I'm in Australia - so the patch was SUPPOSED to finish at 10:00pm on Thursday night. I can handle that - I work 5 days a week 12 hrs a day, so the only days I can play Eve with ANY hope of not falling asleep are my days off - Thu and Fri...
So I waited with anticipation until 10:00p - extended delay - what a surprise - new finish time: 3:00a... It's now 5:33a and it's still not working and I'm tired and heading to bed - Today is my wife's Birthday, so playing today isn't going to happen... Tomorrow I have to go to work again so to all those who say it's only a few cents worth - no - it's a whole week for me - 2 accounts @ $30au each roughly per month, so that's $2.00 per day - I'm out $14.00 not "a few cents" The least they could do is give us true estimates of down time so I don't waste MY time sitting here waiting, AND at least give us 1 day extra credit to our accounts.
Hey, I have a good idea, why don't you go **** yourself? Tired of these childish rantings from people like you. Why don't you go stomp your self-righteously indignant self down to a homeless shelter and lend a ****ing hand. You Ass wipe!! Or better yet, just hit yourself repeatedly on the head with a ball peen hammer.

People actually plan on playing on patch day? Wow is all I can say. That isn't a dig at CCP because quite frankly, they do the best job with respect to patching new content of any other MMO out there. Most patches go very smoothly and the few times that things have gotten messed up, people start losing their minds. Some people need to get out of the house a bit more...

Ok folks, let me try to explain this...
Today has been a very cold morning in Iceland. However every CCP worker was at his/her place at time to start with the patching process. Unexpectly the heater system was not working so they did call a technician (he was still sleeping) who told was coming to see what's going on a.s.a.p.
As usual CCP people had planned a big party to have place after patch. But due to that cold and heater failure some ones decided to have some drink to warm up their bodies.
That measure was quickly followed by the rest of them.
One hour later the woman in charge for cleaning offices did call to the place, toghether with the heater techinician, and they found CCP workers semi-concious and layin by floor mostly of them.
First they did call paramedics to get some assistance for them and secondly, and knowing the woman today was going to be the great day, to a local computers shop to get some advice.
The man from shop came quickly, and he was the one who managed to give us the first advice about the 2 hours delay.
Paramedics came to scene, by that time no body semi-conscious there, every one dismayed. And after a quick and initial diagnostice they thought no brain was goin to be back before 4 hours. So that was the second advice we got.
They decided to clear the area, moving all those bodies to a better place, and doing that job was when the cleaning woman, unwillingly (she said) pushed the button labeled "Chimp for AI tests cage door" freeing the monkey, who quicly started to do what monkeys are supposed to do.
In a couple jumps the monkey was sit down in a dev computer, typing, pushing buttons and looking to everybody like crazy.
From this side we had the feeling of some intelligence working in the other side, as suddenly the server was accepting players...
Rest of this story you know already...

Hey guys, did any of you is a programmer out there? I'm not really one, but I'm close to it.
And really, the number of f***ing bug that get out of nowhere and you wouldnt ever expected are always there AFTER the testing and usually in front of the people.
This is no more different. Oh yes, maybe... It's a lot bigger of what I'm doing myself...
Life a bug tracker: Correct bug A, function B get affected and need a correction. Correct bug of B, function C and D get affected. Create function E and F and correct C and D to get thing work. Modify A, cause it was using C and D. But now, cause of all that changes, Z is now broken. Love it, really!

You know, you'd think more people would get their heads out of their rear apertures and pay attention to the typical trend in gaming.
WoW - Every Tuesday, 7-9 hour long downtime. EVE - Every day, ~1 hour downtime. (Subject to the whims of the overlords)
So, if you look at the track record of EVE's total downtime per week, it's not only about the same as WoW's, but in many cases actually less. Couple with that the fact that we get free expansions, a single shard, 6 years worth of gameplay thus far, and you've already saved more money on one game than any one else.
Plus, this happens every time! Every patch, it takes longer than expected. If this is your first patch day, well, get used to it. It happens. Whining about how you've been wronged by 'the man' doesn't make the time go any faster.
Also... the sky is very pretty today. ====================================

