Mac owners don't pay 50% more for hardware, they pay more money for style... Which clearly you don't have if your buying some $350 dollar piece of crap. And TBH, I find it highly unlikely that you could even run 2/3 clients on your machine, never mind 4/5 without a s**t ton of degradation...
Generally people who bleat about MAC being bad, are just the ones that can't afford it in the first place... So unless you have anything useful to add to the conversation, stick your head back in the sand...
I'm sorry, but u clearly have no clue whatsoever. Just because someone spent $350 on a new home built PC, doesn't mean they bought a new case, a new power supply, a new DVD/Blue Ray player, a new kayboard/mouse a new Hard Drive, a new monitor, the list can go on, and if those parts were quality to begin with, they could be the same quality as something bought today. It's a Hand Built PC, u can just upgrade parts of it for $350 and have hardware that is better then the best Mac. That's why we do it, u can continually upgrade only the parts of your PC that needs upgrade, and if u already have a kick ass case, and monitor, you have Style as well. And if its Intel, or u want to deal with a little more work, u can hackintosh it and have OS X as well. I know this because I am speaking from experience.
Sure u paid for style, but you are still an idiot.
Clearly you didn't read his post, he didn't upgrade as he states in his post... And well done for having experience in computers/computing you must be the only person in the world then?

Your ability to whine in my opinion about a huge discrepancy between Windows and Mac in game performance is either irrelevant or is close to irrelevant, the margin between the two being incredibly small. Stop *****ing and compare TF2 now, to like 5 months ago. Huge difference. It's getting better.
As for the people with hell of old macs, well that's your problem, people with hella old PCs are in the same boat. U are not special, nor should u deserve special consideration.
While its is getting better in other games, stability in eve was not getting better. Game is more often than not crashing on start, and its not safe to use the mac client anymore because crashes are just to often. It is no big deal, there is always bootcamp, but it is annoying.

and here is another bone to pic. YOUR FACTION RAT SPAWNS SUCK!!!. what i mean by suck is that you have to go out to nullsec, find a spawn, kill it, salvage it, take it back to a safe location without getting blown up and if all this wasnt hard enough you have them drop crap like dark laser crystals. really... laser crystals. eve do you like money, do you like having a great fan base? then make it rewarding enough on a scale that the rest of the player commnunity can appreciate. its like you put something cool in the game then ensure that only the biggest alliances can get it, or you almost nullify the bonuses it gets. pretty disappointing. I love eve but i can tell you that there are a few other mmo's coming out in the next few years that will blow this game out of the water if you dont shape up and start thinking more of the player than your pocket books.
p.s. for the trolls i am very aware that eve was invented to make money. im not against that. more money means "hopefully" better game. so far the contracts system is a joke due to the fact that it is possible to make a scam contract that looks so real i couldnt distinguish it from my legit ones. might aswell rename it scams instead of contracts. im not against pirates, i engage in some "walk the plank" type fun and honest work. i think eve should always have that. having a corrupt, compromised exchange system is poor design and there is no excuse. i could go on but i wont. some like it some dont.
Silly carebear, forums are for adults.

And yet, the best idiots always tell you what to buy.
If you're into that, buy yourself some white furry pants, a metallic green vest shirt, and a bright orange puffer jacket and go stand on the street corner, you horendous gay.
People have the right to choose to buy what they like, eat what they like, do what they, sniff what they like, without the N a z i brigade coming in with jack-boots telling them what they can't do.
wow manage to godwin the thread much? Aside from weak troll-fu let us just pretend for a second that Macintosh computers are not uber gaming rigs. (they aren't you know).
PC's are more flexible, but have issues with being less uniform in hardware requiring driver providers and windows to be more robust in what is supported. This opens up avenues of attack due to the fact that your environment is so much more diverse.
You are lucky that EVE is supported for OS X and Linux AT ALL. The fact that you expect everyone to cater to you speaks volumes. The product gets marketed to the segments that are large. I.E. I'd rather sell my product in the USA than Tazmania.
You have the right to choose your hardware and software platform yes, but you don't have the right to force the developers to cater to you. You have one side right but you forgot about the other side's freedom to choose.
And If I feel like wearing a metallic green t-shirt with an orange puff vest a la 1992 with shag carpeting for pants then I damn well will. On the other hand I won't force you to let me in your house. Fair? I think so.

