Looks like CCP finally put some skillpoints to Social branch, much appreciated :)
Good to hear everything goes as expected, I hope it'll stay that way this time so that you guys can get some rest instead of fixing the game for another day and then go directly to writing hotfixes :D

Quality control? What is this quality control you speak of? EVE has had none of that. Did you all add these guys in the last week or something?
I predict endless series of patches to patch this patch, followed by an expansion deployment that will resemble the Bay of Pigs invasion.

Quick question: what happens if I've accepted a courier contract and the downtime runs overly long? Are contract timers halted during abnormal downtimes? I don't want to fail it simply because I never had the opportunity to complete it.

1st question - why accept a courier contract you couldnt complete before DT, knowing that an update was due?

Courier contracts don't automatically fail. The other guy has to login and click "fail", which becomes available after it expires. Just shoot him an EVE Mail when you get on saying what happened, and by Jove, deliver it as fast as you can!

We have a relationship with CCP, plain and simple. And if I've learned anything about interpersonal relationships, it's that a certain level of two-way communication is required to keep both parties relatively happy. CCP seems to have learned this and is showing a previously unseen level of communication.
Kudos CCP! Yes we all want to be able to log in and play (relatively) lag free, but before that we want you to tell us what the heck is going on. Thanks for the updates!
PS. Now that we know that you know how to update us on what's going on you realize we're going to expect this level of communication with all updates/patches/upgrades right? :)

Well, it would be better, if Administration of EVE would say to every one like this: Ok, people, we have an update, it will take about 36 hours to complete every thing! (Lets say they need 18 hours to complete upgrade, but if they would say to public that they need 36 hours, it is possible then to install that upgrade, re check every thing 3 times, and be on time with server wake up, or if they done every thing fast, well done, we love you, you promised 36, done in 20, halleluja! god bless ccp!) but, not every one knows that truth in our world can hurt alot, cause if u believe in something that later lets you down, it makes you mad or nervous... why im posting this?

I usually have a ton of criticism for CCP when they miss time estimates on these extended down times. Most of this is related to project management and and customer expectation management.
I must say, you guys (CCP) have impressed me with your transparency and updates. Massive improvement! Now I am not stressed or annoyed because I feel let down.
We all know what's going on, and I hope that if you guys run into a problem (PLEASE don't run into any problems!) we all get to know about before the "deadline" is reached and because of this our expectations for delivery will be appropriate at that time.
Awesome job, keep it up!!

From a PR point of view CCP get 10 out of 10 this time around, the increased level of communication is brilliant.

Another extended downtime question: Do skills in queue 'flip' during a downtime (extended or not, I suppose) if they are in your skill queue and one is scheduled to change?
