Interesting...
They will probably release it soon, I happen to be going somewhere where I might actually get a chance to see some more of that with my own eyes.

I loved Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, can't wait to don the Malkavian madness once again, you know after I get sick of EVE and that game with the space ninja's and magic. -------------------------------------------------------------- Fanboys would make great cult members. |

At least World of Darkness is a decent setting. Not into the whole Vampire thing, but I thought Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was a pretty decent RPG so I'll probably give this a shot. I'm interested to know if CCP will follow with EVEs 'harsh mistress' approach, or if it's just going to be a standard hack and slash WoW clone affair.
But dear god will the twilight fans flock.

Originally by: Flynn Fetladral Yeah so CCP finally 'officially' announced their second MMO, and showed a private screening of a short film. Here. It will be interesting to see how this pans out, and how it might influence CCP's work with EVE, more so with WIS and how it might move forward in the future.
Actually world of warcraft was created by blizzard not ccp and has been out for year!

So you say that because it's a fantasy MMO? Or because it's about trade and politics (totally unlike eve...)? Hope you get the hint here. - Don't let the trolls stop you from giving a helpful reply. :) |

As cool as it might be, i'm kind of expecting them to do something like create a bottleneck between every area that will be camped and force the majority of players to remain in the starter area.

They fixed that problem two years ago by giving people malleable privacy spheres that you could always pass throughà

I want to play it, NOW!
You know, now that I think about it, I cannot believe there hasn't been a good attempt at a Vampire MMO done yet by any big gaming company. But I never would have guessed that of all companies out there, CCP was the one to take a serious stab at a Vampire MMO. But that's pretty cool because I can definitely expect a very cutthroat vampire world that way. (sandbox mmo's ftw)

Easy.
It's not a folow-the-leader WoW-clone. It's not a Hollywood franchise IP cash-in. It requires player-generated drama.
All of these means that all other MMO manufacturers are inherently incapable of creating it. Blizzard might, but it's not one of their IPs, so there goes that possibility.
àthe only question is: how on earth do we get CCP to pick up the Shadowrun IP? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

lol Theres plenty of manlove in space already. the last thing we need is to worry about dropping the soap, err "veldspar", while standing around in space stations filled with lonely space men.

I don't think I'll be playing it. I can't see how I would be able to use a spreadsheet to enhance the play at all! And Eve has me addicted to internet spreadsheet space pilots!

Originally by: Flynn Fetladral Well I think it is somewhat relevant in that obviously both EVE and WOD will use the Carbon engine stuff. I think there could be some kind of 'gameplay' or game design considerations in terms of Incarna, and Incarna's future in relation to ideas resonating from WOD or how Incarna can in turn resonate with WOD. But obviously we ain't going to start seeing emo vampires in spaceships... yet anyway
Indeed then EVE Online and World of Darkness are based on the same CARBON technology foundation.
We have in the last few years split up the code of EVE into game-specific and game-agnostic parts, creating the CARBON framework that will be used by World of Darkness and DUST 514. A lot of the code that has been written for World of Darkness, in particular the avatar-specific code, will in turn be used in the Incarna expansion of EVE.

It looks like CCP haven't followed current graphics trends, and are actually utilizing vivid colors in Carbon.
For Carbon to be marketable, they'll need to add brownbloom support. Basically, the graphics should look like someone smeared human excrement all over the game geometry and models, and as though they're being viewed through a foggy lens.

Marketable doesn't necessarily mean licensing, but at least that is good to see. I am more curious on current and/or future projects by CCP. Seeing how the feature page for this winter reads like a hybrid of a press release and an investor portfolio statement you can't blame people for being curious.
Catbon reads like it could be quite interestng as a cornerstone element in it all. Just one question if I may, is Carbon the result of or partial result of corification processes over time?

Does CCP/White-Wolf intend to release this as a Vampire: The Masquerade (Gothic-punk, dark comic graphic novel atmosphere) or a Vampire The Requiem setting (a fictional, yet faux-reaity, aimless, souless, dry setting that's not cold, but really has no sense of what it is anymore beyond being an excuse to sell new books with a new, justifiably improved ruleset.) ? |

It's the combined result of corification of the game-agnostic code of EVE on one hand and new development of EVE and World of Darkness on the other hand.
