If you buy into the whole Apple thing you are destroying the internet as we currently know it.
Steve Jobs (aka, SATAN) and his insidious New World Order cohorts have diabolical plans to control the net that would result in virtually all media requiring a fee.
It's started already with the awful Itunes etc..
Stop it now whilst there's still hope!
Also. Apple fanbios should have their heads shaven in public and be made to wear black arm bands with the Apple logo on it. If only to avoid incessant coffee shop babble about Apple tech and how good that episode of Friends was they watched ten years ago.

My super duper old Asus k7m is still running as well with its amd k7 750 (hey I played eve on this first), but I defiantly will try again gigabyte. Just waiting for llano release for a new secondary system. For gaming this mac should do for another 2 years just fine, at least as windows system, and after that ... who knows what offer will be at the market. And btw, its was not really pointing out the easy to use, because you get this at least partly with any pre-fab system. Its just pointing out that you have costs that you pay with your time when building a system from scratch.

Asus manufactures Apple hardware for them...as does many other motherboard manufacturers that make their own that you can build your own systems with, from the same factories, using the same chips, using the same labor force..etc...

I MUST be missing something because glancing through these posts I seem to hear a background rumbling of surprise at the "unexpected" or "last minute" or "less than 24 hours notice" for this update.
I was wondering if I was only DREAMING about knowing exactly when this update was gonna happen WEEKS ago ... It seems not . . .

Damn there is alot of complaining that is done on here, just cos eve is down people feel the need to vent to the devs? Eve is a damn good game, and yes some changes mess with your experience, but at the end of the day they are making the game better. not simpler not easier but better. I trust in the long term goals of the devs. they know that people play eve precisly because it is complicated. they want to make it more ballanced and realistic, there will always be problems there has to be with a game this big on one server.
I say Well done the EVE dev team!
Now lets get eve back up and running. I have people to kill and ransoms to collect.

In fairness, I'm pretty sure he wasn't saying the software was awful, but the business model. Which is true enough if you're an impulse buyer, I suppose. Or fear a New World Order. _______________________________________________ æA planet is the cradle of mind, but one cannot live in a cradle forever.Æ ùKonstantin Tsiolkovsky |

Manual Patch
to everyone who needs a manual patch, here's the website: http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/server_status.php and the patch link itself: http://content.eveonline.com/evepremiumpatch259851-264377_m.exe
you can see that the version info of the manual patch matches that of patchnotes (Build 259851 to 264377) see patchnotes: http://www.eveonline.com/updates/patchnotes.asp?patchlogID=227
use manual patcher at your own risk, at worst case scenario, use repair tool and fix the client (still faster than waiting for the client to patch itself when server comes back online)

Not really. Look at the nightmares projects have faced trying to get their software to run on all versions of windows. You have to write portable code to properly support windows in the first place and that same code will work on mac or linux just fine.
I'm afraid not, even with Windows variants, say a windows 98 and a windows xp, the same code could very well be incompatible, its not about how the code is created, its how the OS code is created. to make a code compatible to a lot of OS, the code itself will have to be replicated, each iteration specific to an OS. that's often the reason that in Eve, a specific function may work well with say Windows 7, but the same function may not with another OS.

I actually choose Gigabyte cause they used to be the only real superior choice for a hackintosh, dsdt wise, as well as the ALC889A codec on my specific mb being supported nativity by OS X with just some slight nudging (Gigabyte is still a rock solid hackintosh choice, but others exist now as well). Course I've never had any issues with them either, which helps.
As for the benefit of not having the long install time with Windows, I actually used to re-install for fun.. so not having to do that isn't such of an incentive for me..
