This is a bit of a joke really. You have people whining about Incursions but we have this massive problem called tech moons, where alliances basically get billions of isk per month for holding a POS on a month. You have people like goons who have 100+ moons, PL have loads, Russian Alliance have loads. I mean Goons muyst be making trillions just from Venal alone! Its ridiculous. And can anyone take these moons? I mean average joe? can anyone even get a moon? never in a million years is your answer! Why yis it alliances as mentioned be allowed to bring 200,400,1000+ to fights with out ANY consequence? Becuase basically the insurance + the amount of stupidly high amount of free isk they make from their 100s of moons basically makes this completely risk free pvp.
When are you going remove those stupoid amounts of tech in Venal? When are you going to give everyone a chance to own these? I mean each alliance knows EVERY location of EVERY expensive moon. Drop 100 supers on to take it, and then drop 100 supers again should anyone even attempt to sniff the moon dust.
8 years in with eve and this is a major major issue now, wasnt so bad before but its wrong totally wrong, ppl whine about highsec bears this is 0.0 bears but 100x worse. Moons should be randomised or the output should be severely reduced and im mean severely like 75%.
Will CCP ever do anything? who knows sick of hearing 'talks' and playing a game that is now become saturated. I dont want a play a game that is controlled by just a few alliances. I am playing someone elses sandbox and mine is being controlled by someone elses. This game isnt really sandbox any more becuase they things you want to do are actually controlled by others. |

Yes, you can. You need to go out, grab a piece of null and hold it. Same as everybody else that wants a piece of it. You have the same opportunites as everyone else!
Or were you after a reward without having to work for it?

You gotta admit, the guy has a point. These are alliance/ coalition scale resources. How on earth can Frank and his 10 best mates expect a piece of the pie when they haven't got the man power to back it.
But then on the other hand tech is definitely imbalanced and needs seeing to.

I think he's referring to a dev stating that moons are isk "printing machines". Don't quote me on that though. |

The issue is that some alliances are so large and have the sheer amount of super and titans available that to fight would be unwise.
This does need addressing, Its a little like Microsofts Grand Duke Bill Gates. He has alot of monopoly in his field and the powers that be keep fining him and telling him that he cannot buy everything that poses a threat to his company.
I believe that tech moons should indeed be thought out alot better then it currently is. That's pretty much all you do in null...protect what's yours and roam when your bored. Do a few plexs maybe...
It needs shaking up, Null is stale like bread....it needs refreshing, toast that bread up rub in some garlic throw a few sliced tomatoes on there with a few slices of mozzarella under the grill 2 minutes done.
Empire - boring
Low Sec full of complete tw*ts who think they're tough but don't come to null because they like to camp care bears on gates.
Null - boring
WH - interesting but again needs some more flavour throwing on there.
I think CCP need to go back to the drawing board and get some new content to play with for there customer base.
Back on topic - apologies

You make it sound like one person is getting all the goo from the moons they have.
Also, You're more than welcome to go out and drop a pos on a moon and mine it. You'll need to work out if there's profit in it first though.
This is also doable solo although it's considerably easier if you have friends. |

Indeed. I can't claim a whole system in null just because I want it. I'll need to get some friends, try and take it off an existing group. Or perhaps organise a deal with somebody. Or work within the sandbox to try and achieve it.
What I should not do is come to the forums and bleat because somebody else was willing to put in the organisation and effort to get something and I can't have it

I mean look at Evoke, NCDOT, Raiden all very very established alliances wiht supers, titans etc all struggles to keep the tech moons in Venal, and its not come to a stage where there is a pact in place! So please GTFO coming out with get an army and go take a moon BS! So you acknowledge the fact that it took years for the current powerblocks to form and rise to where they are now. But you are somehow special and you want to be there right now without going through the same process.
Their "process" involved holding moons... which we can't take without going through their "process" which is holding moons.

