The default keyboard shortcut for "Toggle Autopilot" just says "ALT-" and I can't figure out what it is supposed to be. I will set my own, but it would be nice to know what the default is so that when it gets fixed I won't have to relearn the command yet again.

The beginning. About seven months ago, CCP employees were quoted as saying that the quantity of updates to a game counted more than the quality of those updates.
CCP, as a business, should always be focused on the bottom line. But as a smart business, they should understand that quality of service / product as well as their customers' perception of that quality almost always impacts the bottom line for better or worse. CCP is still maturing as a business and is just catching on that quality matters.

If you make this sort of thing, do it all the way: Live portraits, that blink, make faces, smile laugh and frown. Give us voices so that when we blow eachother up, we see the face of our victim and hear them scream. That would have made this whole customization alot more interresting, and add a whole new level of depth to eve in general. Heck, we could even add this to rats, giving even trivial NPCs a little life.
Past devblogs have stated that the full-body setup is in preparation for Incarna. So the same character you just took a picture of will be used when walking outside your ship.
Also, moving faces in the chat interface might not be desirable, especially in-space where you seek to keep your FPS count high.
As much fun as it would be WTF faces and screams when someone's ship goes boom, I'm with Shurikane on this one in that it would be overly CPU intensive for most of us.
Another person in this thread mentioned Second Life's style character maker. I think such a thing would be great once Incarna rolls out. Naturally though, devs should focus on space and adding more content there.

Im having some problems with the redo of this char. I was redesigning him because i didnt like they way he looked. Took me 2 hours as it is final final final. Then i pressed "finalize" and was back in the login screen. After my redo the char had som "pixel errors" or artifacts around the eyes, this sometimes happends when the picture is first generated.
I found out ealier that clearing cache solved this, and you get a nice picture without the "pixel errors". So i cleared cache, client restarted and i somehow ended up with my "old picture". The one you see atm. Ive made a petition to get the char Ben Dower reset.
Anyone else had this problem?
Besides from above I think its a great editor. I have spend hours playing in it. I think its a mistake you cant keep customizing as much as you want, i mean, why spend 2 years making an editor if you can only use it once pr char? We should be able to customize as much as we want within our faction/race ofc.
My 5 cent.
Update.
I just realized that the pic on forums is the right one. The one i have in login screen/ingame is the old one. Clearing cache not working.

Something is wrong with Military Indexes. I just spent 4 hours doing anoms/ratting with friends and it barely moved 4% total. That's ridiculous. Something in the code messed it up and if you want more folks in 0.0 you need to fix it. Not sure what you did to exactly break it but it obviously can't be counting things the same.
At the same time you might look into halving what was the industry index requirements. You keep saying you want more small and medium size alliances out in 0.0 but you hamstring them at every chance.
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts.

I disagree. It's not realistic to change your physical appearance on a regular basis. Your hair style/color, clothes, and such will be regularly re-customizable in a future expansion (Incarna I suspect).

Do you really want to play the realisme card in an argument about a game of spaceships, warp drives and human cloning?

" Neutrals " I cannot add color to neutrals in OV or local window, Neutrals still show up in my FLEET ONLY settings in OV
" Selected Item " Selected items window does not STAY PINNED, it still resizes itself after undocking
" NPC rats " They now make sounds of communicating with each other for longer than NORMAL
PLEASE remove the new "shadow box" from system info ( top left hand corner ) or the option to turn it off thank you!

We have our consciousness zapped from clone to clone... We have CLONES! You don't think we'd have the technology to alter personal appearance at a whim in our wonderful world of internet spaceships? Why not? Even assuming such a procedure is expensive--heading in to the gene-doc on a station would be kinda cool--we're capsuleers, and rich by definition, if you'll recall the back story.
On another note, I've seen massive amounts of whining in this thread, and I have to say that even though I screwed up my portrait the first time around, I was prepared to live with it. It was my fault. CCP has made it right, and even if the choices are limited now, the character creator is actually pretty good. Having the ability to regularly use an expanded version of this feature will be very welcome.
Also, I have to agree with the mention of clothing. Clothes is clothes, so to speak, and I'm assuming that Caldari clothiers would happily sell military surplus uniforms to Gallente pilots, for example.

