**** no, we should jump on the euro whilst it's 1:1!
Increasingly my sentiments. I really hope it doesn't drop the other way.
On topic though, I do have to keep reminding myself that is not 1:1.5 anymore. But hell, thats just a few more tesco value items per month.

you know, when you resort to hyperbolic statements like this, you pretty much lose all credibility. 3 PCU's in a month (5 weeks?) broken and we have to wonder why "so many" people are leaving EVE?
if you mean you and your 2 alts, that doesn't count as "so many" people.

For all the bashing of the LOTRO lifetime subscription in this thread, all of y'all know that you'd love a lifetime sub option for EVE if there was no GTC for ISK system.
BTW lamarar - can I have your stuff? |

Wait... you're dumping 597USD on 3 LOTRO lifetime subs?
Considering that the average user plays for 9 months, paying what equals 13 months for a lifetime sub isn't actually value for money for most people |

Akita T, agreements need not have a visible representation to be made.
Ever heard of the concept of 'unspoken agreements'?
I have many times now posted on a GTC sell order thread, only to have the seller say they assigned the GTCs and that all the transactions (to myself and the other players on the thread) were completed; and yet, I magically never lost isk and never gained game time from the transaction, and the seller would promptly 'complete' their thread. Why might that be?
It smells like an attempt to make it look like people are perfectly willing to buy GTCs at priecs as high as 600mil, and that they are doing so in large volumes; meanwhile it's just the same people desperately trying to find an offer that's legit, whether they have to pay through the nose or not.
Back to lamarar;
So can I have one of your characters? Pleeeeeeeease? |

Its your fault for paying for three subs to the same ****ing game. Why not drop two of your useless cashcow alts, and instead, hire other players, Get your buddies to play, or get minions. |

On topic : In France, 2 packets of tobacco = 15Ç = 1 month of Eve. There was this guy who said one month = 15% of his month income... Mmo's aren't for everyone. (it's sad) |

Edited by: Darwin Duck on 14/01/2009 00:39:12 Same price as all the other MMO's. And in my opinion EVE is the only real MMO. In other MMO's you can't fight for terretories. In other MMO's there are no concequences for your actions. No other MMO has a real player driven economy.
Like the devs say. It's not a game, it's a simulated world, they only supply us with the rules and the tools to operate it.
Like it should be. Wish there were any landbased MMO's with CCP's mentallity behind it! |

I'm a college student with a less than part time job, so yea, it is a big expense, relative to what I make. although I hardly have any other expenses. probably bit less than gas, and about 1/2 to 1/3 of food.

If $15 is 15% of your income then you're managing to subsist on $1,200 a year. The guy must be living with someone who provides funding for all his basic services, because you can't live on that amount in the US on your own and not be in a tent city.

I use a US PayPal account to pay in USD. Seems to always be the lowest cost in terms of what currency is has less value compared to the others. At paying 6 months at a time, compared to WoW or LotRO, EVE is virtually free. |

EVE is the cheapest MMO i know of. Paid $0.00 for a year, that's even cheaper than $50 for Guild Wars for 4 years. |

I'm not sure anyone is knocking the principle, just the fact that someone is trying to compare a crappy, derivative, cookie-cutter licensed-property-cash-in P.o.S. game with EVE.
sure, LoTRO offers a "lifetime sub" to a game that it would be hard for anyone with more than a few brain cells to enjoy for more than a few weeks/months and sure, if EVE offered a lifetime sub i'm sure more than a few of us would take it, but trying to compare EVE and LoTRO is just a mistake. |

if it's the thread i'm thinking of, he didn't say where he was from (he said "anus of the world" when asked) but he did say that EVE was approximately 12% of the "average monthly income" in his home country. |

There is nothing that saves you money better than MMO's, no matter the cost. I remember when I was unemployed for two years straight with a really low insurance payout - think I could have had as much fun without eve and wow? Having 3 accounts is pushing it a bit but eve itself isn't overpriced at all if you consider the cost per minute of other RL stuff like going to the movies and/or taking girls out ^^ --- RBJ |

US-centric. Where did I say he lives in the US. He could live in a poor country, I don't know he didn't want to tell. And if he lives in EU (like Greece or East Europe), 15% = 15Ç, or $20. Fetchez la vache !
