And from which corner have they to start etc.

Not meant to be offensive but even Kil2 doesn't sound as enthusiastic as he was last tournament. Is it the early wake up time? It's probably just me having watched too much "HEY EVERYONE IT'S H TO THE USKY HUSKY HERE!"

In round 2 are all losers in one bracket and all winners in another bracket? Or is it that teams with the closes number of points are paired? Or how does it work?

Do you think that, at 179m each, the Tengus are being undervalued, as including subsystems they can be around 400m?
The figures for the Panda v Brick match make the Machariel look much more valuable compared to the Tengus than I think it is.

I noticed in the brick vs panda team brick was launching missiles 1 at a time so it was a constant stream, any advantage to this over just firing them all at the same time?

Its all a matter of the kind of damage you want to do.
Fireing them one at a time gives you the constand "DPS" you dont get when you fire them all at the same time and "ALPHA" strike. the overal damage done to the ships is esentially the same the difference is how you aply it. In my experience DPS'n someones ship counters RR and local reps where ALPHA strikeing seems to tear threw buffer tanks faster. Especially shield pasive regen tanks like drakes have.
Also if you have enough ALPHA you can kill a RR/local tanked ship befor the tank can repair it all and same goes for DPS on a buffer tank. With enough dps a buffer tank can seem to just melt.

several times you declared artillery was being fired off of some projectile battleships, i.e: BANE's tempests and a machariel a match or 2 earlier.
if you know of a way to shoot artillery with a 3 second rate of fire, please share it with the rest of us...
also: "that loki doesn't seem to be using any ganglinks.." anyone who's played with a loki knows that that's what the armor tank defensive subsystems looks like. try to fit a gang link to that...
some of the commentators don't sound like they've done any pew pew at all for a long long time.
ccp: next time just clone kil2, or pay crovan to come back.

Aside from that, how many alliances do you think submitted flagships with no intention to use them? With the hope that their opponents will fit to counter a flagship (or at least have to be prepared for one) that may not even exist...

It's a very sharp and piercing sound, was like that last year as well and guessing he sounds like that on their own comms as well :P
It's not really his voice, it's either a crappy mic or he has turned the boost up too high, i'm sure he has a lovely voice once tuned in properly... And he is one of the few with a clue when commenting.
And if you hear a lot of people complaining about it, there must be something wrong.

Because during a match, they dont even announce the ships in the same order that WE see on the live stream.
They even sometime, say that they dont know what happen even if the camera focus was on the ship that just blew up ?
So my main concern is: what are they looking at ? Do they have at least 2 computers for different point of view (if not the case, could be a not so bad, idea) or juste the live stream with target made by CCP Claw ?
Oh. And srsly, difference between armor and shield tanking ? Really ?

-DISTANCES and PLACEMENT. And arena boundaries. A Loki that get instapopped by the GM is a LOT more important than the 16th logistic "in low shields"....
-speed of ships
-what kind of turret some ships have
-ammo used (easy to see with missiles or lasers, when you can control the camera...)
-general tactics. (Only when you have a clue about what you're saying...)
Please comment less :
-ship types : we can see them (better than you, I guess !!!!]
-EHP : we can see them as well
-armor or shield tanking : don't repeat 10 times the same lame "Drake in low shield. And as anyone know [then WHY do you say it ffs ?], a Drake is dead when it has no shield" [And don't say it when you're talking about an ACTIVELY REPPED Scimitar, that's just plain wrong.

For at least the preliminaries we're all sitting on our home pcs with the same view as you would have were you to be cloaked 100km or so away from the fight. We don't see what the studio camera is doing as far as switching angles and such is concerned and have no idea what it's focused on. If we used the view from the stream it would cause problems because there's a 15 second or so delay. We also don't have the nice neat target breakdown that separates the team's ships on either side of the screen like you see in the stream, which can lead to some confusion and it can take some getting used to.
Insofar as the shield and armor tanking issue... someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the tournament is not just for super duper eve pros. I'd hazard a guess that quite a few people watching the tournament don't understand the differences between shield and armor tanking. Our goal is to ensure that we're providing as much educational information as possible because there is a large audience spread across multiple levels of Eve knowledge. While you may personally know the difference or some of the more obvious vet things, there are a whole lot of people watching the broadcast who will not.

Fine, explain it two times a day, but PLEASE don't do it every 20 minutes for every match and don't explain that shield tankers have no armor or hull each time one of them is falling, all the more when it's an active tanked ship.

