The EVE Online Quantum Rise 1.0.2 patch has been deployed and Tranquility has returned to service. If you have an issue after the deployment, please check the below list as well as the Known Issues page to see if the Dev Team is already aware of it and submit a bug report. If you are unsure of what has been changed in this patch, please take a look at the Patch Notes page.
*Important* A small number of players have experienced a problem with the blue.dll not being found during the patching process to Quantum Rise 1.0.2. To remedy this problem, players should restart their computers and download this ZIP file. Replace the files by extracting the contents into the bin folder of your eve installation folder (typically c:\program files\ccp\eve\bin\) and saying "yes" to replace files. Players should completely reboot their PC's before install.
Please keep discussion constructive and on-topic. Posts not directly related to the patch deployment, bugs or issues will be deleted.
The Dev Team will be monitoring this thread throughout the next few days to keep abreast of the patch deployment and status.
Known Issues: Items will be added to this list based upon feedback in this thread.

Running Steam on Win32, premimum, after downloading the patch and beginning install I get a "Patching error in resui.stuff. The specified file did not have the correct CRC. This indicates that your installation is corrupt. Please reinstall EVE-online." This happens both with the automatically downloaded patch and the manual downloaded one.
sooo.... re-downloading the full app. (or is there a quicker fix while I wait?)

The manual patch here has been reported to work fine, Steam users have however been having issues with patching a client started through Steam. Are you referring to that patch when you say manually downloaded or are you patching from an older build?
Also make sure that there is not an instance of exefile.exe running on your system when you start patching, you can find out by opening task manager and looking under the processes tab. ------------------

Same resui.stuff error as BlueVine above. "Installation is corrupt."

I'm on Windows Vista and using STEAM to access Eve Online.
Since can't get patch to work, am downloading the full build. Aggravating.

Manually downloading the patch I linked above, then rebooting your machine and applying the patch should resolve your issue. We are working on resolving the apparent issues Steam users are reporting but simply starting the client directly instead of through the Steam launcher seems to resolve this. ------------------

This has happened since 2 patches ago. It has something to do with fullscreen mode, since setting "Desktop" to Y in the conf-file, to get window mode, fixes this. Apple+Return doesn't tho.

the common.ini should look like this:
// [main] version=5.20 build=70393 codename=EVE-EVE-RELEASE region=ccp cryptoPack=CryptoAPI sync=70393 branch=//depot/games/eve-release/eve appname=EVE useScriptIndexFiles=1
//
If you copy everything between the // markers (including the last empty line) and paste it into your file it should no longer fail the CRC check. ------------------

The ini fix did get me in the game, however I'm concerned that I'm not actually patched now.
After fixing the ini file, the patch refuses to run saying that i'm already patched, yet the error had occured less than half-way through the patching.
What should I do?

CCP Gangleri i am in the same situation with Steam and CrC verification failed. My view is that there is a problem because Steams premium graphic users had a 4 MB patch to download to get Q Rise 1.01 . Now when we log in ( prior cheking integrity of game cache via Steam wich remove the 4.0 MB patch BECAUSE ITS ( steam ) NEVER ERALLY UPTODATE AS ITS SAYS Grr.. ) it says there is a patch of 5.3 MB . So unless the 1.02 Q rise patch is only 1.3 MB , the problem could be there.

The safest bet is always to download a fresh client of latest build, the workarounds described here are only aimed at resolving the immediate issue of people not being able to connect right after the patch but using them increases the chances of running into similar issues come next patch.
If you have had any issues then I strongly recommend that you download a new client as soon as possible from here. In the meantime you can enjoy playing Eve Online: Quantum Rise ------------------

Please take a look at this knowledge base article on how to optimize client performance. You might also want to browse the issues and workarounds topics here.
If you are experiencing performance issues in specific situtations that you can easily reproduce then you can file a bug report here, please include as much detailed information as you can in case you file a bug report, this will make it easier for us to identify what could be causing your performance issues. ------------------

The blank screen issue isn't limited to the mac. The linux client also suffered a black screen issue. Running the "official" client in a window resolved the issue. Post patch it seems to behave as normal.
Of course "normal" means I never use it because it still has the chat window text bleed, overview lines crawling from top to bottom of the screen, low fps and doesn't behave well in a multiple display (read: TWINVIEW) environment. (and yes bug reports have been filled out on these issues.)
The premium client + wine 1.1.9 patched perfectly and is working with better fps than pre-patch and appears very stable.
You guys REALLY need to get some ETA info out for the linux/mac folks about the "soon(TM) Premium beta" that was teased at fanfest.

