I've been playing eve for 4 year but since the timecards price fixing and crap economy I've went from paying ú20 for 3 months to ú35 (I pay ú46 for 6 months on wow), therefore running 3 accounts is no longer justifiable. Eve is by far the most expensive MMO I know of.
Good bye Eve hello LOTRO life time membership, now theres value for money!
CCP: Why don't you ask your economist if its good practice to compete against other MMO's by having uncompetitive prices. When you get the correct answer file this under the question "Why are so many people leaving eve?"
And before anyone says says CCP arent responsible for the current economy, they arent but the Icelandic banking system didnt help now did it - lol |

come on Eve is not like other mmo's it doesn't directly compete with them as its a unique sandbox not cookie cutter same old, same old (with different graphics)

Aye its alot more expensives for us Brits since the enconomic crisis started, but its not exactly eve's fault. They haven't actually increased the prices. Though CCP should start charging GTC's and CC in ú aswell as $ and Euro. Or lower the prices to even out the effect of the economic crisis. |

See you in 2-3 years when LOTRO closes down. "Lifetime membership" doesn't mean YOUR lifetime, it means the game's lifetime. They calibrate it in such a way as to get about as much cash out of you as they could possibly hope to get out of you if you were a faithful customer.

Subscriber numbers have KEPT INCREASING even in this economic recession we're witnessing, in spite of the policies enacted by CCP which you keep criticizing. So, apparently, their policy is good enough, for now at least.
P.S. Why bother charging less if no other game comes close in long-term enjoyability ? |

But of course I fully understand your concern and agree that you should switch to LOTRO.
Apart from that I want to offer my services for disposal of your virtual belongings. Just contract everything to this character and don't forget to send the remaining ISK you have.

I think the price is pretty low actually. I paid 133 dollar for 1 year subscription, which makes it about 11 dollar a month. I think I can get 1-2 beers for that price.. And when we know CCP dont add anything for their expansion EVE online is a real bargain!

EVE costs $14.99 a month. LOTRO costs $14.99 a month. Warhammer Online costs $14.00 a month. Everquest II costs $14.99 a month. World of Warcraft costs $14.99 a month.
Yeah, EVE Online is really the most expensive of all of those games. |

To Akita T, there has in fact been some GTC price-fixing occurring. Prior to the whole 'world economic recession', you could get a 30-day for 150mil and a 60-day for 280mil or so. Economic recession thingy kicks in and we see South Africans paying R10.5/$1, where it was ~R7/$1 prior. That's a 50% increase. How did GTCs react?
30-day GTCs disappeared and 60-day GTCs went up to 450mil in price. 50% more than their previous price of 300mil. But wait! There's more! If you sift through the forum threads of old you will notice that the price gradually got pushed up by fake buy/sell threads, steadily increasing the price! Demand went up and supply went down? Rubbish - you couldn't have a thread up for more than a minute at the 'buying' price that these people had pushed it up to without it being filled.
So GTCs now sit at a toasty 600mil for a 60-day, on average. That's 100% more than they used to be.
That aside; can I have one of your characters? :D |

That's price adjustment, caused by external factors. "Price fixing" means something else entirely, and it certainly not appliable in this case. It would imply GTC sellers (or GTC buyers) have some form of agreement to sell at or buy only at certain prices - which is obviously not the case, there is no such bloc of people that have the power to dictate prices unilaterally. All GTC sellers try to get as much as possible, all buyers try to pay as little as possible. It's not price fixing, it's free market chaos. |

Hmm that depends on how long lifetime is, and if the game is any fun. When they start offering lifetime memberships it usually means the expected lifetime is short and that the game isnt really fun. |

You're neglecting the fact that people in europe have to pay with money which isn't the same value as monopoly money.
To the op; you figured that Eve costs to much and you can't justify it, I sympathise with that alot. But it wasn't worth a thread, in some magical forum where the majority weren't self-indulgent trolls it might be, but this is eve.