I appreciate any commentary but I personally I would like to hear more of how the commentators would fc.
I would like it if once the ships are lined up the commentators would not only read the ships (which we can do ourselves) but tell us which are close and which are at a far range. (which I can't always tell)
Also talk about what they would do if they were fcing the fleets. What might some key goals be or some weaknesses that can be exploited and how they would try to do that. I realize they don't have allot of time to find out what the fleets are and they won't be perfect. Nevertheless talking out loud and letting us know what strategies would be considered and why they would be rejected or accepted would be great. What to primary first and why. Are the ships all going for the primary or are some ships tackling a larger ship to keep it from the fray? Sometimes its hard to tell from the video feed. If the commentators knew this and let us know it would be great.
We can after all see what ships are taking damage so there is no need to announce that.
Don't be afraid that some of the commentary will be over the head of beginners. That may actually sell them on the game because they will learn there is some complexity and strategy to the game that is not obvious.

I can't speak to the exact instances you're referring to, but I know that when we had this issue last year it was due to bonuses. Bonuses are reapplied when you change sessions. For example, when you're in a fleet and you jump through a gate you'll notice that the bonuses are reapplied and you will seem to have a chunk of missing shields every time you go through a gate. The same applies to capitals when you make a jump.
So when the ships are moved from wherever they are the ship's shields are at 100% when moved WITHOUT bonus, then the bonus is applied which causes the bonused portion of the shields to be missing.

How come none of your commentators know anything about the rules? That team that fielded 91 points were trying to use the "intentional handicap" rule, so if they win with 9 points less, they would get 9 points extra. In the same way, fielding 91 points do NOT mean the other team gets less points - they immediately get those points anyway without even killing anyone for them.

Commentators, why don't we see a lot of Command Ships? So far we had the Damnation last weekend with its incredible tank, but are they not used because of points to field them? or are the fleet bonuses from gang modules not worth it?

Since people like to fly at the station cams and shoot each other lets make something out of it. Heres an idea. To add carnage to the tournaments why dont you add a competition to find the station cam. For each day the tournaments goes the station cam will be put some where new like a low sec or 0.0 station, the system to be displayed, and every one rushes to that system and the one group (as it'll be fleets running there more than likely) that secures it by the end of that day gets a prize at the end of the day like isk. let me what you think, i think itll be a great idea since people hide in stations and undock at the end of a match just so they can have every one see them on evetv, you know spice it up a little.

There are 2 rules in effect regarding relative points:
If you bring fewer than 100 points, the other team gets the points you don't field by default.
If you bring fewer points than the opponent does, and you win, you get the difference in the two teams points added to your score.
So if both teams do an intentional handicap to 81 points, they both can win up to 100 points (19 points by default, 81 for killing the other team, 0 handicap for even teams).

hmm have you not seen the claymores/sleipnirs + nighthawks so far? (the shiney cyclone + ferox lookie-likies)the gang bonuses do make a marked difference on speed + shield hp for example not to mention the local bonuses can make them very useful for damage (in the case of the gall + minmatar CS's)

1) Please stay in the tact overview as much as possible, much better....when the camera is jumping around with close up shots between ships its meaningless
2) Please enter the arena ealier...so we can have a few minutes to process what is on the field, the camera coming on 15 seconds before the match begins is not enough....commentators barely have enough time to say the name of each ship before one of them is blown up!!

would it be possible for the commentators to go over 1 ship hull per match in detail, i.e how many high's mid's low's and what use it normally takes in small gang pvp and how it normally might be fit out.
After all people like kill2 and verone have a mass of expierience with this kind of warefare and i bet they can give a really good insite to how these ships are used for the newer players who are watching the tourney and might not know what each ship is used for or does.

Why do we not see more of the anti drone? Was asking when they started shooting this most recent map. Things like putting a smartbomb in utility high slots on BC's and BS. Those flycatchers probably could have eaten the drones fast. Could having a couple antidrone specialists make the difference in getting rid of logistics or removing alot of drone dps?

Is it just me or do teams bringing T1 cruisers have a higher than average propensity to lose? Maybe excluding Blackbirds, but it seems as if any other role filled by cruisers can be better filled by other ships for the points involved.

just look at what kind of sensor they have. every ship has a sensor that says what it is, and al ECMs jam a certain kind of sensor. The "racial" i nothing more than a particular race using a type of sensor.
tl:dr ships use a given sensor, use an ECM to counter that particular ship.

dear kil2: cvas "frigates" were actually destroyers, that killed the bombers, that won the match. they didn't "do nothing". thrashers are really great.

You see a lot of dedicated jamming ships (rook, kitsune, etc) but never dedicated damp ships (arazu, lachesis, etc), even though the use of jams vs damps seems split pretty even. Why?