I have lost 20-30% frames after this patch. A couple more patch days and I'm back to unplayable I guess.
And for what purpose I wonder, I doubt it's the ui-tweaking. The new shiny startgates might cost some frames, but there's got to be something more. Something I don't understand, and there's no difference between premium and classic.
I'm very unhappy with all this new unimportant stuff that we get every patch.

To reproduce: - Launch the Mac client post patch - Use the text fields in several channels as per normal - Keep using various chat channels
Actual result: - typing becomes sluggish [i.e.: characters printed to the screen cannot keep up with typing, characters are dropped] - text typed into chat text field is not injected into main chat window for the rest of the channel to see [Note: this effect occurs for all chat channels until typing in chat channels becomes impossible].

You can't download the full build and install it with steam. Tried the manual patch with steam not running and same error. So..., with steam not running it seems like it would be a directory error, since the game is essentially the same then.

Why don't you make sure it works before releasing a patch? Do you want everyone to leave steam? Then just don't make the game available on there at all.
Anyway, got the crc error, got the other error starting the game, did the ini fix, loading the game and now I have no voice audio options. Like to audio output driver and input drive it just has "no choices" listed. I can't talk or hear anyone.

The patch notes state that moving items to station container no longer locks items.... Funny, as I am seeing the exact opposite... before patch no locking, now locking almost every time.....
Otherwise no problems with the client.

Exactly what happen with this blue.dll missing, it`s after install, we have a message than we MUST reboot the computer because some files could be locked by the install processes. And people don`t reboot to avoid to wait and when they lauch the game, the game display a windows to explain than some files are not acessibles (because locked) so they move them on a temporary directory (all is explain on message displayed). After that the game stop forever. (until we re install the dev patch of this post)

Now when I start up the client I get an error window saying it can not find the compiled script code, or something like that.
So now what, the classic build you offer on the website doesnt even work.

Am I the only who has a feeling that there have been too many performance boosting updates that have been tested alone, but not together thus causing all sort of minor (quite a few) problems from complete unplayability to small glitches?
How about slowing down and just bringing a few updates and when those WORK as they should...start working on the other patch. At least with us mac users it's been a downhill since this performance "age". Stop whining. |

After 1.5 hrs play the file expands to 410meg.... Memory leaks galore.
Warping through space to an area I've been to four times in the last half hour and the file expands 4-6k every 20 seconds. No wonder the program has so many memory leaks...
I never had an issue before. Now this is unplayable. I'll only be logging in to change skills and hope like hell that another patch is released next tuesday.....

I still have the CRC failure res ... ( Steam problem ) .
I tried download patch and restart computer and install patch after : same I tried the .Ini mentionned on page 1 same I tried reinstall completly the game from steam : same I tried to download full client form this site : CrC verification failed on the installer lol ..
I ll just have to wait till steam put the update in its file to reinstall trough steam : great
Please try not patching as often as it can generate many problems for a lot of users and this is not acceptable for the most expensive video game in the world.
And yes i know patching is necessary sometimes.. just not twice in a month please :)

Excessive lag/memory leak has been here since Quantum Rising v1.0. Neither v1.0.1 or v1.0.2 has stopped the lag when jumping through a stargate. I have filed two bugrreports (#65136 and #65949) with a total of 12 logfiles enclosed but still no word from CCP even though the first was filed Nov 13th. CCP don't even acknowledge the problem under known issues, and they have yet even to "filter" the bugreports. In the meantime I can't play but I sure has to pay. Great service, not.

When running Eve Online, 5 mins into sitting in station looking things up, my CPU goes into overdrive. I do the escp/alt/delete thing and the box id's this game as sendng my cpu through spikes galore. I shut down the game, my cpu returns to normal. No more racing, no more "heat" generated.
I relog onto the game, 4 mins into the game, ditto of the above only less time to burn out. Reapeat the above 3 times, with the average time to CPU overdrive being right about 4.25 mins. There is nothing else on this system except eve and the browser. All drives, etc are up to date. It was built out for this game less than 60 days ago.
The game is not playable the way it is. I still cannot see my drones. They do not show on screen. Tried to do a mission, and the necessary characters did not show up for greater than 1/2 hour. Lag is horrific still. It is just camaflogged better = enter stations, changing regions, jumping thru gates takes forever. Salvage gives nothing - since the patch. Lots of minor problems when combined make a horrific experience for an online game which we pay for.

