Try this........
Soon as ya exit a station pan the camera so you are looking down.. should free up FPS and than coast like that for a few than try warping or doing whatever.
I exited a station 10 times today and crashed probably 10 times so started tryin that and it seems to be workin better now for me.
Hope that helps

I'm having the same problem. I have a Radeon 9200.
I noticed that the game just crashes to the desktop instead of freezing when in full-screen mode. That makes it a lot easier to log back in.

Edited by: Wuubaa on 27/11/2004 12:44:05 Yep same problem here. Running ATI 9000 mobility. Up to date drivers. Usually happens when i go to warp after exiting station.
Tho i did start trying the "letting it fly for a bit" trick and it seemed to not crash. Only undocked twice tho.

This seems to be driver related to me. Since most of you have ATi cards running on labtops and we all know how often laptop manufacturers upgrade their drivers I would like you to try out the drivers available here <http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atidriv%20mobility.htm>. These drivers are modded specifically for the mobility cards so they might help. /Cheers

Do you have a solution for those of us who aren't using laptops? |

Well...just went to ATI's site and grabbed an update for my Radeon 9100. I undocked from my home base and it was successful ( think it's the 1st time i didn't lock up undocking from that station). Further testing required, but it's off to a good start

Well, I have almost the same problem. It seems that I freeze completely (until I started playing in windowed mode it was to the point that I had to reboot, I couldn't even CTRL+ALT+DELETE) every so often. It's not right after undocking, sometimes I undock and make two or three jumps before freezing, but it seems to happen most often shortly after I dock for a short period of time and then undock and go on somewhere else. This is a pain for courier missions of course. It seems I already have the latest drivers for my ATI Radeon IGP 345M (I checked the site linked to and the only thing I could find was a downgrade). I'm hoping there will be some fix for this that doesn't involve updating drivers because if there isn't I'm totally screwed. ----------------------------------

Hello, i tested a bit more, it seems that windowed mode is the best work-around: *it *only* crashes to desktop, doesnt freeze the whole system
*If i fear a crash, during transit for example, i can always minimize the window, which works fine on my laptop, so no crashes then
Also, after leaving the station (where i had most of my crashes), turn the view to open space, as a few mentioned here,...or you can zoom out which also seems to ease the workload after undocking...
One last thing and this is only pure speculation, the graphics menu got extended by letting one choose the Z-buffering and the depth, does anyone know what that is for, just *maybe*, Radeon cards have problems there?
Something else i noticed, but also purely subjective, is that there seem to be less crashes when the workload on the servers are less, maybe the bug is a mix of latency and the graphic, luckless combination?
OK, just my thoughts
