Most of the Anglo-Saxon world has issues at the moment... I'm curious as to hear what it's like on the continent with the youth situation.
France and Greece seem to say for themselves their situation.... but the rest?

Indeed, Indeed.
I am of two minds on this problem, it appears from word of mouth and media to be a problem over much of the country, but around where I live I have never heard of a stabbing or even much crime beyond what the banks charge...

Limmie guess we erect a nice big fence around London barricade it, and class anything with an IQ of 60 or less a zombie?
In fact can we do this anyway

To be fair you live with those scots and come from a VERY nice country with a damn good educational facility with you.
The English aren't so lucky and any attempt to help them it met with more crap.
What those Chav idiot`s don't realize is just because they have been to school, does not mean there educated.
That why i wanted to go with Fab Lab
The current English generation no NOTHING of the corporate world, economics, or corporate thinking.
Add a lack of creativity and freedom of expression all they have left is to drinking and get 10 year old girls pregnant.
That right there is KILLING small towns and rural areas.

that is a good thing and the majority of people support it. I'm not tolerating people like you leaching from the NHS for something that is your own fault.
and all the gang violents stuff. well that is generally what happens when firearms are completely outlawed the criminals keep hold of them and the imbalance in armament makes them feel immune and encourages crime.

No. This might be a difficult thing for you to comprehend, but this country isn't actually that bad. Free education, free healthcare, hot and cold running water, well maintained infrastructure, every material item you need is one trip down the shops away, the list goes on. Yes, we have problems but so does every ****ing country on Earth. ____________________

Agreed and most European country`s have those amenities.
But if you leave to a country like Finland (were there are least people) and was to open a fab lab, add a small town or village go with a dedicated to intelligence slogan and campaign, you get yourself another silicone valley.
England HAS the potential to do this. BUT its the drive to why you would waste your time helping them, when they will not respect or even understand the help and why its there,
England has the potential its right there, but its the English people them selfs which are letting this down.
The small towns Anti intellectual way of thinking is what is killing there small towns.. in terms of jobs etc. the idiots are actually destroying there own futures.

/looks at Dave. Blimey and I thought I didn't like the place much. Then again I come from NW3 in London where I was brought-up surrounded by intellectuals, actors, poets, playwrights, etc.
Dave, if you can figure out how to put that fence up I'm moving back to Primrose Hill and booking my daughter a place at Channing.
Reaperofsly's quite correct about the infrastructure here and problems elsewhere. It's just so difficult to compare places as 'quality of life' is so subjective.

Well this thread is certainly going happy places isn't it?
As I've already said in this thread I have my complaints with the way the United Kingdom is these days but it can be fixed, It'll be hard to do and the work hasn't started yet but nothing is ever too far gone.
There are some absolute nut-cases in here though..which is frankly quite scary.

this to be honest, when did you vote for the war on Iraq, or the smoking ban?
When we voted Labour at the last election.

I'll tell you what happened:
- even before people like you noticed that something was wrong, nice people like me stopped wanting to visit the UK because it was turning into a surveillance state and Tony Blair had turned into a right-wing fundamentalist (which was amazing, because I was in the UK when he was everyone's liberal/left-ish hope like Obama is now)
- in the end, Bin Laden won ... because fear is the mind killer, remember?
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

Because the WW2 era of thinking it over. And that means chain of command. You listened to police. You listened to teachers. You listened to your boss. You listened to your parents. No questions asked. If you broke the order you got in trouble.
Today, it's more of a "why do I have to do this?" line of thinking. You are a drunkard causing a disturbance in a public place? It's ok, police can't touch you unless you attack them or another person or property, if the police taser you or tackles you, you have civil rights groups waiting to attack the police on your behalf. Teachers can't touch you, if they do they lose their job. You are a "special needs" child, enjoy your attention. You can't be fired unless you display gross incompetence or break the law (theft) if you are a minority or woman, you have people willing to fight for your more-then-equal-rights, regardless of if you deserved to be fired or not. Parents can't touch you anymore. Spanking a child is child abuse, punish them too much and you are an unfit parent.
Western Society has gone soft. And this won't change any time soon because no one wants to make changes, we signed our own death warrant when we let bleeding hearts and minorities run the country.
Have a Merry Christmas...

Forgive me if somebody has already said something like this, but I'm really rather angry.
Most people that see something wrong with the country are quick to blame my generation, which is great, isn't it? 90% of us are good people, doing absolutely nothing wrong, but we can't walk the streets without getting suspicious stares, because of a tiny minority of people that generally act like idiots? I don't want to sound crude here, but get it into your f*cking heads people, most people are fine. If you keep fixating on the minority of idiots, they'll revel in the attention, and get even worse.

I can't help but wonder if people here posting such negative views realise what it's like to live as an ethnic minority in places like Asia or Africa ... places where the concept of racism itself seems foreign to their culture.
