The EVE Online Quantum Rise 1.0.2 patch has been deployed and Tranquility has returned to service. If you have an issue after the deployment, please check the below list as well as the Known Issues page to see if the Dev Team is already aware of it and submit a bug report. If you are unsure of what has been changed in this patch, please take a look at the Patch Notes page.
*Important* A small number of players have experienced a problem with the blue.dll not being found during the patching process to Quantum Rise 1.0.2. To remedy this problem, players should restart their computers and download this ZIP file. Replace the files by extracting the contents into the bin folder of your eve installation folder (typically c:\program files\ccp\eve\bin\) and saying "yes" to replace files. Players should completely reboot their PC's before install.
Please keep discussion constructive and on-topic. Posts not directly related to the patch deployment, bugs or issues will be deleted.
The Dev Team will be monitoring this thread throughout the next few days to keep abreast of the patch deployment and status.
Known Issues: Items will be added to this list based upon feedback in this thread.

Angel's own best patch day practice 1-Zip bin directory to safe location ("%ProgramFiles%\CCP") 2-Zip data directory to safe location ("%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP") 3-Proceed to download/apply patch 4-Bugs occur? Unzip and restart @ step 3 5-Profit!

The patching went fine on all the Macs we have in the office, we are looking into the issues being reported by some Mac users and will update the Mac feedback thread when we have more info. ------------------

Running Steam on Win32, premimum, after downloading the patch and beginning install I get a "Patching error in resui.stuff. The specified file did not have the correct CRC. This indicates that your installation is corrupt. Please reinstall EVE-online." This happens both with the automatically downloaded patch and the manual downloaded one.
sooo.... re-downloading the full app. (or is there a quicker fix while I wait?)

The manual patch here has been reported to work fine, Steam users have however been having issues with patching a client started through Steam. Are you referring to that patch when you say manually downloaded or are you patching from an older build?
Also make sure that there is not an instance of exefile.exe running on your system when you start patching, you can find out by opening task manager and looking under the processes tab. ------------------

Same resui.stuff error as BlueVine above. "Installation is corrupt."

I'm on Windows Vista and using STEAM to access Eve Online.
Since can't get patch to work, am downloading the full build. Aggravating.

Manually downloading the patch I linked above, then rebooting your machine and applying the patch should resolve your issue. We are working on resolving the apparent issues Steam users are reporting but simply starting the client directly instead of through the Steam launcher seems to resolve this. ------------------

Rebooted and tried to open Eve Online. Now I receive the following fatal Eve error before patch process even begins:
"Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged, or corrupt files. Please re-install the game client. Verification failed: "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\eve online\common.ini", crc:a281f41a, expected:53680c4a."

This has happened since 2 patches ago. It has something to do with fullscreen mode, since setting "Desktop" to Y in the conf-file, to get window mode, fixes this. Apple+Return doesn't tho.

the common.ini should look like this:
// [main] version=5.20 build=70393 codename=EVE-EVE-RELEASE region=ccp cryptoPack=CryptoAPI sync=70393 branch=//depot/games/eve-release/eve appname=EVE useScriptIndexFiles=1
//
If you copy everything between the // markers (including the last empty line) and paste it into your file it should no longer fail the CRC check. ------------------

Just to say...
Thanks for this. Had several of them "corrupted" but fixed it all very smoothly. Nice turnaround for the repair job.

The manual patch has the same issue for me, yes. I just rebooted per your suggestion (interrupting the full download - arg) and still getting the same error. Going to try the ini suggestion now.

The ini fix did get me in the game, however I'm concerned that I'm not actually patched now.
After fixing the ini file, the patch refuses to run saying that i'm already patched, yet the error had occured less than half-way through the patching.
What should I do?

CCP Gangleri i am in the same situation with Steam and CrC verification failed. My view is that there is a problem because Steams premium graphic users had a 4 MB patch to download to get Q Rise 1.01 . Now when we log in ( prior cheking integrity of game cache via Steam wich remove the 4.0 MB patch BECAUSE ITS ( steam ) NEVER ERALLY UPTODATE AS ITS SAYS Grr.. ) it says there is a patch of 5.3 MB . So unless the 1.02 Q rise patch is only 1.3 MB , the problem could be there.

The safest bet is always to download a fresh client of latest build, the workarounds described here are only aimed at resolving the immediate issue of people not being able to connect right after the patch but using them increases the chances of running into similar issues come next patch.
If you have had any issues then I strongly recommend that you download a new client as soon as possible from here. In the meantime you can enjoy playing Eve Online: Quantum Rise ------------------

Please take a look at this knowledge base article on how to optimize client performance. You might also want to browse the issues and workarounds topics here.
If you are experiencing performance issues in specific situtations that you can easily reproduce then you can file a bug report here, please include as much detailed information as you can in case you file a bug report, this will make it easier for us to identify what could be causing your performance issues. ------------------

The blank screen issue isn't limited to the mac. The linux client also suffered a black screen issue. Running the "official" client in a window resolved the issue. Post patch it seems to behave as normal.
Of course "normal" means I never use it because it still has the chat window text bleed, overview lines crawling from top to bottom of the screen, low fps and doesn't behave well in a multiple display (read: TWINVIEW) environment. (and yes bug reports have been filled out on these issues.)
The premium client + wine 1.1.9 patched perfectly and is working with better fps than pre-patch and appears very stable.
You guys REALLY need to get some ETA info out for the linux/mac folks about the "soon(TM) Premium beta" that was teased at fanfest.

I have lost 20-30% frames after this patch. A couple more patch days and I'm back to unplayable I guess.
And for what purpose I wonder, I doubt it's the ui-tweaking. The new shiny startgates might cost some frames, but there's got to be something more. Something I don't understand, and there's no difference between premium and classic.
I'm very unhappy with all this new unimportant stuff that we get every patch.

Edited by: Abulurd Boniface on 28/11/2008 00:40:46 Edited by: Abulurd Boniface on 28/11/2008 00:37:07 Chat windows become unresponsive over time and text typed into a chat window is not injected into the main chat thread.
To reproduce: - Launch the Mac client post patch - Use the text fields in several channels as per normal - Keep using various chat channels
Actual result: - typing becomes sluggish [i.e.: characters printed to the screen cannot keep up with typing, characters are dropped] - text typed into chat text field is not injected into main chat window for the rest of the channel to see [Note: this effect occurs for all chat channels until typing in chat channels becomes impossible].
