Offline POS != abandoned. Some corps choose to keep POSes offline for fuel reasons but still do use them sometimes. The only 'abandoned' POSes are the ones whose corps no longer exist.

I believe from what they said in the patch notes that that's what was causing all of the issues with overview when (un)docking and all of that crap. I think they're working on fixing it, but took it out for now because it was causing issues.

Well, with a copy of the ContactList API and a bit of parsing magic you can export them quite nicely. However, you can't import them the same way. So you could atleast export them and display them online for people to copy down.