Yes and thank you stefanowich for taking the trouble of finding the real cause of the trouble with Eve. We seen so many posts complaining of 'lag' which isnt the problem here, whereas the actual problem is the memory leak.
I am at the same time completely flabbergasted by CCp to release a patch that mess with the mail and with the assets adding new tabs, neither which are a cause of the problems. Bot those worked all fine before Quantum expansion QED.

Don't bother, I already pressed the report thing for my own post. :P |

The problem is, they offer the game for Macs and only make sure it works on PC first. Don't offer it for machines you cannot support.
Originally by: Gilroy Marcellus I couldn't get the game to work via Steam, so I had to download the standalone EVE Client instead. :(
That's what most people who downloaded the Steam version are doing. After QS they added more offers via steam at lower prices. These appear in the Steam News and Updates for users to view and download. There is a HUGE problem with this. Mainly new users you are getting through Steam are used to playing other games and did not find Eve through your web site. So they download the game through the steam service and expect it to work. When it doesn't, if they are new trial users, they probably just quit or check the steam forums. I imagine you are getting a lot of newer users that don't visit these forums, don't know how to do workarounds to get a patch to work etc, etc. THESE are the people you should be making sure the patch works for, as they are the ones most in the dark on this. Why bother advertising for a bunch of new users if it isn't your main priority to make their first experience as good as possible?
I don't care if it's Valve or CCP that is the cause of errors in these patches, because the main thing is if the patch was just tested by CCP and found not to work, then it should not be released yet.
People complain enough when they buy a $50 game and a patch breaks it, let alone a game you continually pay for month after month.

Edited by: Jaisan on 29/11/2008 08:22:25 I'm having problems fitting modules onto my ship. I have the CPU and powergrid spare to fit them, but they install offlined. Trying to turn the module online says that the module is online, but the module is definatly offline when you try to use it. I must have Schr÷dinger's modules which are online/offline at the same time. Please help collapse these waveforms into something useable. Re-logging, unfitting the ship have no effect on the problem.
Edit to say that, these problems have never occured to me pre- latest patch.

The lag and the memory leak I refer to are the same. FPS drops from 70-110 fps to 10-15 fps as soon as I jump through any stargate. That's the lag I refer to and has filed two bugreports about.

Valve disabled the overlay for EVE temporarily since after a Steam client update on 14 Nov EVE users were unable to update (the issue was discovered when we released Quantum Rise 1.0.1 on 22 Nov). Valve is working on the issue and will re-enable the overlay as soon as they have a resolution and have released a Steam client update.

Ever since the update to Quantum Rise, I've been having an issue of getting disconnected anywhere from 5-10 or more times a day. Usually, it happens between 1300 and 1800 EVE Time. The message that I get when I get disconnected is that the socket has been closed. And I also get a windows error saying that Eve has stopped working and it reboots the client.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
I run 3 accounts on the same machine, its a single core, I use Windows XP and Classic graphics. Never had problems before the patch and now I have this:
- When the 3 accounts are in a gang/fleet and I use the commander to WARP TO some place (gate/planet/station/whatever) all 3 clients become frozen (5 to 10 seconds) when they initiate the warp.
PS: Tested with Industrial ships in several systems and regions, every warp out had the same problem, tried changing cache size with no solution. To turn the things clear, I will repeat: Never had this type of problem before the patch.

Just some clarifications of the patch notes that were a bit vague on the changes to the Common/Rare Ore Refiner certificates.
It should be noted that not only did the number of prerequisites for some of the certificates change, but the actual skills and levels involved in those prerequisites have changed. For example, Spodumain Processing was not required for any of the Rare Ore Refiner certificates before the patch, but now is required in order to achieve Rare Ore Refiner - Standard. (See my prior post regarding harvesting/refining certificates pre-patch)
As well, the Hedbergite and Hemorphite have their Level 3 requirements moved from the Rare Ore Refiner - Basic to the Common Ore Refiner - Elite certificate. Arkanor, Bistot, and Mercoxit no longer make an appearance in the Rare Ore Refiner line until the Elite level at which point all three are required to be at level V.