How about a new rule, each corporation is allowed a maximum of 300 members and each alliance can only consist out of 4 corporations.
You can play around with those numbers, if you don't feel they're adequate, but it will make Null fun again ( i think ).
If there's a hard cap to how many players an alliance can have, there will be more alliances and more corporations fighting over the same space, making null something entire blogs are written about once again.
Right now ( so far as i can tell ), there's about 3 maybe 4 alliances that control most of null and a few alliances that control the rest off and on.
Those 3 or 4, are simply to big to take on. Once that's no longer the case.............. well, i think i said enough. Yes i am dutch, no i don't do drugs. |

That's an odd thing for CCP Soundwave to say.
When CCP Soundwave actually hates something it is REMOVED FROM THE GAME in one patch with no attempt to balance out the negative effects it will have on viability of whole regions of space.
You know, the Drone Mineral Nerf.
So it's really strange that he hates it but seems oddly powerless to actually get rid of it. Given his willingness to send the economy into chaos because "mining needs to be important because it does".

I still think think Soundwave's moon mineral roids is a silly idea considering there is already an existing mechanic that can take care of the tech moon imbalance. The existing mechanic I am speaking of is alchemy. Moon mineral alchemy is already a part of r64 moons, why can't the same mechanic be applied to r32 moons?
The r32 alchemy idea isn't mine and certainly isn't new, it was suggest during the CSM meetings with CCP. The only reason I can see why CCP hasn't already started implementing it is that they like the current situation as it is with Super Capital proliferation. They are still not ready to see the current large alliances leave their positions.
So its not so much CCP favoritism as it is keeping things stable the way they are instead of burning it all
Will the ring mining mechanic work? Yes, so long as it allows for the oversupply of moon minerals to the market so as to lower prices of minerals down to being near unprofitable in terms of moon mining.
I still think it would be quicker to implement r32 alchemy, no need to make an entirely new mechanic. |

There was once this bob alliance sitting on loads of prom & dispro moons. Some corps had people in it that were afilliated with developers of the game. They were sitting on this hugh amounts of promethium and dyspro mmons. CCP told that it isnt right to give big alliances valablue moon they couldnt take. So once this alliance called bob left the moons got "rebalanced'.
http://imageshack.us/f/64/naamlooskp.jpg/ From the screeny you can see that they made the rarest & most staked r32 moon the most valualbe moon. Lucky for some people that they had the most value cluster of techmoon in their region exept venal which is npc space. Those people were also lucky that the sov mechanics got changed with a true sec methode. Lucky them they were also sitting in the region with the most true sec in eve!! When we all know tech was a mistake at first, i dont believe ccp is willing to chnage it for unknow resons. Basic fact is that it is a bottleneck which was predicted before it was inplementent. Wheter ccp does this deleberately or dont read the 10,00th post on forum about this is the question..... ether way lucky goons having 65 moons that produce 9 billion isk each, a 585 billion isk free a month..... Thats 2/3/4 times avarage alliance income
Where 1 R64 moon makes tops 900 million isk a month does a Rarity 32 makes that 9 times!!!! |

Short for Technetium moon
Currently a technetium moon is worth more than 15 million isk an hour.
Therefore, a technetium moon is worth more than 8.6 billion isk a month.
This is passive income from selling the minerals to the markets throughout New Eden.
This income is created due to a bottleneck in tech 2 production in terms of the moon mineral technetium.
This bottleneck was made during the changes made in the dominion expansion even though the playerbase warned this was going to happen.
This bottleneck allows the formation of large power blocs around tech moons due to their income which is used to purchase/construct supercapitals to use in defense of the tech moons.
If you don't have a massive blob and massive resources to take on a power bloc you are likely to be curb stomped.
It is this situation that promotes the talk of changes to the technetium bottleneck. |

One thing that might help, is to introduce some new T2 ships / modules / drones that needs moon-goo that is NOT tech, at all. This will move some producers from the Tech-heavy stuff to 'other stuff'. Make 12 new HAC's, 8 new Command Ships, 4 new Marauders, T2 carriers, T2 dreads and XL Rigs for capitals and XXL rigs for supers.
Making it possible to build T2 salvage modules from T1 modules in a 'research' way would be nice.
Now, if they just 'tweek' so that these new ships mostly use none-Tech components, that will spread the love to other regions as well.
Then releaseing maybe 50-100 new T2 versions of 'Meta 6', modules, that have same 'effect' as the T2 Meta 5 items, but use other components, and less fitting requierments should ease the bottleneck somewhat, as well as cutting into the T2 BPO cartells.

