sorry mate.. it's hard to support something; if you have no idea what it is. Fix it, is a little uncertain; and it affects Caldari too. Not to say; that it fares any better on that side.
I'll support it, because I agree that it needs fixing; but don't expect me to just x-up. I don't think 'fix-it' is particularly productive; perhap's, sometime, we can discuss how it could be made better. Regardless, I'll respect your thread this much; and not toss in a...

yes gallente thier weapons systems thier ammo all need boosting... its up to CCP to come up with these fixzes and us to test them and complain about them in the future...
but yes failente need to be fixed... as it stands i have around 10 million waisted sp in them...

The standard balance for video games is closer to a weapon with 1/2 the range getting +25% the damage of its competitors. While this is a bit extreme, hybrid weapons should be closer to it than they are now. |

We were discussing this the other night as one of our crew fly's nothing but gallante ships and with the exception of the Nyx there isn't a single ship the gallante have that is best in its class. Sure there are some niche uses among certain ships(ganking, drone boat, etc.) but for mainstream purposes they are beat out by someone else virtually everywhere.

It's not nearly that bad, the Taranis and Ishkur are both considered by some to be the best in there class, and by others the second best. The Dominix, for what its worth, is probably the only really solo capable bs (minus the tempest, but thats really a big battlecruiser).
After that though I will say that I support rebalancing Gallente ships as part of the removal of the tier system.

I can fly each races' subcaps (T1 and T2). Gallente subcaps suck pretty bad. The smaller the Gallente ship, the more the problem exists. Caldari hybrid platforms aren't a lot better, but their shield tanks (vs armor tanks) allow them to accelerate and fly a bit faster.
Missiles work, lasers work, projectiles work. Each have a useful niche where they excel. Hybrids don't. Most painfully on Gallente ships.
The only hybrid ship I still fly is a vulture and only because I'm not there to do damage.
This signature is useless, but it is red.

Take a look at evekill top 20...
Ships: # of Gallete - 4 (3 of those are caps) Weapon Platforms: # of Gallente - 1 out of 20.... thats reallllly sad, and its a cap weapon.
Real question is.... Why does CCP take so long to get a fix out :/

I'll support this on one condition. I haven't seen a single post detailing what exactly is wrong with gallente ships. I honestly have no idea, as I've never really flown gallente ships into combat.

It's not gallente, it's hybrids... It's really the tracking/falloff of hybrids being too tight. If falloff and tracking were even 1.25x what they are now...rails would be more balanced. It's not just dps, it's more so too small a sweet spot.

We know something needs to be done, CCP knows something needs to be done, the CSM knows something needs to be done - simply saying to them "something needs to be done" isn't going to accomplish anything.
Come back when you have a real proposal. Flailing about madly isn't going to fix Gallente.

Flailing about madly is apparently what resulted in this situation. We are ****ed off, that what this thread is saying. We are fed up with the issue getting discussed and being left at "nobody can agree on what to do so we're going to do nothing".
That is not an acceptable response, so someone from CCP needs to speak up and give us a detailed and reasonable explanation as to why things are the way they are. I expect a detailed dev blog post, covering in depth the process and individual dynamics involved. How does CCP balance the four major factions against each other? Do they have four guys or four teams of guys sitting around trying to push their own agenda? or do they just choose a FOTM to work on to avoid antagonism and favoritism? Is that approach honestly working? What is their blueprint or vision for faction balance?
As one person said in one of these Gallente balance threads - How do you wind up with a game where the melee character is also the slowest? and how do you expect that to be in any way reasonably balanced? EVE might or might not be somewhat different but it is still an RPG and for a very long time the basics of how these different combat styles should function have been well established by thousands of man-hours of neckbeards squabbling in darkened rooms with game boards and dice.
They need to bite the bullet and actively revisit the game balance issue by committing active resources (IE - Team Falcrum .. or something) to fixing it.
Leaving 1/4 of the game assets and players out in the cold for over two years is not OK and the most frustrating thing about it is the silence and lack of acknowledgment received from both CSM and CCP. They might have more specific things to worry about but I'll reiterate what I just said - This is ruining the game for ONE QUARTER of your playerbase.

