I wouldn't hold your breathe waiting for CCP to give you a reply or to reimburse for the lost ships. I have been getting nothin but bullsh** auto response for my petition concerning lost ships due to the excessive lag ( the kind to where you can do nothing for over 90 seconds but watch mobs shoot you and when lag lets up you have a pod ). Anyways thats been goin on since Exodus was released.. their Customer service is trash.. from a person that played EQ since release and DAOC.. it makes me sick to say someone has worse customer service but CCP is changin my mind on that :(
Lets see some people cant even do agent missions. so ok we will mine.. but than you can't mine because of bs bugs and issues......... so to the people saying just sit in a station ro dont play... I dont pay my monthly fee to sit in a station or to pay for a game I can't play.. get off your high horse and realize there's other people that play EVE besides you and some of them are having nothing but problems anbd issues since CCP released this riddled ***** baby expansion. NOW I WILL SAY EVE is a great game.. very special game compared to other online ventures.. and Exodus is great, least I think so. I love the content and changes but the way Exodus was released and how the problems are being handled is just a fu*** joke.
Now for the crashing issue.
I also use an ATI 9200 Well I lost another ship today... go figure ... but it was due to the constant locking up issue instead of lag this time. Either when I exiting a station, warping to and from area's or going to pan camera view. This happened quite a few times while panning.
I was mining today and rats popped on me no bog deal start firing off the heavies etc etc well I start laggin.. no nig deal. I go to pan camera so I can face down so as not to run into the lock up thing when warping.. well I lock up....... so ok I come back into the game to get out of there well my ship is almost destroyed no biggie I go to warp.. bam lock up again...... so I come back a 3rd time.. I am in a pod.... SHOCKER.............. so mighty ****ed off right now I would petition but thats a joke now isnt it..... so I say fk it and go to get my indy to come back and pick up my ships cargo pod and ore I am mining. Well I would say and bein honest it took me maybe 6-8 reboots just to get my damn indy back to my cargo.. and funny thing is my indy and all my stuff is in same system....... so to go from a belt to station and back to belt it took 6-8 reboots. Now thats just sad.
So bein ****ed off thinkin ya know I dont have to waste my money supportin BS service like this so I am about to cancel and I am thinkin maybe I will check this thread.. so I did and I tried some things and SO FAR everything is workin ok.. reffering to the lock ups.
So here's what I tried and I really do hope it works for some of you.
Mainly for ATI users.
This is what I am using and seems to work SO FAR.
Fullscreen 1024x768 16bit color 16-bit z-buffer NO BUFFER ( do not use Z or W.. change it to none ) 0mhz refresh ( or whatever that last option is ) Planet detail low
Its not the best for the game but it seems to be workin for me so try this and see if it helps ya out. I know how frustrating this is for yall trust me experiencing it myself... so hope this helps... good luck

Hi, my subscription runs till 31 Dec., so i give them a month till i think about cancelling...After all, it has only been a week since Exodus, so i'll give them some more time, luckily my old laptop seems to work, so i guess i can use it for the game :)
I've also been progressivly downgrading the graphics to get pas the lockups but for me it is a non-solution because once there will be more stress on the card, it will tend to lock up again, well probably later if the options are down but it's only holding back...
I just have the feeling it's this Z-buffer's fault, it hasn't been there on Castor and even when it's off, the Depth option stays, lowest is 16Bit you can't turn it off, but that's only me guessing *eyes this Z-buffer things suspiciously* *g*

Scratch my last offering.. It's not workin started locking up again :(
I did have it running in 800x600 when i first started tryin this ran very smooth np's and I had an increase in FPS. So maybe that has somethint o do with it. I only took it out of 800x600 because options on the sidebar wern't showing up in stations so I am going to try that again.. run in 800x600 in space and before undocking and 1024x768 when in stations.
Will let yall know if that works or not.