I think being able to update all aspects of your character should be do able. Especially when this Incarna thing hits us. In regards to physical shape of the body, people do get in to shape or out of shape all the time. Although not shown daily. It should be allowed to be altered through whatever types of food stuffs might become available after incarna or if that is left out then a once a year option should be granted. As for clothes there should be a great deal more offered for sure regardless of race specific. If clothing was only available to certain people based on their race there would be riots in the streets protesting it. At the moment the creator shows promise for improvements. I only hope CCP answers the phone. because I am tired of answering phone and hearing the 80's say they want there glasses back. as for clothes I see everyone is shopping at the same store I do. My choice in style must be "in".

Why are you complaining so much guys? New avatars need some WORK from YOU not CCP to look like you want to. Don't complain if you spent 5 minutes to create them and now you are complaining about your lazyness and forum is flooded with your tears. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT IF YOU LOOK LIKE A MORON / FAT BITC* / WHATEVER NOW NOT CCP. I'm very satisfied with new avatars.
<=== Just look at Xinrti. She is sexy like a hell now ^^ Too bad you cannot see her bottom
All i have to say Good job CCP and keep it going.

Originally by: Zhula Guixgrixks Great job with the character creator CCP! I really enjoyed exploring the possibilities.
Some issues: - SSE2 enforcement - height & weight constraints of avatars are too strict - small amount of clothes - fixed light sources - backgrounds (only 80 ?, moirT patterns)
Overall very good job ! Thank you Can we hope for a external/API version in the future :-) ?
For added backgrounds, more ship interiors like the bridge or other areas would be nice. Not sure if the SSE2 issue can be fixed. from what I read it was an unexpected softhwere update for their servers. The patch notes have a link about it. yes we need a lot more options for clothes and it shouldn't be race specific. They should be made available to all races. For those that want race only garb then perhaps putting the styles in various race categories, but making them available to all. Get more glass styles out there. The 80's called and they want their glasses back or they are going to fund the Angel Cartel to come get them from anyone that is wearing them. Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up!"

When an orca account disconnects all ships in itÆs ship maintenance bay get their modules off lined, soà
First thing you didnÆt fix: Off lined modules.
Gang bonuses still donÆt work as indented. If you dock and undock, you donÆt get any bonuses even though gang booster is present in space. You need to revoke booster, and then re-set fleet booster in order to gain the bonuses, soà
Second thing you didnÆt fix: Gang bonuses.
When using two accounts (that is paying for two accounts) in window mode, the sun flashes and flickers so fast that makes my eyes hurt. Whenever I fly to the direction of the sun, I need to turn my camera to another direction because itÆs UNPLAYABLE looking at the sun after the patch, soà
Third thing you didnÆt fix: Sun flickering.
When changing ship, from an OrcaÆs ship maintenance bay, you may not be able to dock at a station when you try to. It depends on where you land after the warp. If you land within the stationÆs docking range, then you will NOT dock no matter how many times you try. You have to move outside the docking range, and then request to dock. In the meanwhile, you may be dead, soà
Fourth thing you didnÆt fix: The docking bug.
And of course the window mode still does not overlap the task bar as it did before the patch.
Fix these things soon, I donÆt even feel like undocking anymore. Thanx.

When copying contracts, the following do not copy:
1. The name on a private contract 2. The expiration (of a courier contract) 3. The items (would love to have it pick out identical items from the hangar, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.) 4. When the items come from corp deliveries, it doesn't even give you the option of picking from deliveries when copying. Each contract must be created from scratch each time.

That indicates that there is no currently selected keyboard shortcut. This is confusing, however, and it should just say 'NONE' or something.

Edited by: Che Biko on 21/01/2011 20:18:30 Hmmm, based on the feedback (I've had colonies extracting 2-4 different resources in the past, but not ATM) I think It would be better if:
A) The PG/CPU requirements of the ECU would depend on the amount of extractors heads used. or B) You could make a seperate program for each resource (on a single ECU), and assign heads to a program.

Edited by: Silus Tirol on 21/01/2011 20:23:42 Edited by: Silus Tirol on 21/01/2011 20:23:15 RE: Neutrals on Overview
It is awkward now to require an explicit neutral contact to see neutrals on the overview. I believe that more 99% of the time, people set contacts positive or negative based on some recent experience with a player or corp, but rarely would anyone explicitly set a neutral contact. Furthermore the ability to filter the overview based on (what formerly was assumed) neutrality is now removed.
I propose a new check-box option: "Assume no contact is neutral" (default yes)
This would maintain the new functionality while enabling us to assume neutrality (as before). Please consider this. Thanks.