Well to be fair for the most part we eventually just crosstrain Minmatar and get all the cool angel ships (working on large Auto's atm myself)
But Ogogov's point stands. There have been countless threads discussing the problems with hybrids and while there may be some disagreement on exactly how broken they are and what could be done to fix them the general consensus is that they are broken. That the concept of a short ranged high dps ship that can't actually close range with it's opponents is stupid.
Something needs to be adjusted. And it's the job of the developers to decide how to do so.
Oh and it's really more than half the player base that gets the shaft here because Hybrids are technically the primary weapon system for 2 races, Caldari have about as many hybrid platforms as missile platforms. oh and both those races alternate weapon systems have major flaws as well.
Now personally I like the idea of faster ammo changes instant sounds good to me since it would give hybrid users the option of using lesser damage ammo while closing then switch to facemelting dps if they manage to actually get into hull bumping range.
Hell the best solution may not even be to adjust hybrids it might be better to adjust the bonus's on each ship individually. Say velocity or agility bonus's on blaster boats so they can get into range better. or a web bonus or any number of different things.
The point is that the developers have to recognize that there is a problem in the first place and the most recent communication that came out of the CSM meeting was that "blaster are fine" which anyone who actually uses them knows is bull****.
As it stands now Hybrids get every disadvantage a weapon system can have. Fixed damage type, Cap use, Ammo use, high fitting requirements this combined with a much smaller engagement envelope than their competitors. This in the case of Gallente combined with supposedly active armor tanked ships (another problem for Gallente) which are by nature going to be slower.
If CCP wants ideas or specific proposals they can look through the boards for those ideas are legion but first we need them to recognize that there is a problem.

All I can do to avoid rookies to post here in a few months is to advice them to stop train gallente/hybrids. 100% of the rookies that have listen are capable to see the difference between both and are happy because they didn't lost months of training.
CCP dev's or manager can't, this is the bigest problem of Gallente/hybrids. Keep dev Roguecraft on Heroes station at Aions system it's more important.

No respectable alliance will put a gallente ship on a reimbursement program because they are such fail ships (exception - maybe logi's and capitals). All the people who started Gallente and PVP just wasted time at this point. You can go any number of ways here at this point - any direction is a good direction.

I've only been playing for a month, but even for a complete newbie who only tried Gallente, Minmatar and Amarr up to battlecruisers is is glaringly obvious that Gallente need some major work done. Going from Thorax to Rupture was like the difference between night and day. |

They just whine that Blasters sucks because they can't get them to work after how THEY are using it.
I'm using a Megathron often now, so i know what's good and bad with it.
Pretty much everything except for the range on Blasters is fine with the Megathron + T2 Neutrons. Can't really say anything about how Blasters are on a Hyperion or Dominix for example, since i haven't used those ships.
I also use a Vindicator, and THAT SHIP is just freaking crazy lol. 235k EHP and 1.6k DPS + 90% web .
I have an upcoming video (INFOD video) where i'm using a Megathron alot, so you will see that i will hit targets pretty hard inside 8 km, but when targets are longer out than that, my damage gets pretty low.
But that's how Blasters works.