Ok think I have a temp fix but you won't like it !
Refer to my first post this thread page 4 for settings.
Ok heres what ya do. This has worked for last 45mins or so. I did a total of maybe 12-15 jumps back and forth went into 4 stations or so np's no hanging up no locking up no nothin.
Go to your CCp folder than open up the Cache folder than open of the Preferences pad. ( gold icon on a note pad )
Inside the preferences pad I changed the screen size and somethin else but forgot what but pasted what mine looks like.
buffersize=80 debug=0 decimal=. desktopHeight=600 desktopPrimary=0 desktopSetup=0 desktopWidth=800
Now with that said when I login and go to char select screen I changed it to window mode, and make sure it says 800x600 screen siz. *note* I am using the prior settings from above post also.
Ok ingame heres what I do and its working like a charm although IT SUCKS to have to do this but its working.
I enter game and hit alt-enter to get screen to look halfway decent. Window sizes are messed up and such and it surely should not be what it should but it works. I play like this and am having np's.
Now when I dock into a station things change abit cause options on my side bar dont show up things like ships button items button etc etc...... So I hit alt-enter again.. sometimes this does not work I get a white screen inside the station where my ship and side bar should be.. so I hit ESC to bring up options menu and I change it from windowed mode to fullscreen mode and BLING BLING all is good.
Now I noticed after my last post I left it like this than went back out into space and eventually shortly thereafter I ended up locking again and etc etc more cuss words.
So this time around before I undock I merely change it back to window mode and lose those lower buttons on my side bar since screen size has changed but since I am about to undock they wont need to be there anyways.
It seems to be workin for me I am thinkin like some people have stated its the Z-buffer thing or merely a FPS issue. Running EVE like this sucks but its freeing up FPS for me and I havent crashed YET.. so I am holding my breath.
ALSO a side note.. I noticed I only encounter this BS in Tash Murkon area. When Exodus first launched I was in Rens/metropolis area doing my missions and I dont ever recall locking up like this. Now that I went back to my mine spots and such anytime I am in the Tash Murkon area I am locking up when warping docking undocking panning. Post if any of you are encouinter samething in these area's.
ANyways hope this ghetto fix works for yall..... if you cant understand my jibberish evemail me ingame and I will try and rexplain it there for ya.
Make sure though its in 800x600 mode even when ingame to me I think this is one of the things that helps. It sucks I know but its working
Good luck !

Ok been playin ever since I posted this and its workin like a charm so for those constantly locking up try this seems to be workin for me.
Like I said need me to re explain how to do it just lemme know via evemail and I will help ya out np. Its irritating havin to change the windowed/Fullscreen deal and alt-enter to change up the screen but it works and allows ya to play with np's or least for me now.
Good luck

I seem to be getting the same problem, i run windows me on my pc and have an ATI radeon 9200 card installed, like everyone else, the problem only surfaced when exodus turned up, tried to install the ati catalyst driver but that turned out to be fruitless...
all i can find in the error log is this:
: triui.UIWindow: Window dot (0AC39A70) destructor called before being Closed 116 : triui.UIWindow: Window shadow (0AC43020) destructor called before being Closed

Edited by: skothk on 02/12/2004 11:43:18 It's great that CCP have fixed a large number of game issues with the patch being deployed today, but i see nothing about the problems being suffered by us ATI Mobility users.
It would be good if CCP had a check list of all the known problems they are dealing with and an expected fix time frame. At least we would know they aware of the problem and are doing something about it.
Space is full of black holes and we are left sitting in one!! Throw us a fecking bone here CCP !!

Going to try a few more times, but may be this problem has been fixed????

Dont know if latest patch helps solves this or not but my above fixes seem to have done it for me. Played for well over 4 hours last night and never had an issue.
Worse comes to worse try it... the main trick I think is running in 800x600 but never had that option in screen sizes ingame so you will have to manually do it through preferences in your ccp/cache folder.

I have I think the same problem. Running a ATI 9700 card. Worked fine before Exodus. Randomly when I exit the station I get a blank screen. I can see nothing. I have to hit Esc, which brings up the menu, and then exit the game. One time it crashed out to the dekstop before I could do anything.
Seems to me the thing in common is ATI cards. Well well I guess the money CCP makes per month doesn't go to QA. They must leave it up to users to get free QA testing. Not sure how this problem could be in our nice "free" upgrade to Exodus for one of the most popular line of graphics cards. This is a classic example of releasing buggy software. Not like it's a hard to find bug. Undocking is a common task that should have been caught in testing.
I have been playing for 3 weeks and am still under my 30 day free trial. So far am impressed with the depth of the game but from what I see so far and have read there are too many bugs in the game in which we are forced to upgrade each time if we want to play. Unlike other online games. This is the disadvantage of MMOG's. I will not pay between $10-$15 a month for a game which I can't use some of the time because of bugs. No thanks. If I was renting a home and they told me I couldn't use it for 2 days a month I would expect reimbursement for the time I couldn't use it. The phone company will do this and so will the cable company. Why not CCP and other online pay places? Force these software makers like CCP and others to make a better product and not use their customers as testers and guinea pigs for sloppy work.

HELP US CCP!! GIVE US A CLUE OR SAY YOUR WORKING ON IT!! Same problem, i've had to run in window mode so that i can exit when the lock up occurs. But recently the lockups have ceased and the game just shutsdown entirely upon pressing undock button. Running ATI radeon 9200 256MB with latest drivers. Please someone help! this is really killing the enjoyment of the game for me as the constant logging in is getting on my ****. PvP is no longer valid and hauling ore sux even more now.
