EVE Online: Incursion 1.6 is scheduled for deployment during an extended downtime on Tuesday, May 31. Downtime will begin at 10:00 UTC and is expected to be completed at 16:00 UTC. Incursion 1.6 will bring the new Carbon UI framework into the game, paving the road for a new and improved user interface in EVE Online. A dev blog covering these changes in detail will be published soon.
Patch notes for this release can be found here.

I know Mac users are still in the minority but remember (CCP) that these cannot be graphically upgraded as a lot of PCs can be, that's if you can afford it, just to keep on playing... and a new generation iMac would cost even more.
Can someone from CCP PLEASE let us know (those with Shader only 2 machines) if Eve will even load, as I've just read disturbingly enough above that they don't seem to be able on the test server using this the new 'engine'!?
I'm very worried/saddened as at last with the last patch FINALLY stopped (my) Mac clients crashing when going through a gate (any gate), and after playing now for more than a year I'm actually starting to get the 'hang' of this wonderful game!
I know there will always be a small number of users on older machines who will loose out, and publishing a small percentage number looks okay, but each of those percents are real, money paying users, many of whom just can't upgrade due to the reasons above.

Sounds suspiciously as lets see how many graphics cards we can blow up or lets see howmany paying customers we can ****off.
Well anyways, i do hope you do something usefull with these changes like fix the damn industry interface. Its still takes way too many click to launch invention or manufacturing job. You fixed PI in recordtime and pi prices are blumeting. How about take same team and fix industry, clearly they know how to fix things.
PS. can i disable those new effects in esc-menu? Please?
Im damn podpilot, hooked into direct computer neural interface, i dont want any imersion brokeing slowdown brakes to hinder my access to information im looking for.
3D my ass. You cant do 3d until we have actyal displays that can actyally project 3d objects in air.

If games were specifically designed soley for crap computers the game would be crap itself. I mean come on you cant expect the world to stop improving its technologies cus you dont wanna spend 30 bucks for more ram a graphics card or just get a good pc. I work full time and go to school on a minimum wage job and after 4 paychecks i can afford to upgrade a computer or even buy a new one that will last for at least the next two years. Mac itself has even told its user base that its not a gaming platform but a user friendly office or creation center. If you care about gaming or even eve do them and the general community a favor and upgrade after a while. Like I said before you cant expect every patch to suit a system ment for handling rune-scape. Just get it over with and you'll be good for the next few years, trust me you wont regret it, and nothing against mac they are good systems just not the best for gaming. You cant expect a lawnmower to dry hair or a blow dryer to cut grass its simple. Cheers.

The briefness of the patch notes is scary. Whenever CCP replaces large chunks of stuff(tm) with other stuff(tm) features have a tendency to work 'differently' or gosh break. It would be a pleasant surprise to have found that CCP properly tested this patch.

We have add and repaired abillity to Black Ops open portal for T3 ships. And now t3 ships can use Black Ops portal again.
What the hell?!
How many weeks we need to sit in dock and wait till you will add back this crashed function in last stupid useless patch?!

Seems Lt Chonchu is right, the patch tomorrow should allow Shader 2.0 access, as this is on Sisi and I can access Ok.
The upgrade on 21st June will be the death-knell, if Duality is anything to go by.
Y4NGFOOSH4NG I understand your comment and I would have upgraded my PC a long time ago, but unfortunately due to unemployment and having a family to support it is low down on my list of priorities. Precisely because I'm unemployed Eve is one of the few pleasures available to me and many others.

So the only quality in a game is pretty graphics? That opinion goes along pretty well with the rest of your post.

No comment on the new UI until I see it.
But I still expect you deal with the MANY problems people have with the changes you made in version 1.5.
When the disapproval started outweighing the positive feedback in these threads ( Feedback & A.M.E.), You went silent about the patch and stopped replying to us in these threads altogether. I'm not letting this go and expect you to address these problems soon if not immediately. This new UI stuff doesn't appear to use any shaders. It looks EXACTLY like the current one. At least on the surface. Unless you can figure out a way to apply shaders to brackets, you're probably fine. When I tested this on sisi, it ran beautifully. From my testing, it's the first good thing CCP has done for the UI in 3 years - it improves ALL gameplay and doesn't break stuff (that I could tell.) It has no useless eye candy (yet at least) that other UI upgrades have added (I kinda keep a running list in my head of UI features added, and there were really like 3 good ones out of 30 of the past 3 years... this is a big good one.) I hope this was just an optimization of the code in the backend, and didn't add fake improvements that just dump on the hardware.

Indeed. Though the shader 3.0 minimum warning was last year.
But I fear judging from Duality performance even if you get a barely 3.0 compatible card, the rest of your sys will be woefully inadequate. Take the recommended sys. req. and make them the minimum. ______________ Mal-¦Appears we got here just in a nick of time. What does that make us?¦ Zoe-`Big damn heroes, sir.` Mal-¦Aint we just.¦ |

The new ui deploying tomorrow is when the real change happens. The 21 is just the cake cooling off so we can eat it.