seperate hybrids into Blasters and Railers Operation skills since there is no distinction between Gallente and Caldari weapon use which there should be (along with bonuses - except for ship bonuses which new people don't really check into yet), make all weapons like Minmatar Cannons/Autocannons (close range fast dps) and Artillery (slow heavy dps), reorganize drone/missile/torpedo use for all races since they seem to be popular weapons and should be spread around
Blasters Operation -Blasters (act like pulse lasers/gattlings/gammaxrayish dmg range) -Energy Type Blast Cannons (artillery variant which detonates splash dmg on impact) blasters use energy cells of varius types (ion/electron/etc) and when cells deplete over time the strength of weapon decreases by %percent of depletion so 50% depleted cells would deal half dmg (repairing cells/replensihing them at space station would be like buying new ammo or players could use energy cell replenishers on their ship)
Railers Operation -Railers (act like autocannons, fire charges which act like Minmatar Ammunition) -Heavy Rail Launchers (act like artillery or missiles, heavy charges which detonate and explode on impact)
Laser Operations (lasers still use frequency crystals but the crystals deplete by 1% over time (50-100 shots) and decreases max dmg by that percentage so that Laser users actually have to consider ammunition/repair crystals at station -Laser Artillery (focused artillery variant which causes a splash dmg against hulls of ships -Pulse Cannons (pulse artillery that causes kinetic/emp explosions
True hybrids/SScience Weapons (require skills in both factions/races, require science upgrades, etc) -Particle Accelerators (act like artillery, slow heavy dmg) LPCs - short range, extreme dmg HPCs - heavy artillery long range
ECM Weapons Heat Ray/Wave - scrambles systems causing heat thermal dmg which cooks the ship Shocker/Electric weapons - overvolts the ship systems causing EMP like dmg Sonic Weapons - causes kinetic explosions/waves of sonic energy whihc rock the ship and collapse the hull/armor Freezer/Cyber Hacking WEapons - freezes systems cutting off life support, shield regeneration and thrusters/stops energy regeneration
Evil PIrate WEapons -Xombie - contaminates ship with poison infection that makes livestock undead/infects ship and systems/stations ship visits, quarantine by concord -NanoWar - nanobots that eat away the hull/armor of a ship
finally add middle weapon range of 350/380, 450-480 (bigger than 280 and less than 650/720) artilleries (laser, blaster, pulse, railer variants as well) for close range light cruisers vs frigate combat
also ADD more SML dual, quad weapons like dual 280s (twin medium lasers) on a destroyer/quad 280s (AA or Flak weapons)/dual 450s on a small cruiser would be a good weapon to spam against fast attack frigates while using 650s and 720s against cruisers

Good grief, even the SLEEPERS agree on how underpowered Gal boats are in comparison. Sleepers target the greatest perceived threat.
When our fleet moves into a C5 combat site I run one of our Logistics boats in support. I spend a lot of effort repping other racial BS's. I occasionally have to energy rep the Gallente boats.

For those saying the vindicator is great therefor blasters are fine are missing the point... the vindicator is what a blaster ship should look like. no other race needs to get up to a two race skill pirate battle ship to function like its supposed to.
CCP may be right in saying that blasters are just how they want them, but gallente ships are not suited for useing them.

While a hybrid/gallente rebalance would put my beloved missiles even further behind the curve, it could potentially make the non-missile caldari boats more viable, or at the very least give me a crosstraining option that would make use of the gun skills I do have.

it's a blame to ccp that we actually have to vote for such an obvious issue to be fixed.
i don't know the structures behind ccp, but it seems they should rethink their manhour distribution among various eve-related features. seems they're not aware that spaceships actually are the central "feature" of eve - THIS is what should be monitored very closely - ccp's rebalancing reaction time was HORRIBLE in the past tbh - if there was an reballancing attempt at all.

Wrong. In actuality sniping BS fell out of favor over two years ago along with the alterations to make scanning easier. Their range advantage did not offset their pitiful rail-based DPS and once probed out is easy to drop a blob on. With the OP state of Projectiles, the current FOTM is a shield-fit Maelstrom. The reason for this is if you can alpha a carrier, you deny the enemy the ability to even use their logistics.

+1 Gallente have only been getting the stick since i started playing back in 04 / 05 with my 2 GALLENTE main accounts. I now only fly Gallente in level 4 missions when I have a couple of others along to make up for my total lack of DPS. coz my drake out tanks and out dps's my Mega in most missions when dealing with multiple target types.
If it wasnt for bad luck, i wouldnt have any luck at all |

Yeah, I'll support this. Mainly 'cause I ended up going with a Minmatar Typhoon and later Typhoon Fleet Issues just to get a decent drone boat. Crazy I couldn't find a Gallente drone boat I was happy with, when they're supposed to be the drone specialists. |

Hybrids used to be the bees knees a few years ago, then it was Amarr that needed rebalancing.. before that missiles got tweaked.. I'm sure it will be something else next week

I would humbly suggest that in order to make this vote statistically significant, we need control cases, which is a similar vote to buff say, Caldari, Amarr, and Minmatar ships. Just speaking from a scientific point of view :)

"I Was There" = few century's ago heh?
Unless they're intending to give special ability to blaster ships like being able to warp on grid from 50km this trailer didn't reflected gallente and blaster ships issues like not being able to apply any decent dps unless you're on top of the target.
A simple fleet of hurricanes would just spank that blaster fleet with lols in local.