Preformance has seemed to have dropped significantly since the expansion and patchs. Initial game play was comprimised alot with the expansion with 2-8 second mid play freezes. First patch helped a bit with preformance, but client still would stop, then start again in mid stream hanging up for 1-2 seconds. Now with the second patch this is much less, but will still periodically stop mid stream for .5-1.0 seconds. Frame rate as reported by the in game ctrl-F (All setting max) used to run at 135-145 pre expansion in space during mission battle's, now runs 80-85 in open space with nothing going on. Computer and Vid card are very very capable and is current technology as of August 2008. I would have to say that what ever was added has decreased the game play significantly.

Hi,
Have posted a bug report on same, but posting here because I am intrigued to be the first one to be posting on this issue...
Basically since the patch:
1. Cannot clone jump without relogging to find myself in new head 2. Modules (launchers) are stuck offline in station / in space, and when I try to online them it tells me they are already online. I only see them online when I relog. 3. Missile launchers cannot load missles or unload them to cargo bay, or appear to deplete when fired (if I relog I then see missiles have been consumed). 4. Targetting does not function properly - target overview will only display one target and I have to individually select it in space and fire. \
This is all very frustrating and clearly renders the game unplayable...
Actions I have taken to assess the issue:
a. Cleared the cache b. Tried logging in from a different computer.
Result: No change!
Operating system: Vista PC spec: HI end Client: Premium

I've noticed strange graphics behavior after the patch When i start running second client both clints start to flicker randomly. Ship lights start to flicker off sync, station lights shine through textures sometimes and the most strange thing - textures sometimes kind of bleed through one client view to the other. It's like i sit in a station by one char and could just see some knd of ghost image of the gate the other char approaches or the ship or station - usually it's some brightly lit objects. I've seen this stuff before patch, but usually it was after some hours of running both clients and it usually was a sign that client will crash soon. Now i have it all the time - even on the startup splash-screen the planet and ship exhaust trails start to flicker (again, the brightest parts of the image). Win XP sp3, classic client, core 2 duo, 2 gig ram, nvidia 8400mg WTF is this any ideas?

Sitting in covert 300kms from gate, see red warp to gate but all i see is the gate and some wrecks around it.
check overview settings + brackets change from pvp to another and then back again, same thing gate and wrecks, then about 10-15 seconds later the gate and wrecks warp to the possition 300 clicks from me and there is the red also at the gate.
Lag? multiple in gang have experienced this and some other strange stuff since the patch.
i run vista pre, nvidia 9800 GTx+ and my frame rates have dropped on average by 30 per instance of the game.
moving modules in station, joining fleet. strange thing it only appears to be in the one system.

I've had this too ever since quantum rise. I noticed my graphics card was getting pretty hot running it and so I underclocked it below factory. After that, the problems stopped.

Whatever you have done has totally rendered this game unplayable on any of my systems. I've a HI-end system, technology as of Sept. 2008. All drivers are up to date. I cannot transfer items from the cargo-hold to hangar group; Cannot open more th an one window in game at a time; cannot trade/accept etc.; everything I do makes my system blink and sputter.
3 minutes after logging onto the game my system begins to work hard, the cpu races etc. until I either log off or it crashes. My HUD disappears mid-flight/mid-fight. My drones appear and disappear with monotonous regularity. It took me 13 mins. to log-on after authentification. The list goes on and on, with new additions almost hourly.
Did not the last patch address these things? If no, when will they. I am paying several accounts and none are playable atm.
How long will these "inconviences" continue?
How long before we can actually play the game we are paying for?
The new graphics are awesome.

It seems somewhat of a novelty feature most users won't be using, as you have to notify CCP before you have a major battle to have better performance. Guess 64 bit computers are pretty high priced over there and they only got a couple?

I've been having a really annoying "feature" wherein upon being told to "return to drone bay" one of my drones will "abandon" instead.
Now I know it's not user error because: A: I did ALL the drones in space back to the bay and only ONE abandoned. B: I don't even HAVE a keyboard shortcut for abandon (I use keyboard shorts for attack and return to bay).
At first I thought I was just losing drones to one-shots. And I was a bit annoyed. But I had put drones in my overview for something else the other day and noticed that I would still see a drone sitting about 1300m off my stationary ship when it happened... sure enough... it was my missing one. Happens about 1 time in 20 that I do a return to drone bay while in a mission. Doesn't seem to happen when not in deadspace.
