I get those too, but since the no-AA jaggies are gone I consider it a fair trade.
I use to use that AA + HDR trick until I started running a cloaking ship a lot around wormholes.... those cloaking artifacts were driving me nuts so I dropped the AA.

Alright. It seems that the script need to be changed in some ways to be able to work now.
But i have no idea on how to change it to get it to work. So maybe we have to ask the guy who made this script to look into it or something.
Yeah, the script doesn't work for me at all now.

I hate to say it guys, but, it works by just setting it in CCC now. You don't need any fancy scripts. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

Confirmed, it's been working for awhile now without the need for witch-craft.
BUT HDR on roids totally ****s my screen up with white blotches... they need to sort that out so it doesnt do that.

Yeah, I got that as well with my 4870 card and asteroids. Before the last expansion, only cloacked ships had white artifacts sometimes.
Thats tolerable.. But now any asteroids that are on my screen are showered with round white circles that flicker on and off.
I really hope that the graphical department will be able to fix this. |

Confirmed that CCC can do this just fine by forcing AA, allowing you to have AA+HRD.
To remove the glowing blobs/flickers in EVE turn off HDR for now, as that's the confirmed cause. |

I have to write for NightmareX here now because he's unable to post here on the forum atm.
Anyways. Yes, you don't need this script anylonger if you have a Radeon 4800 series card. Not sure if other cards in the 4000 series cards are working though.
It's confirmed that you can just use the Catalyst Control Center to adjust the Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filering to max if you want. This is with the v9.5 driver he have been testing this out with.
And then just start EVE and activate HDR ingame and it will work without the script when the Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filering is on max in the Catalyst Control Center.
There must be something AMD have done to their newest drivers because earlier we couldn't activate HDR without breaking the Anti-Aliasing.
Yes, NightmareX have the artifacts with the asteroids to. But then, he's not much in the asteroid belts on TQ . So it's not bothering him much. |

Edited by: Mashie Saldana on 12/06/2009 12:22:24 This was fixed several months ago by ATI. I guess spamming them with driver feature requests did pay off in the end.
All they really had to do was to change the name check of the .exe file so not only oblivion.exe get the driver to use the "Oblivion" settings but also for files named exefile.exe/eve.exe as well. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't setting AA+AF manually in CCC mean it applies those settings to all games (or at least until you manually change profile)?
I don't want global AA/AF options because I play other games that are actually capable of setting them manually, and I have different settings depending on each game.
I also don't want to have to set a profile every time I want to play Eve (don't NVIDIA drivers automatically switch settings based on which game you play?).
So what's the solution here other than renaming the Eve executable to Oblivion.exe or whatever?

Can't change name to OBlivion.exe anymore, so that's out (EVE won't run).
You can set profiles in the CCC like how NVidia does, only you get a shortcut on the desktop that you can run. ---

from Nightmare X
Yes i have the same problem to that the black line pops up sometimes. But i'm not sure on what causing it. It's most likely the graphic driver.
PS. I'm not NightmareX, i'm posting for him because he's unable to post here for 19 more days

This thing still comes up from time to time with ATI Catalyst Software Suite v9.8 for Windows 7 for me.
It's kinda bad if your frapsing a fight and then this thing happens .

The problem with the black bar on top of the screen is something that comes if we encounter a graphic bug. Like now, now my screen can be 100% normal, until i warp into a belt.
Because with AA and HDR on the same time, you will get those white circles that are blinking on the asteroids, and the first thing that happens when i warp into a belt where the white circle bug are, then i instantly get the black bar on top of the screen.
So as i think it is, then i think you will get that bug when you comes over another graphic bug.
But ofc, correct me if i'm wrong.

Is there any better way to turn on AA with HDR on ATI cards? This method is awful...