I mean, if I were put on my RP hat.
Balancing the game so that everything is 'equal' makes EVE about as boring as chess.

There is no hate. I am a student of scientific method, so I just would prefer to hear the logic behind the rebalance instead of going on the votes of people who may be having problems with their fits and just assume that there is a problem. Honestly, I don't know which are which. Popular vote may be skewed buy non-expert votes. I would love to see the opinions of hardened PvP vets on the matter, that's all :)
I also am a fan of varied game balance. What that mean is that I do not believe balance on a ship by ship comparison should be a goal. I like games like Starcraft where each race dictated a different set of tactics and playing styles.
So I suppose I am biased, in that from my tiny perspective, the races seem pretty 'balanced'. As part of my nullsec corp, the ship spread seems pretty equal.
Amarrian Guardians are the best logis Amarrian battleships are more popular than the rest Caldari have the bombers and drakes Gallente thanatos and nyx is the carriers of choice Minmatar for cruisers.
I just want to point out that forums like these may be read by say, only Gallente frigate or cruiser pilots, so they feel that their entire race needs a rebalance. I would just like to see some actual evidence of where the imbalances lay, taken as a whole race.

Though this forum page doesn't display it, I'm sure its a simple task for CCP to do to filter out duplicate reads by same users so that a very clear read-not-support/not-care vs supported ratio can be found.

Gotta disagree with your ship preferences. Guardians were great, but currently there are very few armor fleets as armor tanks are pigs in comparison to to shield tanks. Scimitar and basilisk share duty equally here. Alpha Tempest is the flavour of the moment. Drakes and hurricanes are everywhere in null sec. No one calls for harby or myrmidon fleets... ever. Bombers are racially intgerchangeable. t2 frigs, no complaints from the gallente here, ishkur and taranis do very well. best Hac, easy... vaga. best recon is falcon, best hic, i'd go with broadsword, best dic,, again an easy one... sabre. Best command ship, anyone but gallente. Loki and Tengu rule the T3's Tengu and Raven are the bots ship of choice for good reason. Carriers: Thanatos and Archon seem to be generally favoured, though in a triage situation, shield carriers are preffered. Nyx is the prettiest of all super carriers, and have best dps. they're also primaried. Aeon has monster tank and better survivability. Titan's.. who cares. they're just mobile jump bridges now anyhow. I'm not sure what you're looking for here. You claim that you'd like to see a game where not everything is homegenous, and I agree. That doesn't mean that one race that has been singled out by the ccp nerf bat time and time again should be the weakest at everything or that one ( matar) should be best at almoseverything. I agree with the consequences of choice, but that should mean if your race gets the best cruisers, the t2 versions aren't or if you get the best battleships, your battle cruisers should be weak. That's the conaequence of choice i'd like to see, not simply ..." too bad you're gallente, you should have gone matar."

Besides just because nobody calls for a proteus, doesn't necessarily mean that a proteus can't whoop a tengu's nose if fitted for it. The capability of the ship has a lot to do with the fitter, and this is really just an argument for maxxed out lvl5 optimal dps&ehp fit vs optimal lvl5 dps&ehp fit right? I also think its possible that FCs don't call for certain ships because they favour certain tactics that they know. Differences may demand them to adapt and do something different. For example, the very fact that gallent BCs aren't that popular means that they are cheaper. So from certain perspectives for a isk tight gang, being gallente pilots could mean they spend less isk for their warchest. These are just some potential positive effects that differentiation gives us. It's not always good to think of optimal lvl5 toe to toe shoot out comparisons in a 'real' economy like eve. Another thing to consider is that although matari ships rule in spec comparisons, traning a good matari pilot takes much longer than an equivalent Gallentean or Caldari. They have to train projectiles, armor tanking and shield tanking, and missles. Other races, especially amarr have much less places to spread their SP to be proficient in a wide range of ships.

