I agree that the 'sun occluded by ship' setting reverted back to on after I patched. I fortunately noticed this and turned it off and I havent once had this problem with undocking that you guys are describing.

I went into prefs.ini and serched for "sun", when I found the setting I made the change. I've noticed a few times, even with the prefs.ini setting and the 'esc' screen both having sun occlusion turned off I STILL GET SUN OCCLUSION! You know what happens when I still get it? The game crashes when I try to warp away from a station.
BTW, for those of you who don't know what sun occlusion is: It is a graphic feature which makes the sun fade, and be blocked out if you move the camera so that your ship blocks the sun. It's really pretty when it works, but from day one sun occlusion has caused problems for many vid-cards. Even vid cards that have no problem with it get a frame rate hit with it turned on.

Originally by: Cpt Angus just out of curiosity has anyone tried downloading and installing the full build instaed of patching upto date?
Yes. I have just done that. Then I logged in, did three jumps, undocked three times, and put a few items on the market. So far so good. Decided to visit another station, undocked, turned on the autopilot, sat back to enjoy the view and guess what? Yep, you guessed it. Damn thing froze up AGAIN. So, a full reinstall (not just the patch) makes no damn difference. This latest version of Exodus can be described in one word. CRAP. Plain and simple. This player ain't gonna renew his subscription while this issue is on-going. Come on folks. Vote with your feet. If lots of subscribers threaten to leave maybe CCP will give us some info on what they are doing about these glitches. That'll help a little. All we want to know is that they are aware of the problems and are on top of the job. Their silence just makes things worse. Or are they having serious issues with this and can't fix it? Enquiring minds want to know...

I am also having the same problem... Game freezes every 5-10 min for 20 seconds or more. Even Alt-Tab doesn't work and every now and then even mouse cursor freezes. When I was running the game in full screen I had to reset my PC a few times. Running it in windowed mode helps a bit - after 20-30 seconds I can usualy switch to Task Manager and kill EVE and not have to reset PC.
Never had any problems until Exodus came out. All other programs run normaly. Just EVE has problems. Basicaly the game is unplayable. And it's not lag since it also happens in station (with station environment switched off). Unless ofcourse EVE freezes when it's waiting for some response from server...
Well, I have 2 months left on my current subscription and if they don't fix it in that time I'll stop playing. It's sad to have to leave a game you like(d) so I hope they find the problem.

Allaina, I belive you are 100% correct, that sun occlusion has to be the cause of the problem.
I did a little testing and noticed that if the sun is in view, and I try to warp, it locks. If I'm already warping, and the sun just starts to come into view, it locks. I end up hitting <CTRL> <ALT> <DEL> which brings up the W2K options for lock screen, etc. When I do this, I can still hear the game warping, etc in the background. As long as I switch back to the game when the sun is not view, it works.
I edited my prefs.ini file, and added the line sunOcclsion=1, but that still does not seem to make a difference in game.
Any more ideas?

This Forum is being more than helpful trying to come up with answers. All the suggestions and possible solutions to the problem are highly commendable and most welcome. I thank you all. But aren't we missing the point here? It is not OUR problem. It is THEIRS. We are paying customers for a service that we are, quite frankly, not receiving. It is up to CCP to solve the problem ASAP as I am sure they are well aware of. From all the posts on this topic it becomes obvious to me that there is nothing wrong with our computers. Nothing at all. There is a fundamental fault with the 3007 patch. That is now abundantly clear. This is a fine game. I enjoy it immensely as thousands of others do. So PLEASE CCP, fix it will ya?

Beeing a Software Developer myself ( not Games, but I think this is correct for the whole dev's community ), I like the Eve-Community espessially ( how this word is spelled ? ) for the constructive forum-topics and replies.
I have more-or-less the same prob, but my graphic card is an ATI Radeon VE ( so not supported in general ).
But anyway, the constructive Posts in this thread are the best signs for a great community.

I have the same problems, yesterday over 30 crashes with Radeon 9000 and Omega 2.5.36b... but i was lucky, no losses so far.
So we have the following proposals: - install the latest full version of eve client - install the latest omega drivers - disable 'sun is occluded by ships' - use the Alt+Enter workaround
I'll try a few things and report my results here. I'd like to hear a word from CCP about this - it's just impossible for a pirate that the client keeps crashing!