I have a serious question amidst all this nonsense and people caressing their ego's. I'd love the ability to customize myself or my ships, but how will this affect lag? Isn't pinstripes or turret animation just more information to send back and forth? Will we be able to disable these features for large fleet fights? Also, if theres a way to ban all the people who have crappy internet or PC's please do I feel they corrupt the rest of our game experience =)

a few years ago macs and pc's were close enough in price to justify the purchase of a mac if you were that way inclined, I bought a macbook 13" white in sept 2007 as with all the discounts i got it was about the same price as a similar spec dell laptop or similar, said laptop was nicked a couple of months ago and I'm glad they took the thing away from me! I honestly don't know why anyone would use a mac over a pc running withdows 7, they're just inferior in every way, I still have to use macs at work, and sure, they're shiney looking but they're difficult to use and have huge compatibility issues in comparison to a modern windows pc.

It is good that CCP keeps wanting to improve the customer experience, but it seems they are getting out of touch with what their customers want. Eve became a success because of great gameplay. Our gameplay is pew. Market pew, rat pew, mission pew, wormhole pew, industry pew, mining pew and most of all pew pew. Make the pew better. Then make it shinier.
Let's face it this may take longer to happen than some of us would like... why? Subscriptions.. The shiner EvE is the the more money comes in to CCP from newer accounts looking for a "new" experience.
I am sure that there would a lot of players wanting better pew, but in the grand scheme of things I would suggest that this would be more of a niche market.
From a business perspective, CCP will ultimately prioritise expanding their revenue base before "fine tuning" game mechanics for a select few. After all this is a business and whilst they provide a service we enjoy, they are here to make money.
Reality is you cannot please all people all the time, but I am sure they will strive to continue to accommodate both the loyal player base EvE was built upon and the fresh meat for us to PEW upon.

So much crying over a game. You basement dwelling, mouth breathing, pasty faced, meaty breasted zeros should be ashamed of yourselfs. Go outside and get some sun or maybe dump the catch can for your dehumidifier. Or maybe check that the sump pump is functioning properly. It would suck if it were to fail and ruin your cutting edge AMD K6 based machine with S3 graphics and Voodoo 2.

He wrote one line. It can be interpreted many ways. He could of not replaced his monitor for example, and with $350 not buying a monitor you can still buy a Hand Built PC that kicks the ASS of Macs except the top tier, that will play 5 Eve clients. That's the beauty of AMD getting their ass handed to them by Intel, they have cut their prices.
How did I miss his point exactly?, as I fail to see your point.

EVE isn't minecrack either. And EVE is for the hardcore. I want my learning cliff to weed out the whinging cork sniffing, undedicated-carebear-staring, and honorless scum that want everything to be served to them on a silver platter. This is a sandbox and if I feel like kicking over your castle at least have the ******* to fight back.

You know what a Mac Pro is? ;-) No, you can not spend 350$ and get a nice little fireGL or nv quadro, which would be the "best" avaible hardware. I could be wrong, are 12-xeon cores now really this cheap? ;-) You do not pay extra much for design with apple hardware, you pay for quality, software and support. Just like when you buy at hp. And now, donŠt tell me if you spend 350$ for some hardware updates, they just appear magical in your system, building a system from scratch is as free as minerals in eve. Time is money, and not having to use cheap asus crap which burns out after 2 and a half year is a huge plus on the time side if you are not planing anyway to update your system every 2 years ;-)

Imo it ainŠt that BAD, but yeah there is a trend, apple gets more expensive every year, quality is getting worse every year, and software focus is more and more on iOS. As well is windows getting better and better while OSX did not make any real huge improvements since tiger, which was great.
BTW, which compatibility issues you are speaking of? Driver support, maybe even GDI-Printers? :D

Well, the programming world is in flux right now and mac is on the forefront of the change. Don't expect mac stability in general to improve until clang firmly replaces the last generation of compilers on all platforms.
