Too many small minds in this world. Very very very few big minds are in the right places to really do much. No respect for life and the embracing, no hell, the outright WORSHIP of a secular selfish existence.
The 'civilized' world needs to take a good hard look at what exactly they are doing because from my vantage point it has already jumped off the cliff.

Civilised? I hope you're not referring to the UK
I'd disagree, there are a lot of big minds but they tend to herd together like sheep which leads to laws that justify and reward ciminality while condemning the victims. Also, taxes that mean the lowest paid have to cover the shortfalls created by the loopholes that allow higher paid people to avoid paying it. I sincerely doubt that public opinion has anything to do with this as most are mortified at it.
The real problem lies in the fact that the Brits won't stand up and be counted. They refuse to be among the people who say to the government that 'enough is enough'. For that reason alone, the government stomp all over the Brits and get away with it, taxing them into oblivion and taking away every right they ever had to a resonable standard of living.
Our only bill of rights is the Magna Carta which has been slowly eroded away over time. Notice how many changes there have been to the rules that it contained. These were supposed to be hard and fast rules that could never be changed. One that has not been rescinded, I would hasten to add, is that "We shall not be unfairly taxed on our income". Whether is it income tax or VAT or even Council Tax, it is coming out of your income at some stage since your income is what you still have in your pocket after income tax as well. Think about it.
I have no doubt the Brits will go back to bending over for the government to shaft them even more, damn weeners. I'll be glad to leave this country to rot in the hell hole the government is creating for it.

No not just the UK, but well pretty much everywhere that is in step with the rest of the 'modern' world. And if a mind can be herded and cowed (pun intended : P) then it is not a big mind. The sheep my friend love to be herded. My son, who is on the lowest taxation scale pays 30% tax, while some rich **** pays 15, if not less and Madonna pays nothing. Unfortunately my son is also a sheep and believes that the UK is the end all and be all of existence and while I love him I have no pity for him, his woes and whatever he gets. We have offered, many a time, to pay for him to leave that hole but he continuously refuses. For how long can you convince someone not to jump off the roof? I reached my patience end and told him if that's what he wants, then that's what he can have. He knows I love him but he also knows I won't help him out when the country finally collapses and or things go terribly wrong for him. It's harsh but he won't listen and thinks he knows best.
That is the real power of indoctrination, the fact that the Brits still think Britannia rules the waves and that all bow to the will of the English, while being oblivious and blind to the simple, and tragic, truth: they are cattle, nothing more.

I just came back from London on a business trip, and wow, so many cameras, so many new laws, crimes of stabbing on the TV, hell I saw kids showing of their MG42 on the TV!!!. Gang wars in the UK!!
Let alone rights like not able to smoke any where in the airport not even a smoking room in the entire Heathrow airport!!
And I come from a Middle Eastern country, with a dictatorship regime ffs!!.
This scares me b/c the only glimmer of hope we had was looking at the west for civil liberties issues and now I just donĘt understand how did the people let this happen?!
Yeah, I've been watching the UK situation, and even with all the crap going on in the States, its still better than that mess... In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

And too many weak people in England who won't stand up to them.
I've noticed this trait at work. Everyone makes noises and if you try to get something done, they all scurry back to their holes leaving you to face the company alone. Not one of them has the common sense to realise that the company can't sack the entire workforce if they stand together.
It's what I have come to understand. Too much "I" and not enough "We" means that everyone thinks only of themselves which is why nothing gets done about the probems created by the government.
Elections mean nothing here it done more for tradition than anything else now. The Labour party who were created by the working man to help the workers are now just as Conservative as the Conservatives are. Just remember that the Chief Whip who gives the information to the PM is the same Civil Servant no matter who is in power. As we all know, anyone feeding information can dictate which direction they want things to go by providing more information about one thing but leaving out another. So it's really the Chief Whip who makes policy, not the PM since the PM can only act on what information he is given.

Because a lot of us Brits have a "mustn't rock the boat" attitude. We grumble about it down the pub with our mates, but would never dream of doing anything about it.
Well, what can you do? Take your mates and go stand in a corner with some signs? Or you can vote for another party who will be exactly the same as the one you have now. Good luck to you...
People have to realize they actually dont have the power to prevent people in power from doing what they want.

Really? Are they going to put everyone in jail or just shoot them all?
It's people with that attitude that got the UK in the state it's in now. It's people who think they don't have the power because they are thinking solo player style who allow the government to walk all over them. Just because they are in power means nothing. You already know from playing Eve that teamwork makes it happen and when (if ever) the Brits start to work together as a team, they will force the government to back down.
Just like in this game. BOB may be all powerful against other alliances but if the entire population of eve not in their alliance were to go after them at once, BOB would fall. It's about as unlikely to happen as Brits standing together though.

Its just plain facts. Maybe you could have a revolution in the 17:th century but getting one these days will never happen. People will whine and moan, but in the end they will accept whatever changes are coming.
When the police starts killing random civilians out in the open, then maybe people will react. Before that, I believe people will always think about themselfs, their family, their jobs, careers, comfort and so on first and do nothing that puts that at risk.
People are only dangerous when they have nothing to lose, and in the UK and the US, people still have plenty to lose.
Your comparison to Eve doesnt hold water. Players risk nothing real here.

Speaking for myself: because I don't live in a part of it full of illiterate hooligans. Breaking news: all countries have their particular crappy areas; bad luck for you that you live in one. Most of England is actually a lovely place to live, and I should know, because I've been all over this country.
Turn off the TV, stop reading the Daily HateMail, and move out of the ****ty housing estate you're in.
