Duh.... Yes?
No people are not stupid they just are not able to think further then their own little world. They think that everyone around them must be stupid because they don't see the world like they do, no mater if they are PvP players, PvE players, miners, buildiers or forum posters all of us have been and will in the future in some way or the other be guilty of limiting our views and ideas by the every day reality that we live rather then looking around us and seeing that there is more out there and our points of view might not be right.
So in short people behave stupid but that has nothign to do with stupidity it is simply because we are ignorant of the world around us. |

If people only were as clever as they think they are we would live in a much better world.
But probably I would not be playing Eve then but doing something more clever with my time - so being a bit stupid seems quite ok to me

I can answer this one cause I sometimes do this and I KNOW that I am making less money selling the minerals rather than the manufactured item.
The reason is because I like to make stuff, and the process of creating an item is more interesting to me than maxing my ISK returns. When I sell a ship, it still gives me a weird fuzzy feeling knowing that somewhere out there in that big EVE universe is some guy in a Tristan that *I* made. Maybe he's a pirate, maybe he's a noob upgrading to a new ship, whatever it is, he (or she) has it, and I made it, and knowing that is more enjoyable than squeezing out a few more meaningless ISK.
EVE is a game (for most people) so everything that people do is altered by the "fun quotient". This is why there are sooooo many *newbs* out there doing the things that don't make them the max isk/hour possible, because they would rather be having fun than watching their wallet grow.

Your maths fails because 100k is not 200% of 0k. You are saying that you are making 100% profit by mining 100k of minerals, but profit is defined as (sell_price - buy_price)/(buy_price) . You didn't pay anything for the minerals, so the buy price is 0. This leads to a divide-by-zero error, resulting in an undefined answer. Profit is meaningless unless it costs you something to make that money.
However, you are correct in saying that minerals should be valued at the sell price on the market. A good rule of thumb is to treat every operation you do (mining, refining, manufacturing, trading, etc) as a separate transaction where you buy the materials at market price, then sell the products back at market price. You don't actually need to buy or sell them, but pretend you are when calculating profits. If any operation makes you a net loss, then DO NOT DO THAT OPERATION.

IQ completely fails to take into account the various types of intelligence that we all have.
EG: an athlete who is capable of running a four minute mile. Typically, this wouldn't be considered particularly intelligent.
Consider, however, how difficult it is to make a walking robot that can do this (currently not possible). The fact is, that running very fast is a hugely complex mathematical problem, requiring a solution to many differential equations.
The human brain has to solve these equations (to some degree of imprecision) in order for any of us to run. Regardless of the fact that this occurs at a completely subconcious level, it is still requires a high degree of intelligence.
So, in terms of 'motor control' intelligence, an athlete is far superior to a rocket scientist. Obviously, the athlete knows sod all about rockets.
Can anyone say who is more intelligent than whom? ---- Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa*coughcough*aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrr!! |

also, This will be dealt with. YARRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Also as a bonus I will now explain several TCP/IP Internet layer protocols. Internet Protocol :IP: routes packets from sender to receiver. Internet Control Message Protocol: ICMP: handles information about IP-based routing and network behavior especially as they relate to traffic conditions and errors. And don't forget Packet Internetwork Groper :PING: checks accessibility and round trip time between a specific sender and receiver pair of IP addresses.
If you would like to know more, please feel free to eve mail me in game.

Whoa there champ, I think the OP is really copmmenting about the difference between people who HAVE a IQ...and those that actually USE their I!Q.
What used to be referred to in Ye Olden Days as the difference between "being stupid" and "be3ing a moron".
Being STUPID by that definition is someone who actually has a normal intelligence factor but simply does not use it - the same kind of idiot that'll toss a alcoholic drink into a lit fireplace simply because they didn't want it...and then are suprised when they get their clothes singed by the resultant fireball.
Being a MORON back then was being of subnormal intelligence - usually kept in "sanatoriums" for their own protection, as well as the protection of others.
Isn't it amazing how language has changed, even though people have not? These days, BOTH terms can refer to people who don't think things through before they act...the instinctive button-pushers, those who trust their autopilot, etc etc...

This reminds me of when the first brought out 'non breakable' bottles. My brother bought a pint of rhum, he was sitting in the living room and chucked it up in the air. Let it land on the floor. The cover split in two but the bottle did not break. All the rhum poored out.
That was not uninformed. That was just stupid.
Maybe its a mixture.. |
