Edited by: Borun Tal on 12/12/2008 04:25:50 Edited by: Borun Tal on 12/12/2008 04:18:23 Updated client on Vista Business/32 (Dell XPS M1710, 3Gig RAM) and on XP/Pro 32-bit (AMD/64, 3 Gig RAM); same lag problem since QR was first released. Memory leak not as bad, but still there over time. Played for two straight hours on both boxes, about to restart XP machine. Seeing 5-7 seconds lag every 2-3 minutes. Cache low, Interval One, latest DirectX drivers and video drivers, no background processes (other than basic Windows stuff). Lag kicks in whether I'm sitting at a gate doing nothing, orbiting a rock mining it, kills pirates, or opening my skills in Character Sheet (basically, what I'm doing isn't relevent).
Problem I (and others) have been reporting since QR release still there.
Edit: how about, since we're paying one or more account charges per month (I have two accounts), you turn on the ability for multiple alts in a single account to train at the same time, as payment for our patience and paying for a newly-defective service?
Edit 2: just shut down the client running under Vista, and I got a crash message...

Okay, I am a little ****ed. I downloaded the patch and now I can not log on. I keep getting status unknown. It late and I could really use some support here as I have tried deleting the cache. But still I get status unknown.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! CCP for this great patch.
I especially like the ability to shut off the annoying camera shake. That always bothered me.
Keep up the good work!

good patch aside from one problem for me. Massive memory usage. 1.0.2 could duel client fine and sit at about 700mb a client. but now with 1.0.3 its sitting at 2 gigs for just one client running.
Specs-- AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ @ 2.8GHz 2gigs ram Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB Windows XP SP2.

I also noticed that the patch for the premium and classic clients were roughly the same size, is that supposed to be?

Thank God, I thought something wrong with my eyes. Very uncomfortable feeling. Yes, text appears blurred, just a little, but enough to make my eyes hurt.

Originally by: Horatio Nately jump clones are still crashing the client
I'm getting this error also. After selecting clone jump my display ends up stuck at the old station and the only way to proceed is to logout/login.
I'm also seeing the memory leak issue (Dell D620 running WinXP SP2 ; 1GB Ram ; Classic client). Everything starts out ok around 500mb, but gradually rises to >990mb. Running 2 clients just isn't playable anymore.
And thanks for the updates earlier too. I'm sure once these issues are ironed out everything will be much smoother :)

Haven't really looked at the memory usage, maybe that's the reason for my problem too: While fps is higher than before (not that much, only about 10-15%), I experience massive GUI lag. e.g. opening an info window can stop a client for up to 10 seconds. Warp-in lag is bigger than before, and locks up the whole PC, not just the single client. After jumping through a gate, the client pauses for about 4 seconds in the "cloaked ship with 150% zoom in" state.
Win XP, dual core, 3 GPUs, 6 monitors, 2.25 GB usable RAM (of 4 GB installed), 5 clients in classic
Nice to have a client that behaves well in large fleet battles. How about one that also works for normal game play?

Just weighing in as another XP user experiencing unacceptable memory usage post-patch. Two (or even three) premium clients were workable on this 3gig E6850 with 2 gig RAM prior to this patch, now even a single client eats it's way out to ~1.5gig RAM and becomes unplayable relatively quickly.
Thumbs-up for removing camera shake, please fix the memory issues.

Edited by: CCP Atlas on 12/12/2008 12:14:07 We are still working on a client-side memory leak problem.
It appears that jumping between systems can trigger a memory usage increase in some circumstances. If you are running in fullscreen and alt-tab out of the application while jumping the memory leak can be severely increased.
We will keep you posted and will provide a fix as soon as we have one.

Atlas, looking at a lot of the posts in this thread it appears to be affecting people with XP more-so than those on Vista, you've also stated in your patch notes that you've change your memory management system to a fragmented system.
So I'm presuming that the new memory usage problems are being caused here. I've noticed that I get the same issues using the classic client on my Windows XP VMWare machine.
VMWare setup: Windows XP SP3 1 Core @ 2.4Ghz (Q6600 Virtualisation Technology Enabled) 2GB RAM VMWare graphics acceleration VMWare Tools are installed.

While everyone was busy trolling and crying about scandals, an excellent patch was released.
Upon connecting I immediately turned off drones and all others effects possible. Since then I have been in a couple of large fights that would have previously killed my client and the lag has been exactly ZERO -none whatsoever. It appears there are still a few bugs to still be ironed out, but so far so good here!
For those of us with older system this could very well be the best patch ever released.

Logging in process is extremely slow, most of the time it never actually enters the game just stalls at character selection or entering game stage. All stages very slow, but no error messages. Tried to reinstall, this seemed to do the trick but then today its slowed right down again, cant even enter. Have tried deleting cache etc no joy. plz help

Well, the problem isn't just memory hogging, at least not for me.
About 2 hours in, after much flying about, I suddenly got the 'Timothy Leary Acid Trip Mode' screen - everything everywhere, flasting lights, the whole acid trip. Managed to log off, and my GPU was up to 90 C. After an hour, things cooled down enough to log in again. Multiple reboots later, after resetting to Classic graphics, I'm still approaching 90 C on the GPU.
Since I'm on the road 45 weeks a year, it'd be kinda nice if EVE didn't turn the laptop into a molten slagheap - there's no place to fit a Faction thermal hardener.

So there is no problem when running in fullscreen?

Glad you guys are on it, I can't bug report it since I run unsupported setup (Linux + Wine + Premium) but last night I did some tests and is definitely leaking memory when jumping systems.
To reproduce:
1. Close and restart client 2. Hop in a shuttle and set autopilot somewhere far. 3. Have task manager open sorting by memory usage descending.
You will note it adds 1-10M to used memory on each jump. My client under wine 1.1.9 starts using 305M, after around 80 jumps it was over 1Gb.

That pretty much describes the problem I have. I have submitted a bug report, but did not think about ALT-TABbin I was doing.
Three crashes to desktop since yesterday, near stargate (2) or station (1) and while I went to see web browser windows during warp.

We have a patch coming to our Singularity test server shortly. This should include a fix for the alt-tab memory issue and the related crash issues.

The new patch hasn't really changed much for me. I only run one client and am still getting 250 to 300 fps. I know a lot of you are having problems. Here's my config:
Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.5GHz Dual GeForce 8800 Ultras in SLI Windows Vista 32 Home Premium
Haven't been in any large fleet battles yet (not for lack of trying ). Memory stays at a little less than 2GB used and performance in other areas is fine (i.e. opening windows, jumping, etc.).