The topic of a Refund or an Extra day for free.
You ppl rely need to lighten up, im mean c'mon. Do you ppl realy have nothing beter to do then bit@h and complain about a game that you have totaly no controle over. GET A LIFE !! !! Second IMO CCP should havethings like this planed out long b4 they ever decide to put out a new patch and i personaly beleave that CCP should fix the problems they have b4 adding new content to the game. However "I" dont have controle over the game and you dont eather. So sit back shut up and hope for the best. Adding to the refund Bolder-Dash, if you cant aford like 50 cents per day something is wrong. In some States you will give close to 2 dollars for a Sunday paper that you just gonna put in the trash 2 days later and here your gonna complain about 50 cents for a game. Grow up, get a job and stop complaining about something y ou have no controle over. If its that important to you stop playing the game and you can save your 50 cents for a weekly paper to get a job and pay for the game. I personaly have no problem with waiting for CCP to get thier head out of thier butt and realise that a bit of preplaning would be a good thing for something like this.

Thankyou for sticking up for me - don't worry - I reported the person insulting me here - I offered a genuine opinion in a non inflamatory manner - I appreciate there are going to be stuff ups and I simply offered my point of view on how it can affect some people more than others - and also - a way that CCP could make good on a few of what I perceive as mistakes.
Anyways - servers seem to be back up and holding - so Enjoy everyone, see you in a week or so.

Quick, lets condemn CCP and Eve for patch day trouble.
Anyone remember WoW's "Burning Crusade"? Only took months for them to clean up all the bugs, and blizz is still cleaning up after TWotLK expansion bugs.
Anyone played EQ2 the day after an expansion release? Almost always buggy and crashing.
Eve's expansions are 1. free, 2. normally implemented on time, and 3. not dedicated strictly to "endgame" characters.
With those 3 things in mind, I am more than willing to cut CCP some slack on patch day, and thank them for not charging us an extra 20-50 dollars for the expansion, as I remember expansion grief from other MMO's and realize that "This crap happens every expansion with every MMO."
To all of you who are quitting over this - Enjoy your other MMO, as you pay extra for expansion day hell, I'll laugh at you the entire time.

I agree completely, but me and several others had a plan to have a wild party at 19:00 Eve Time in a Freighter full of exotic dancers, booze, and illegal trade goods. Granted, I guess the party could've been planned for real life, but I don't think people's mothers would approve of their sons living in their basement while partying with a bunch of exotic dancers. So, because of the patching problems, everyone is late for their boozing and prostitution fun. CCP ruins everyone's fun yet again!
just joking around :p
It is only human nature to whine, to be inbred, and to care more about trivial matters than serious ones.

Thanks, just too late for a long gaming... ;P Btw, those meidum astrogeology rigs are really interesting. It actually sounds acceptable after thinking it for a moment. Who cares for medium rig? O yeah, all thank the beta testing (thank god they're actually doing something important instead of correcting some stupid mistake in spelling, what from only idiot would complain).

This must be the long-awaited mothership buff they were talking about.
So apparently you didn't read the news post about that change and what would happen? Though, maybe they posted that too late. Dunno, as I forget the date/time it was put up.

well patch day was today and all eve customers knows since years that a long skill has to be set and when they are lucky the server runs smooth, otherwise it can happen that the server is off for a day or if its worse it dont runs well for some days up to one week until the ccp guys comes with a hotfix. has already happen and every patch announcement means it can happen again or something new or different happens one day. i wait for the day the eve server gets aware of himself and reject the patch

Edited by: Aoi Hane on 20/08/2009 22:34:11 was the talked about pos mod for engineering broken salvage into whole salvage for t2 rig construction released? if so whats its name plz
Quote: 3. Salvage Conversion
Salvage conversion is something we have wanted to look at for a while. This is the ability to effectively fix broken salvage so it can be used to manufacture Tech II rigs. The most likely way this will be done is a through a reactor which will convert a quantity of broken salvage to fixed salvage in reactors which can be placed at high sec starbases.

Ok, I have not read any of the preceeding. So, what I am about to say may have already been said many times. And yeah it's a great game.
But . . . a big thanks for the LARGE EGRESS PORT rigs I now have to do something with, or sell for a pitance on the market (big demand for those), and for all my wonderful new LARGE researched rig BPOs such as LARGE PURGER RIG BPO. I'm sure someone will squeeze them onto a Drake anyway because the damn things have the overpowered tanks and sig radii of a BSs already, right?
