Hi, I'm Prism X!
Persistence is key in my opinion. You have to first get the interview before you can even start to worry about your own aptitude after all. Sometimes I think HR uses that as method of filtering... if you aren't keen enough to work for your interview, you probably aren't keen enough to work here in the first place.
But by the gods don't start taking the words of a Database Developer as some sort of bible on how to deal with our Human Resources department. I'm just relating my outdated experience with the subject. ~ Prism X EvE Database Developer Relocating your character to a cozy, secure container since 2006. Originally by: Righteous Gun i had a look at the open positions but i didn't see any mention of visa requirements. for the US for example, will CCP sponsor applicants without green card or is it a requirement to have one before applying?
Speaking from the US programming side of the house: Yes. For the right applicant, we will sponsor you and assist with acquiring a visa. However, we work closely with all of our offices. If we believe it would be better to have you in Iceland (or Shanghai), we may route you through those offices.
On a semi-related note, CCP North America is expanding!
We're looking for great programmers. If you have excellent technical coding skills and want to work with CCP in the US, I strongly encourage you to apply.
Below are three specific links to programming positions in our US office:

Edited by: TimMc on 22/07/2009 15:20:00 Question for the devs here: I went to the Atlanta office for a holiday and met one of you (only know real name). After meeting I tried via email to get in touch with someone through him about a placement sandwich year during my university course. Are these ever done and who should I contact? CCP uses alot of top of the line technology, and seems to ask for people with prior industry experience so I am expecting this question to be replied with a "no".
I'm starting my second year this september in BSc Computer Science in the UK btw.

I saw the internship on the ccp corporate pages, I would SO love to apply. If only my uni wasn't as small minded. The only thing they require is that I do my internship together with a group of students, and no luck trying to convince my fellow students that iceland is the place to go right now. Oh well, perhaps I can apply when I go for my masters. In preparation for this let me say the following positive points about myself:
- Will code for ISK and/or game time - Will sleep in cardboard box - Will bake [dutch]oliebollen[/dutch]
Come to think of it, ccp should offer a volunteer coding program. I'd happily sign a NDA with a few body parts as collateral. (ok that might not be legal)

Hmm,
I wonder if they have a need for a hired gun who is relatively incompetent with MPmorg UI interfaces, has slow twitch reaction and can give knowledgeable input on how to make the game more friendly to a larger cadre of games who can't Learn2play.
After all I'm sure they're teaming with people incredibly adept with computers and they very well could be clueless in how to think like members a much larger market of people who want to fight and trade but have slow minds and fingers.
I'm also sure that a game forum would be where human resources people hang out and hope to find a real mediocre person without the wherewithal or initiative to go take the basic steps of a job search. I guess posting here is really confirms my status.
You can contact me by looking up my account information.

Interesting.
What if the position is somewhat office independent and the applicant has a very strong preference for a specific office, but the position is listed in a different office?

Same here. The heat just makes my brain not work properly, I can't stand it. I'd rather be absolutely freezing and wearing an extra jumper than sweaty and overheating. I went on a holiday to Iceland last month expecting it to be nice and cool but the heat wave we had in Ireland followed me there >:|. Apparantly it was a record temperature so I imagine I got a pretty atypical view of what Iceland's like . It's a really beautiful country though, definitely worth visiting now that their currency is tanking and foreign currency is worth more ISK. Since I've come home to Ireland I haven't looked at the landscape here the same way.

From gathering a bit of intel I think it should be diclosed, that the main background needs for working with ccp seems to be an incredible ability to party and do office shenanigans.
The demands on resume and background is most likely secondary or a business PR scam.

You will find our job listings here. I'm specifically looking for experienced UI Developers and experienced Graphics Programmers to work on EVE Online in Reykjavfk, Iceland.
I judge CVs primarily based on related work experience and related education, including grades if there isn't a lot of work experience. (I will also look at the overall structure of the CV, organisation and clarity, grammar and spelling.) If shortlisted then you will be asked to take a programming test. If the results are positive then there will a first-pass phone interview, followed by multiple in-depth interviews with an interview team from EVE Development and HR.
A lot of people hired at CCP knew someone at CCP. The reason is simply that internal referrals are the most reliable referrals one can get. But a lot of people have been hired that knew no one, they were simply hired based on their outstanding qualifications and potential.

Good luck to all that submit resumes/cvs to CCP.
I too have BTEC, HND, BSc in computer Science.
Just because I would never want to work for a games company (This is where I come to relax, not work!), doesn't mean IÆm not interested in what happens in the process.
Do applicants have to do any aptitude tests? i.e. sit down and do programming****rcises ? I had to in all of my jobs. Funniest one was with Dr Solomons Aanti-Virus software, what a great company that *was* before it got purchased and removed by the competition :(

Edited by: Whitehound on 26/07/2009 22:57:15 Dear CCP,
I am the world's best games programmer. I am so good that I do not need any references or degrees. Really, I am this good. In fact, I am so good that I do not even need to apply for jobs but have people knocking at my door everyday and I need to give them a boot to get rid of them! Now, I have very little time as I am very very busy and therefore will I make this short. Can I haz a job? --