I have two questions that hopefully are interesting enough to air on TV.
First question,
I see Kil2 in particular check his screen sometimes but also other commentators do this, how are their clients/computers setup? Can they sit in their channels and chat while they are doing their work, and kinda get support from mates who are also watching the feed or how does this work? I remember Kil2 getting some support the first weekend I believe.
Second question,
I would like to know how the commentators think that the higher amount of fielded faction ships change the way the matches turn out and how the actual gameplay is different for the players in the arena. Does these new loudouts make conventional counters ineffective? The passive missile spam setups was crushed in first weekend for example, and hasn't been used that much since.

unreal, a buffer hasd limited HP but is able to take a pounding and stand up to it for a while.
however an active tank can rep back up and has unlimited HP, but once its hit with mroe DPS than it can tank it doesnt stick around very long :)

i think that would be crazy, the 10 ships makes the different alliances think about how they would most benefit from using their own skills, and the capital ships would make a slug fest, as the carriers would have too much rep, they would counteract the rule of no dual logistics.

I am wondering if there is a place in this tourney for Myrmidons. I have seen a couple but they haven't done much, nor have had much comment on them. Reason i ask is because I am a Myr pilot, and see a few roles they can be used in for pvp, but with everyone yelling at me that only Hurricanes and Drakes are pvp ships; I want validation in my ship choice.

Why dont teams field ships for remote ECCM, tracking links or other remote bonus ships you could use indutrials for or other multy mid slot frigs / destroyers.
Looks to me like some teams really get B*tch slapped hard by the lack of this.

Why haven't we seen any Faction frigates and cruisers? A lot of teams seem to go for the t2 or pirate versions of BS and Cruisers, or pirate frigates (Dramiel or Daredevil), no real Empire faction ships. I'd love to see a True Hero in a CNHookbill.

We've seen alot of armor based setups with Bhaalgorns as the main platform, supported by either an Oneiros or Guardian.

I don't understand why all the talk about the target painters. Only torpedos really require the target painters really. Heavy missiles already have a sig radius well below Battleships, Battlecruisers, and even Cruisers. Really, tackle is needed more to slow the enemy down sub ~600mps (if i recall correctly, damage starts dying a lot above that speed)
Another question:
Why aren't you talking more about the poor target calls. For example with the Triple Mach and Single Bhaal setup vs the sleipnir, hurricane, and tengu setup- The last Machariel was dying and they started shooting the shield tanked tengu over the shield tanked Hurricane.... The Cane has a lot more DPS, a much less tank/effective hitpoints. It was a race to kill the incoming damage before the Mach died, and the target call of the Tengu over the Hurricane doomed them. Damps wouldn't have played a factor as the Tengu is way longer range than the Hurricane. Essentially target calling like this doesn't make sense to me.

What do you guys think about the use of revamped artillery in the tournament, or lack thereof? In my experience on TQ it's great for volleying cruisers such as recons or logis, but it seems that tracking issues are preventing their use in the tourney. Thoughts?

Are you guys gonna sell those Faction Plaques behind you? :P i'd pay good money for em of their real metal.
Also, Will there be a handicap against Matari faaction ships? I feel they're overused and frankly overpowered for these close range tournies and to be honest, it gets boring. The only way to win with anything else is for it to be a complete surprise (Hull tanking Kroni [plural Kronos], Blaster Caldari, and pure Amarr faction and sub-faction setups and etc), but then it only works once and then you go back to your Matari setup.
Personaly I think it would be better if there were more Caldari and Gallente pirate faction ship models. You know, we have the Guristas and Sansha's Nation ships that are completely different from the standard models. Caldari and Gallente Pirate factions are the same model but with a different skin/paintjob. Will there be new additional models added for them?

I've noticed that the commentators seem a bit less enthusiastic this week than previous weeks, perhaps because they are camera shy.
I'd much rather hear the excitement in their voices than see on screen the actual people.
Usually I'm glued to the screen, but this weekend doesnt seem have the same energy to me. But still a great tournament:) |

What do you think about EW tactics in the future of EvE specially in bigger fleet fights.
Far far away in the past we had a lot of EW in fleet fights but today the DPS and EHP is more important for the most pilots specially in fleet fights. Also the TP and TD are more important for the most then Dampeners or Jammers. How is the future for the Dampeners and Jammer in fleet fights?

A) Their pvp abilities are useless
B) The colour of the ships are not pretty
C) Gallente dont have real e-war ships (why putting damps on other racial ships instead of taking racial gallente with bonus?)