That is not really true.
You can fit next to any ships fitted with missiles wit neuts to.
Amarr and Caldari both have pure turret and missile ships and some hulls that need tank cross skilling to be effective(AT scorp, shield harbinger / curse etc.).
Gallente are just as much as a split ST/AT race as minmatar today and also require high SP amounts in lots of combat related(drones, guns) as well as in support categories(tank, speed, cap) to work. ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank!

Gallente ships originally fielded drones much like carriers do - extra drone per level. The server couldn't keep up with it so that's why there's a hard limit of 5 drones per sub-capital ship. Drone HP and DPS got buffed to compensate, but this was way before my time so I'm unsure of the specifics.
Blasters got nerfed by way of two things. First, 'nanoing' ships was nerfed, again unsure of the specifics due to it being in eve's age of antiquity. This meant that you could no longer out fit a heavily armored Gallente ship in such a way whereby it could still dictate range and disengage. Then again you could get ridiculous things like a 1200m/s dominix... Blasters were also hard hit by the web nerf. Look at a Vindicator or Vigilant to see the only effective web/blaster ships for reference.
Gallente ships were hard-hit by the ability of Warp Scrams to shut down Microwarp drives. This means that within 10k - incidentally the range of the primary Gallente weapons system - the ship once again can't dictate range.
Gallente ships were hit bad by the explosive hole - I'm lead to believe at once point armor had low thermal resistance instead of explosive resistance. Hybrids no longer do 'good' damage.
I'm sure someone who has been here since "the beginning" can expand upon these points/verify them and offer up new ones, but these are the ones I've heard about.

Nobody calls for a proteus because it isn't a good ship. It's most effective role is as an armor brick mini-megathron or as a cloaky u-boat. It is nerfed on drones, it is crippled by railguns and who in their right mind would take a 1.5bln isk ship into scram range???? The fits are simply too situational to offer any kind of tactical flexibility and it makes too much of a juicy target to bother taking on roams. It's E-WAR fit suffers from the idiotic state of Gallente E-war bonuses (bonus to jammers, wot?) that won't stack properly.

That is an incredibly weak argument when you're talking about a difference of 1-3mln ISK, tops. Either way, the ISK doesn't matter as much as the fact that you can't get on killmails and you're more likely to die. By the time you are using these ships on roams, chances are you don't want to spend 20m buying modules and parts then burning through 20 gates to catch up to where the action is. Better to just bring a useful ship which fits with the FC's tactical doctrine.
Gallente are out in fleet fights for much the same reasons... the only ship that is ever called for is a Lachesis and it's a distance second to a Huginn anyhow.

The Gallente pilot has to train everything the Matari pilot does, with the caveat that hybrid skills are so useless most train projectiles anyway and fit them (unbonused) onto Gallente hulls. Then there's the necessity of near-perfect support skills so your ship won't cap out, or drone skills to take advantage of the droneboats. The SP cost is massive for very little gain.

My first training was gallente, but I wanted to PvP, so I cross-trained amarr. Zealot is a great ship, I prefer pilgrim to arazu and curse to Lachesis. Harbinger over Myrmidon, Apoc over mega, abaddon over Hyperion. And personally I prefer amarr caps over gallente caps. Players who fly Amarr do very well, thankyou.

Good FC's are good FC's because they know the capabilities of they ships they want in a fleet and the capabilities of the ships they might face. If a player doesn't know how to best use a myrmidon, he's not an FC more than once. FC's have one simple rule when calling a fleet- "I want the best combination of DPS, Logistics and support i can possibly field- leave your megathrons at home."

One of the good gallente ships is the ishtar, but for it to be any more than a mission runner it needs to be shield tanked, therefore a gallente pvper trains shield. Myrmidon, Dominix and Ishtar are all drone boats- exclusively. gallente need to train drones, but not just drones because the diemost, brutix and mega are all hybrid platforms, gallente must train hybrid with the same support skills required by matar. Matar need to only train Projectiles, and don't jump in with missile boats- each race has one or two of them, except the caldari- they have mostly missile boats with one or 2 hybrid platforms.

