I can't download the patch nor from the ingame popup nor from the EvE-Online download webpage. It just doesn't want to start download. Every other web related communication works just fine. Ne daj bozhe da se srbi slozhe |

Using an imac 24"
Autopatch breaks the client.
Downloading the new client does not work.
Funny, this is exactly what happened the last time.

Oh so you fixed some performance problems? Seriously? Did you address the performance problems by just throwing more ram at it because my client is using twice the RAM it did before. Two clients? Impossible now. Can barely run one client. After 30 minutes of play the game runs out of memory and crashes.

Animenick : Exactly, every jump adds 30 MB to memory usage. After 10 jumps I can't play normally, using 2 clients is impossible now.
I tried change cache settings, but it doesn't help.
I report it and sent task manager's screenshot. I hope they will solve it fast

I'm seeing a huge increase in RAM usage since 1.0.2. Right now EVE is up to 1,6GB. I noticed it increases by about 50MB each time I jump through a stargate. It's like the client isn't unloading the previous solar system when it loads a new one.
I've also had one spontaneous CTD already which hasn't happened before. This is something I can't recreate though.

Same thing. I'm only running one client, premium, in vista with 1 GB of ram. Used to run fine before but now it just slowed to a crawl and ended up freezing my computer. Managed to catch a message about too much memory usage by program: CCP eve online. I'm going to use classic client and see if it's still leaking/using too much memory.

Hope that works for you. I'm having these issues in the classic client. No reason it should be using more than 300mb of RAM yet it is.

same , now i cant even open 2 clients , when i try , eve opens up and then crash, with the microsoft error report message . probably rebooting will fix it for half hour and then it'll repeat itself.

Client crashes about 1 second after showing splash screen with automatic patch. Have cleared the cache and settings but that doesn't work. Doing a fresh install now and will see what that turns up.

On Win2k had no problem before but now right after startup each process eats 190MB memory (used to be less) and keeps growing and growing and growing.. No crash yet but I restarted one client at 478MB and the other at around 300MB. Running dual clients makes the HD start to scratch very quick now, it never used to do that.

For those who are experiencing memory leak issues....
[non-TL:DR version]
Check your cache size setting:
esc -> Display & Graphics -> Cache size.
This should be set as high as your computer can handle, if you are having problems then set it back to 'off'.
If you try this and are still having issues, please submit a detailed bug report!
Rest assured we are looking into this from our end as well, but there is absolutely no substitute for good information from you guys about what you are experiencing on your own machines.
[Full version]
Memory leaks?
The graphics cache size setting determines how much graphics assets are kept resident in memory. This allows faster loading of scenes, particularly if you're warping in and out often. This comes with a side effect though that the client wil use more memory than it would otherwise. This is quite often mistaken fora memory leak. you may rest assured, it is not.
A memory leak is when the client starts using up memory and does not release it properly when it should. If you set your cache size to anything other than 'off' you are telling EVE to use that much more additional memory.
Normally the EVE client will use around ~200-500mb of RAM. If you then change your cache size to 'High - 256' that means you are telling the EVE client to use an additional 256mb of RAM, thus your client will eventually grow to be using ~400-800mb of RAM.
Optimally you would want to set this to as high as your computer can handle. This can vary widely depending on your hardware, OS, and what other programs are running when you play EVE. A general rule of thumb would be to load up EVE then open the task manager and see how much RAM you have free. If you've got plenty free, turn the setting up, if you're running low, turn it back down. ____________________________ I break things.Ö

Noticed a lot of people having issues with memory usage.
I am not one of them and for the means of testing and isolation of hardware my system is:
Q6600 CPU 4Gb RAM GA-P35-DS3R Motherboard 8800GT 512Mb GFX Currently using Forceware Driver 178.24 Windows Vista x64 Business Edition SP1 (All windows updates applied)
I'm taking a huge leap here but I'm guessing that those with memory issues have low amouts of VRAM? I'm also assuming that the way that CCP have made everything render faster is by offloading more of the general models directly into VRAM rather than loading when neccessary. Those without enough VRAM will see their normal RAM usage sky-rocket as the graphics driver will use normal RAM instead and swap when neccessary.
I could of course, be completely wrong ^.^

I think thats the same thing thats happening on my MacBook Pro. It seems like its going to install the patch after I download then it just goes away. I try to play the game and it tells me to download and install the patch...again !!

Edited by: Stryker Vanguard on 11/12/2008 17:18:51 Well, I'm stuffed. I've now uninstalled and reinstalled, emptied a billion cache folders, done everything I can think of and the client crashes instantly with some microsoft error saying something about mscvr80.dll... any ideas anyone? I can't get the thing running at all.
Edit: After third reinstall it works... what the hell. ---SIG HERE--- Why am I still here? I'm an addict. |

Had the same issue but I guess I got lucky and one fresh install fixed whatever issue it was.
Edit: lol alright then.

I also have got problems with the memory usage. Client gets bigger and bigger until it crashes. Putting cache size to "off" does not help.
Like other guys have already mentioned the loss seems to appear when I jump into a new system and the system is loaded.

Memory usage is as bad as ever.
I can still only play no more than hour at a time. Cant even be arsed to log back on as its just not worth the aggro.
And hey NO!! its not my system ok. My system is more than powerful enough to deal with this game, its the game itself thats borked since Quantum.
