the CSM with this, make em do something useful!
Ninja edit:
Also, the environmental damage idea is friggen sweet as well, but that one has plenty of props so far!

Fully dynamic NPCs which respond to player interaction. So if there's much ratting, the NPCs will be weakened and move elsewhere. Missions tie into this and get parametrically generated, based on player activity and the status of the NPC factions in the area. Exploration sites that appear based on these dynamics as well, with standing gains/losses based on your actions there. More things to do besides ratting, mining and missioning. Player-owned deadspace pockets with structures in them such as bars, repair outposts, black market hubs, and so on. Player outposts demanding trade goods which can be produced by small anchorables owned by players, and providing them will attract NPC agents.
Just let the world come to life - based on the actions of the players. ---

Five years from now, it'd be nice to have a working mac client. Possibly with the Premium content from 2007. And more/better audio effects for EVE (it'd also be cool if NPCs talked - though I guess that'll never happen since re-writing dialogue is cheaper than re-recording it per language).
