Major drone testing and tuning is taking place on Chaos so the server will be rebooted/update quite rapidly and sometimes without any server messages, we are not asking for feedback or complaints on current situation on Chaos until we think it's worth asking for.
What is being aimed for:
- Giving drones accuracy to make them better at engaging targets of "same size", giving them the ability to do wrecking hits etc. - this is currently in testing/tuning on Chaos.
- Allowing ships to carry way more drones of same size/smaller size than before, allowing them to send in waves after waves of drones in case they die.
- Retuning manufacturing cost of drones to make them more die'friendly.
- Allowing ships to fight drones back if they have close combat weaponry (or ofcourse smartbombs/missiles) by tuning their signatureRadius.
- Drones have been given super fast approuch velocity, so if the target is outside their range they will be moving at MWD based velocities.
- Making drones also lootable by decreasing their volume to allow players to take loot-drones into their cargo bay.
10x light drones won't be able to pwn a frigate (that is if the frigate fights the drones) just as 10x hvy drones won't be able to pwn a battleship, but a frigate with huge drone bay can continue launching drones for none stop action on his oponent, as well as Dominix would be able to launch none stop hvy drones at another battleship.
HP's, velocities and tracking speeds are now varying more within size classes, making the lower damaging and less hp drones faster and better tracking; can be used for more efficient battling vs. smaller vessels

problem might be that all ships can use 10 drones now taking out the gallante drone bonus stuff.
Also need to consider that frigs could use 10 heavy drones if they can carry a lot more etc. makes frigs pretty nasty :)
apart from that all i think its a nice idea

Sounds great. Can only imagine the swarms of drones a dominix will be able to carry. I also like the drone mwd feature. Does this means a drone carrier can sit back in a fight and launch drones from afar? Pretty neat if that is the case. Cant wait to try this out.

TBH i think you're going to far again, all that needed to be changed was the infinite range bug, and now all this stuff about waves of drones Sounds like stuff that is going to drastically change pvp yet again. Anyway i shouldnt talk, i can't test atm, hope it all works out though. ________________________________________________________

Or are you also optimizing the drone graphics and bandwidth usage etc ?

Yes, but Bships will be able to carry loads of M and S drones, so a Bship focusing drones on a single frig/cruiser won't make the pilot very happy as it's none-stop-action ... it's fun thou'

There also seems to be a thing with drones, where 'all' of the drones on your screen, no matter who they belong to, all fire in synch. Instead of a bunch of drones flying around and shooting at their own leisure, they all fire together at once.
Is this a bug that causes lag, or a feature emant to reduce lag? I don't know, but this sort of thing happens most often for me when I'm with a group of people deploying drones to attack a player conquerable station.