Dunno if this was asked but why didn't anyone emntion anything about the lag monster yet? We got all these "super elite pvp groups" participating, we got "pvp experts" sitting in the studio, but none of them seem to have heard of lag... ever.
The lag. T h e l a g. Why is it there, why can't CCP fix it, why won't they monitor TQ for lag (big fights are announced to them), why do GMs make silly decisions when lag is concerned, why, why, why? Lots of stuff to talk about, lots of answers need answering.
Also "database issues" will not cut it...

The size of the arena is only a 50km radius from the warp-in beacon, combined with the tracking penalties with LR turret systems.

A while back (when the T3s came out) there was some discussion about giving pilots the ability to target specific systems on an opponent's ship. Has CCP given this any further thought? Do you consider this a viable option over what is already available on TQ?

So, is this another stress test? Because, as much as AT is interesting, shouldn't you be a bit embarrassed to ask us for this kind of action, knowing all the failures TQ has provided the community and CCP due to lot of players being on it at the same time?
Would be lot of fun if big 0.0 alliances could bring large fleets to the AT8 system and crash the AT node :P just to make a point.

and what type of screen are they watching, as i dont think they are watching the same screen as we live feed watchers are?
and maybe a stupid question, really but why isent the local chat feeded as well, just so we have the option to view it ( as i have no idea, which system the tournament is held in, and apparantly sometimes there are said alot of funny stuff there) ;)

I'd like to know if pirate implant sets are being fielded even if only for the flagship pilots.
looking at bhaal, vindi vs nightmare, mach and rattler
without a crystal sets the nightmares arn't realy gonna shine
as both a vindi and nightmare pilot i'm suprised at even the flagships not tanking as expected.

why not fully automatize alliance tournament, and make it a pirate NPC ran event in lowsec (for example on a weekend basis)? With pirate faction LP as rewards.
would be a cool boost for lowsec.

Have to say, whichever **** is responsible for the at8 live feed needs to get his face slapped a bit.
I had perfect feed before, was able to watch in high def the matches before 18:00 break, now the quality is probably medium or low, the feed is breaking (THANK YOU THE **** ALOT), and I don't even get the option to choose the quality level.

You metioned that I panic'd on our match v pl... due to damps i had lock range of less than 35k at the point when our tacklers were tackling the scimi (which was at 50k), so was unable to lock anything outside that range i repped anything that i could lock, please b4 smacking a pilot consider "why" rather than just saying "he must of Panic'd". We notice the use of many different ship types from different races utilizing autocannons in the final stages of the tournament Is this due to there tracking or damage output?

Question: Will scanning ships/probe scanning ever get a UI redo? Will there ever be an option to "launch all probes" instead of hitting the damn button 7 or 8 times to get them all out so you can start scanning?

Are you guys thinking of doing something with afk cloakers? You know the ones that cloak in a system then go to bed the remainder of the day. I thought the game was to be more agressive more active?

second question, why are NPC factions unable to utilize drones against players? My impression on this would be a more realistic PvP style combat for PvE players that would make the game more evenly balanced for both mission running and ratting.

I must assume that CCP Claw is flying a Vexor, due to his ability to kill anything. Therefore, I must ask why is no one else picked up on the Vexor's awesomeness and fielded an entire team of Vexors?

Or if because there so advanced, could we take the World of warcraft approach, and to create a Jove Char we need to Convert it from a Character with a Minimum ammount of skillpoints?.

the commentators were speaking about large fleet fights/cap fights and i'm curious to get an honest response:
Do you think there is an issue with lag (i.e. the fight in 6nj8-v the other week), and if there is (as i beleive) what does ccp plan to do about it? I'd rather not see system occupants capped, but it's better than being helpless to system lag.

I have seen in my time playing a resemblance in the ship classes to that in Homeworld and Homeworld 2. Did that have any bearing on ship classification, or am I just crazy.

what about Mining as a profession??? seems to me I am being pushed to 0.0 and since this is a sandbox game this should NOT be the case, I don't PvP and I don't run Missions I mine and trade so what about us???
with this last expansion my profession has taken a huge hit and dont even know if it will be worth mining in the future.
So please ask them What about Mining as a Profession is it dead?

If you had a Jovian ship, would they be allowed to be used in the tourny, and if it was allowed, how many points would it be worth? Or would it be like the High-sec Dreadnaughts where you can fly them and all but you can't use them under pain of firey explosion?

In regards to the seemingly heavy focus on the available job's at CCP are you looking for experianced people already entrenched in teh industry, fresh new minds that have a passion for mmos and gaming yet are only just out of higher education or a general mixture? Also is location a factor or does CCp help with moving or commuteing ect?