Had posted here, but looks like this is the proper place for feedback. One-line summaries: -Add notification and reference link for video cards that don't support character editor lighting -Add an option to automatically create a default or random character on the login create/wait option -Old backgrounds -'Closest match to old character' option once everything else is done
In addition (new in this post): -Allow auto-loading encountered characters to be disabled -Text-only/small portrait options for channel lists and station guests tab -Allow local to be set to 'recent speakers' -If possible, add a 'Standings summary' option that would replace the local list with counts of WTs/reds/neuts/blues/alliance/corp.
Why all the suggested changes to local? 'Load cargo in Jita, autopilot to Amarr, dock' resulted in memory usage going from a normal 1GB up to 1.3GB, and I believe this was entirely a result of autopulling character portraits. I'll try leaving a character logged into Jita with all channels set to Small Portrait to see if this is accurate.

Character creator fails to start up. I updated with the last patch today and the Character Creator still does not load. The words "Entering Character Creation" and progress meter are on screen. Meter fills up and then... Nothing. Black screen with those words and full meter but thats as far as it loads. I'm running Windows Vista and game seems to be ok but unable to make any character. Can't wait to see what this new editor is all about. Hope it's fixed soon.

Neutrals still do not show up with the color selected in overview settings, in local or overview. This used to be done automatically, now it appears you want us to do it manually.
If you go to overview settings > appearance > colortags, and put your mouse over the pilot has neutral standing the tool tip states "true if pilot has neutral personal, corporation, alliance standing".
If a pilot as no standings they should automatically be set neutral and the colortag should apply.
Also Hoods for Amarr is still bugged I created my character without a hood, on the character select the character has the correct rendering without a hood but in game and on forums I have a hood.

I realize that CCP did not create the problem with the SSE2 instructions, and their finding it and letting us know the problem is a good thing. I certainly hope they can get something done as a workaround for those of us in the 0.3% that are hit by it, since it will be months at least before I can afford to get a new computer.
One thing I am wondering though. Why is a bug that is keeping thousands of paying customers from actually playing the game listed as a Feature of the update? Most games I play would list that under something like, Known Problems, to indicate that it is considered a "bad" thing.

Resetting your cache should fix this, although it looks like your in-game portrait has a hood. If you used the redo option, I'd wait until tomorrow after downtime and see if it's updated. In the meantime, I'd recommend that you avoid forest moons.

Ok, just spent some time getting my two characters new looks.
Firstly I thought the UI was *generally* easy to use with a couple of exceptions. (Too late for me but perhaps new players in the future might benefit).
I have a lower spec graphics card. At high quality settings the frame rate was so low as to make the majority of changes impossible. I took to doing the majority of changes in "performance" graphics mode and then fine detail in "quality" mode. - Frustrating and time consuming.
The context based pointer tools, (body/face sculpting, head posing, zoom and rotation), didn't always work the way I expected. Sometimes they didn't show up at all. (Particularly in "quality" mode where frame rates where low). I had to toggle between the "customisation" screen and the "snapshot" screen to get them to work again. - I suggest a toolbar where you can select the tool (as well as the context based pointing method).
The help was a bit brief on how to use the new UI. I spent about 1-2 hours just getting familiar with the UI before committing anything. (I thought this was too long).
I liked the ability to bypass the character creation process if you wanted to do a couple of quick things in game.
The choices of hair and clothes I thought was limited. I particularly had my heart set on long shoulder length hair for my male Caldari character but this was no an option. . Oh and by the way, What happened to the Caldari face tattoos? - gone!
Is there going to be a method to change your look (hair cut, tatt's clothes), later on?
I think it will help those of us with low spec graphics that even though we edit in low res mode, that the snap shots are rendered in hi-res mode and you get to see all sizes of pictures used in game so we can see exactly what we will look like and our local cache will have the real image.
I have a situation with one character. I took the snap shot in low res mode *MY* cached copy is the low res version (even in game), but everyone else gets to see the high res version. (I actually still don't know how to get the hi-res copy in game).
When sculpting the body I would also like to see some popup interface, so that I know what will happen when I move the mouse up-down, left-right. - Also I'd like an UNDO button. the number of times I tried something with sculpting and expressions, and then wanted to undo the change...and yet.
That's about all for my feedback.
I appreciate the size of the changes you've made and how difficult they are. And yet I'm asking for more changes...
Sorry for the long post.

Suggestion:
Allow us to 'resume pose from portrait.'
Ie; I really like portrait 2, but I wouldn't mind giving that eyebrow a bit of a tweak. Double click portrait, and the character is returned to that exact same pose, lighting, background, etc. I can then play with it and save as portrait 4.