Thank you everyone who took the time to elaborate the details of the nerfs. They all seem to be innocent by themselves, addressing different issues but as a whole they affected gallente most. But they all seem to affect fleet pvp exclusively.
I would support then some selective buffs to a couple of ships to make them fill some holes in a fleet composition, but not a broad based racial wide buff ( unless it's the aforementioned drone one ) his is because I am comfortable with an imbalance in the sense that some races are better at fleet battles ( or any other single aspect of eve ) than others, so long as they enjoy an advantage elsewhere in the game, for example, solo pve, or pirate ships. I dont know if factional war is such an example, but the fact that gallente leads fw scoreboards may indicate something there, or maybe not.

You may well be right. But all I am saying is that as long as it's good at something unique, then it's a difference that adds character to the game. Perhaps if Uboat strategy comes into demand, the proteuses will be called for. ( I'm speaking generally ) I don't think that each ( for instance ) T3 ship should be equal to others in terms of functionality or effectiveness for something specific like dps or ehp. If that were the case then we can argue about why matari frieghters are the weakest, and how everyone prefers gallente iterons. As long as gallente ships give something unique, then it's okay, just because their abilities don't make them too useful at the moment in fleets, isn't a good reason to make some large-scale buff that may cause other imbalances elsewhere. That being said, buffing the speed of some fleet geared gallente ships or boost their drones some how would be acceptable

I've had countless converstaions with others on this subject. Gallente ships are obsolete as it currently stands. They require armor tanks, which makes them significantly slower than other races (except amarr), while requireing extreme closer range in order to be effective. It doesn't seem to make sense. By the time you get in range, you're already into half armor.

The only Gallente ships I see old players pvping in these days are the Ishkur, Vigilant, (long point) Arazu, Thanatos and the Nyx, and even then its rare, please re-balance the Gallente.

Actually checkout the article in the latest EON. Crew has always been there in your ship. Yes as a capsuleer you need less crew but there is crew nevertheless. CCP have not released 'official' numbers as likely they want to keep the freedom to change the numbers for play balance once they do release the 'Populus' patch (CCP, I'm taking credit for naming this patch if you use it!:) But here are some round figures they released as guidelines:

Gallente was my first race. I learned all weapon and t1 ships (subcapital). After starting PVP I crosstrained to Minmatar and Amarr. Amarr have fantastic range versatility with Scorch => they do not need to range dictate, they hit hard at any distance. Minmatar have many advantages: switchable damage types, ship speed, weapon do not use CAP, due to speed and agility it is possible to use even long range turret in PVP (Arty) So what we have for PVP from Gallente? There are only drone ships. All other ships have better Min or Amarr counterparts.

And that's why I think with the addition of crew damage, you can at least say that a gallentean fleet can withstand the most damage and keep hitting. Minni's have high alpha, but wear them down and their ships start falling apart, slowing down, loose turret tracking. According to CCP lore, the required crews rank with Gallente needing the fewest (at the low end of the range), then Amarr, Caldairi, finally Matari.
It sort of opens a different dimension in fleet tactics I think, you can hit hard and fast with Matari, but if you are expecting a drawn out battle, on a long expedition into enemy 0.0 territory or WH and will be far from crew resupply, Gallentean ships will win the endurance race, so better bring some along for fleet durability.

I really hope they come up with a very interesting combination between platform/weapon tweaks because I'd feel ****ed if I still have to use Arty's in my mega or autos in my myrmidon to do some dmg (witch I don't any more since now I'm minmatar cross trained).
See what I did here? -picked another race's weapon in my gallente hull to be a little more effective with my gallente ship, so I don't care if they're autos/arty's like, but I do care about performance and I'd laugh hard about competency/players feedback whatsoever in these threads dev's don't even care to answer if I still have to use autos/arty's on my gallente ships after the changes, for sure.
How can people even talk about "cloning" autos when autos ARE more efficient than blasters in blasters niche now for years? And how can you talk about performance/efficiency or think it's balanced if you don't ask yourself how scorch pulses can do more dmg than rails in rails optimal? -no it's not a joke, it's the truth.
