only problem with that is that lasers chuck energy at very localised positions, so it'd never heat the whole ship up. and if you did that you'd have to look at the difference in heat application to a single point between pulse and beam lasers too....

I've flown neither of those ships, nor really used rockets BUT one would assume that if you can stay out of rocket range, (assuming you're fighting a rocket ship) and still hit your target, you'd be on to a winner.