hmm, meta lvl tech 2 is an idea worth thinking about more. Perhaps they could be tradeoff item, such as a meta 6 tracking computer having more tracking, and a meta 7 having more range type of thing, kind of like built in scripts. It would further the idea that tech 2 is very specialized, while more basic mods have more utility... And they could use another resource as you said. perhaps it could be a new tier of PI goods, so that anyone (in theory) would be able to acquire it, but it would take a fair bit of work and/or money. |

You do realise that a single tech moon makes around 10 billion isk a month right? Requires almost daily maintenance by a hauler, someone to fly it safely to where it can be used/sold. The space must be defended, patrolled, sov payed for, man hours of gametime fuelling and boring as hell silo maintenance right? You know all this because you know all aboue Eve yeah? Not to mention the warfare it took to gain that moon and hold it.
You also know that the income from however many tech moons is then used to pay for sov, pay for replacements in huge fights, pay for new upgrades, stations and teh general day to day running of a large alliance which is phenominally expensive. You know all this am I right?
This isk is used to support literally thousands of people.
A single player can easily make 20 to 30 billion isk a month running incursions, if he has the time. In hisec. Virtually risk free. No overheads apart from a ship. No responsibilities to look after anyone but his own wallet.
Yep, seems fair to me to say that nullsec alliances should be punished for making isk. Not as though they have to work for it or risk anything. Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

Im not whining in teh slightest, I make plenty, my corp makes a hell of alot of isk right here (no we dont have a tech moon..), I was just pointing out that technetium doesnt actually make that much isk in teh big picture, and it certainly doesnt create isk out of thin air like incursions do.

Trusec isnt great but hubs are very numerous so easy to do. I dont mine in nullsec but I hear you can make decent amount now mins are up and mining is coming back into fashion. Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

You know, the Drone Mineral Nerf.
So it's really strange that he hates it but seems oddly powerless to actually get rid of it. Given his willingness to send the economy into chaos because "mining needs to be important because it does".
And Drone Mineral Nerf was worse than a mistake.
It was removal of content.
Well, the main focus definitely seems to be getting rid of non industrial industry of the low/null materials. Back to needing a solid industry base to run large and high tech production. The moon minerals are simply too hardcoded to probably remove from industry so instead will be moved. Mining will likely end up being a roving system. The way described, it might also be safer since there will be scannable locations. Scanning requirements does give attentive groups time to hide.
As for the removal of drone poo, I did a bit on that here:

what is it 190 rifters every secone's worth of money generated by Goonie tech moons? a Titan every day and a half? https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1109909#post1109909

As for titans, they are subsidized but not (I think) straight-out paid for by alliance. There's enough rich people about to keep the CSAAs busy, or so I hear. Bringing blobs to tit-

I have but one problem with the current Technetium bottleneck.
It is not the regional distribution - different areas with different value are fine. It is not the fact that individals or small corps are not likely to have access. It is not that moons are passive income.
My problem is that the total output of Technetium in the universe is FIXED.
It is highly unlikely that someone will stumble over an unused Technetium-Moon, so basically this goo is produced at a fixed rate - if all towers are operational (and the rate is probably something like 25,000 per hour).
Now this output determines the MAXIMUM T2 PRODUCTION of the galaxy. And no one can do anything against it. The only way to save Technetium is to fly ships that need relatively small amounts. The production can't be increased.
Even worse: the more valuable the stuff is, the more likely conflicts will arise that put Tech-Towers in reinforced mode and reduce the production EVEN MORE!
I hope the upcoming changes to moon materials address this issue. Imo the moons could still stay as passive income sources for large entities. But there has to be another way to get this material, even if that means much more effort (at current price levels it would even be profitable to run a POS that can only extract 1 Technetium per hour!) Compare Technetium to Oil in the real world - once the price goes up, people can invent new technologies to get more oil - just they are not AS efficient. |
